  1. A rookie manager with no experience will not be "putting Falvey in place." No matter that Derrick should have ended up tossed out with the 2024 Christmas tree...
  2. So, bring back Alcala - has exactly what you listed. I'll take the pitcher, you get the belly itcher!
  3. Well, since the "creative solutions" lack the fundamentals of the positions they've played for years professionally, I'd say this falls much closer to wishful thinking than creative. Polishing a (litteral) terd isn't creative, it is a sign of mental illness!
  4. Love how people keep saying unplayable guys are a DH... even when they can't/don't hit! Bottom of the barrel at either position. And at $4.5-5M per, it is an absolute no-brainer.
  5. Little birdie tells me Falvey lays 100% of the blame for his glaucoma on overuse/abuse of his eyes. Specifically batting practice in sunlight.
  6. Leyland- I'll cover his Camel bill if he is The One. At Minnesota prices!
  7. No, it doesn't. And no, he wasn't even close.
  8. This is what happens when the "smartest man in the room" is allowed to hang himself with his own words as opposed to be challenged... To quote that timeless philosopher, "What a maroon!"
  9. Not sure the author knows what "replacement level" means... Sorry, definitely sure!
  10. Hmm, I called him Rocchead and my post got deleted... Guess that he's now unemployed makes it funny!
  11. So, you missed the just concluded season??? Ober didn't even make the modest contribution you were looking for... well, maybe way back of the rotation. Joe Mays production, with the adulation usually reserved for a Radke or Viola!
  12. When the first name on your "core" list has a career percentage of games played of <53% you are kinda FUBARed... "Flawed" isn't the "F" in FUBAR...
  13. True-ish. But any team routinely putting the cast iron Canadian in the field isn't ever going to be good defensively. Not to mention the Incredible Bulk in RF, everyone (sans Bader) in LF, and of course every "anyone can play 1B" option after France's trade. Bottom of the barrel D from half your position players will result in bottom of the barrel defense. Buxton or not.
  14. He wasn't a "scapegoat". He wasn't competent. Very simply, he has "led" (to use the term very loosely) MLB's most disappointing team for two consecutive seasons. The only surprising thing to me is that he got to do it the second time. Good riddance to bad rubbish. At least a bit of it anyway!
  15. I think youtube has old games. Might be the last chance I have to see a competent Twins team.... Go utube!!!!
  16. Who was the 2nd cutest Little Rascal? Darla was the cutest, but who was next? My point is, no one cares. The "2nd best" in a horrible subset isn't an accomplishment, but a mathematical certainty when the subset includes 2 entities.
  17. But, but ,but... Just look at Rocco's pet Canadian and his play at 1B. Looks even worse than he does at 2B - which was historically terrible. Compare him to France who was almost universally derided when signed because he graded out as the "worst" 1B last season. Even Mr. McGoo could see that he was laps ahead of any of the "anyone can play 1B" candidates...
  18. Wow! Got all the way to #2 before the " good news" becomes actual bad news...
  19. Saw something in this game that has been missing for the last 2-3 seasons... And that is the ability to get going after a bad start. We've been treated to a team that you could tell in about 2-3 innings if there was any reason to watch a particular game. No life shown early meant that there was about a 1% chance of the Twins getting going! I surely don't care to see the starter shelled (again...), but at least this bunch of "leftovers" kept the gas pedal down, and made a game of it! Not a good (quality) game, but at least it was entertaining. Which beats the snot out of the pre-trade deadline Twins! (i.e. bad quality baseball played with zero heart, effort or professionalism)
  20. I can't find it... and I have tried! The first of 2 metrics measured were % of runners attempting to advance on balls in play. Wallner clocked in at 42% of runners attempting to advance "an extra base" (admittedly subjective). No one had a 43%, though several were at 42. Everyone else was lower. The success percentage had him 2 percentage points from the bottom, though only 13% from the top ( a surprising small range, imo). The actual percentages escape me at the moment.
