Julien is the fault of God. That is simply not a MLB player. I'm sure someone will leave me a reply providing the "cheap Pohlads" are to blame for his sub-beta personality..

Week in Review: It All Falls Apart

It is Philly, so it won't be this year! The Phillies have a long running pattern of making deals (trades or FA signings) that are almost universally hailed as being "the final piece to get 'em over the hump" and then disappoints for the season. The next season you get "tempered" expectations for a better, but not really a contending team. They then go on to be a top tier team for the season. If recent history holds, he'll be a huge get for them next year!- 43 replies

I have to say, I picked the right time to live in Cedar Rapids (baseball wise). They were an Angels franchise and seemingly wore old tattered Angels uniforms. These Kernel uniforms look like a church league softball team spent an unfortunate night with a Mexican 'rassler!

Trade half the roster (the better half, who else you trading?) of a bad team, and refresh it from a worse AAA team. Where do you think Mauer/Pucket/Carew 2.0 is in all that? Because if any of the Twins everyday roster approached that they'd be gone. You ain't getting any reset inseason... the best hope is a young guy whose production margainly outpaces the inevitable rookie bloopers. Considering the product across the river in AAA, that looks unlikely...

Minnesota Twins Minor League Hitters of the Month – July

Minnesota Twins Minor League Hitters of the Month – July
Bodie replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
General question... Where in the hierarchy of American baseball does the Dominican League slot in? Good University level talent, or performance? (Say, U of Ariz, USC, Rice, Vanderbilt etc.) Or is lower, say a select or All-State Legion ball team. I understand that the players are very young (professionally speaking) and that can skew the perception of the quality. But what level of team would be a "fair" matchup to give us an idea of the level of ball being played down there. If anyone answers "below Rookie League" I'll not be surprised...- 13 replies

Julien hasn't figured out how to achieve (?) an actual negative batting average. Until that happens, his offensive "skills" and "production" are kilometers ahead of his glove work (whatever you call it, it ain't defense!).

Ope, Didn't Mean to Let You Have Hope
Bodie replied to Chris Hanel's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
F##k Falvey. He is gone. New ownership or not. Yesterday was the unofficial announcement that the Twins will have a new GM. Everything he has done regarding everyday players has just been publicly repudiated. Toss in the tarnish that is the vaunted "pitching pipeline" and what is there to hang your hat on? Either he is gone at the end of the year, or he will be a titular GM with zero say in player decision (done in the hope he quits saving a few bucks...), and the boy genius won't stand for that... I want him fired. Publicly. With reasons explicitly spelled out. I want it done rudely and with a 1 hour time limit for him to get everything off Twins property. With promises of law enforcement removing him if he is still there in 61 minutes. I won't get my wish, but he ain't going going to be the man with the say-so no matter what. -

Why on the world would you put this roster together? Or even worse, the roster they broke spring training with? That is inexplicable. Recognizing that you have built a turd sandwich when shooting for a BLT, and burning it down is the sanest thing about this last 2 years! -
The Twins Finally Picked a Lane
Bodie replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Disagree, from a fan perspective. We didn't even have the storied Cubs' "there is always next year" thing going on! This was a disaster roster with 5 DHs starting the season as position players. On a team that uses the DH spot as a rest day for "regulars". This was post-Carew 1970s bad Twins baseball. And played with no desire, heart or effort. I'll miss Bader. I'll likely curse like a drunken syphililtic sailor the next time a save is blown on a 91mph fastball. I'll likely regret not having ______ next year as he "finally figures it all out". But, I will carry not one good and lasting memory of the last 18 months of Twins baseball. Blow it up, burn it down, pour it in the Mississippi, just don't try and trot out this old, injury riddled, bad defensive, underperforming roster and tell us you are happy, Derrick Favey!- 301 replies

Ope, Didn't Mean to Let You Have Hope
Bodie replied to Chris Hanel's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yesterday was not depressing, it was the first indication that anyone connected to putting this roster together (roster, not team - team indicates you have a collection greater than the sum of your parts. This was an anti-team, a collection of 25 men worse together than as individuals) finally figured out that there wasn't much about the aggregate that merited keeping it assembled. Am I happy? Hell no!!! There has been nothing about this ML "team" that gave me any hope for the future for far too long. This is a good first step. We all know what else needs to follow... hope Derrick was asking about job openings when calling around! -

Too bad it didn't start last September... -
Let's go back I time 48 hours... The Twins were in a bad position. Incredibly inconsistent offense, bad defense and "good" pitching that netted bad results. The team construction was fundamentally flawed (how many DH first types do you need if you use you DH spot as a half-day off work for "regulars"?). Time to sort the wheat from the chaff. Separate the "problems" from the "solutions". So where does that leave someone like Correa? He costs too much for his performance, but isn't bad. By all accounts he is a true professional in the clubhouse, but that leadership (or whatever you want to call "it") doesn't seem to be bringing anyone along the road to being a better ballplayer. He is being paid the part of a star, but playing as a margianly above average player, albeit at a premium position. So, solution or problem? Well, I know he wasn't the solution. Not necessarily a problem (let alone the problem), but definitely not the solution to this team's troubles.

I thought, and still think, that Jenkins should get called up when the roster expands *assuming I remember rules correctly * without any hype or advanced notice. Call him up play him and see what you actually have. If he is as good as advertising, he is one of the 3 best guys to have out there, long-term. Assuming he stays healthy, of course. I would not expect instant stardom, but I'd like to see a) athleticism, b) defense and c)a willingness to address his weaknesses which will be exposed by the best in the majors. One way to find out just where in his progression he actually is. Gives him immediate feedback on what he needs to work on. Unless he is an utter trainwreck (and he seems professional enough that that won't happen, fingers crossed!) it seems like an idea worth exploring. My only worry is the new ingenious plan Rocco will have to throw a wrench into the works... but I know how to solve that!

The Twins Finally Picked a Lane
Bodie replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'd rather pay the ticket price to see a young team scrapping for jobs, trying to claw a few extra wins above the 50 more or less guaranteed to every MLB team than the breathing abortion that has been masquerading as a team that we have been "treated" to for the last few seasons. Let's be honest. We just saw the teardown of the most unlikable, unwatchable, unprofessional, and unlovable Twins team of the last 50 plus years. I'll miss watching Bader. You native Minnesotans will miss Varland (utterly inexplicably to me, but to each their own). My takeaway after the deadline has passed? Good riddance to bad rubbish. It is almost unimaginable that it got to this point, but there was no concrete foundation for a team to be built on Monday. On Friday? We don't know. Monday? That we knew!- 301 replies
