  1. One was an all-star game shortstop. Only once, but... a little bit of a difference from a guy who can't start on a poor to middling team. I can't see anyone offering much of anything for Clemens. Not enough positive history. That said, somebody overpays at the deadline for anybody. May be Clemens this year. Doubtful, but possible.
  2. I troll the Brewers site on occasion, and this story literally started on a "Who would you like the Brewers to get?" page. Not even a bloggers idea, but a Wisconsin fan's fever dream.
  3. Ready, or not, he's back. Outman dfa'ed. (Please hold your applause until he is out of earshot)
  4. I'd just add that he should be getting his time with the same SS - whoever that may be. The combination is second only to pitchers and catchers in the meshing needed to improve. Keystone Combo, and whatnot.
  5. Just need another BP arm to cover for "starter" who will be even less likely to provide any length. Poor 5th starters almost cost one reliever to cover them. Add a full reliever needed to piggyback an even worse guy. And now you're looking at almost 2 full BP spots because you have NO length for a third of your rotation. Have one of your 4 "front of the rotation" guys go 3+ and you need to look for "arm fatigue" or other nebulous "injury" to reset your bullpen and roster. Unless you want more roster moves based solely on available options, just forget this roster destroying "idea".
  6. Toronto originally got him from the Mets. Hope he gets straightened out and does well. Easy guy to root for.
  7. A 90 mph fastball is detrimental to your arm's health. "A highly unnatural act" as described by Sandy Kofax. He never said what his curve was...

    Time For Change

Love The Wrench, but sorry to see the nom de plum retired. [And, we're all gluttons for punishment or we wouldn't be Twins fans]
  9. In a month Kreidler and Gray will have hit actual cold spots (i.e. slump) and everyone will be wondering why we picked up all these DFAs/has beens/never were. Pretty sure Royce needs a smack upside the head on a dialy basis, but you don't cut bait on one of 3-4 guys on the 40 man roster who possibly has "it" - the ability to be a clutch-type star - until you have to..
  10. How to fix baseball... Have millionaires claim they are underpaid and fight the billionaires (who wrote the checks that made said millionaires to a man) crying poor. P!ss off the remaining fans (of whom I'm among the youngest and can collect Social Security), ignore the generations following me who see baseball as something from another era. And no games for the kids of today to become the fans of tomorrow. How could this possibly go wrong???
  11. Addition by subtraction. Remarkable what will happen when you aren't regularly playing the worst regular in baseball and another at the very bottom for his position... And the bullpen goes from barrel scraping to... well, lets call them a barrel for now! Go barrels!
  12. Man, that's depressing as aitch eye double hockey sticks! How was I 46 when some of these prospects were born. We're bordering on "old enough to be thier grandfather territory"! Barely accept "old enough to be thier father"...
  13. I responded to the incorrect post... Should be to the ... person defending both as good players. "They hit ball hard! Good hitter!"
  14. Matt Wallner or Rod Carew? Or Joey not a Greaseball? Decisions, decisions, decisions...
  15. Step #1 for Wallner is to show he is not the worst player in baseball... He has nothing to build upon right now. Tear down and complete rebuild.
  16. When most of your bullpen should be riding a bus somewhere, does it really matter? Prefer to stick it out when the 6+ERA reliever can't find the strike zone's zip code? (Again...) Or is it next man in before the game is utterly out of hand? If you're trying to win the answer is obvious. Want more defined roles? I see a collection that should be doing mop-up work to hopefully save thier individual careers. At best. Anyone see something else?
  17. Would surely cause less damage!!!(which is all Wallner has produced in the last year and a half- damage to the Twins)
  18. Let me introduce Mr. Banda to you. All he needs is the opportunity!
  19. That "horseshoe" is named Terry Fracona. Dude gets his team's best, and does it pretty regularly. One of those "it" guys...
  20. And keep repeating the same things for a year plus now. True things. Truly confounding 😖
