  1. The Twins should have 9 catchers on the roster. Try something different. :-( Catcher/Bullpen arm.
  2. Trading Pablo makes the most sense to me. His $23 million (or whatever the number is) stands out to me. The last 2 seasons we mostly played without him due to injuries anyway. I really don't think many teams are willing to pay that for a 3,4,5 starter on a WS competing team. But maybe.
  3. Luc Longley's son plays baseball. 7-2 pitcher that throws 125 mph. Maybe there is a chance?
  4. Even if they didn't win much, I did enjoy the post fire sale Twins. Keaschal, Lee, Martin, Clemens My expectations are low (also see MN Vikings) but it was a fun squad to watch.
  5. I like Rocco. 7 years is enough to see it just isn't going to work. Some managers work. Some don't. Rocco got us our first playoff series win in a long time. Not sure how the Twins mix "cheap" and "good" together to find the next manager. It will be interesting to see what happens.
  6. CC is top talent. Just not with the Twins. I don't know why it didn't work. Too much pressure? Too much spotlight? Injuries sure. How about when not injured? It was the right move to trade Carlos. If he is superman again with Houston, then that is great for the Astros. Why didn't David Ortiz do Ortiz stuff with the Twins? I don't know that either. Nate Bargatze: Nobody knows..........
  7. I'm in the minority, but I like the changes and trades. Lee at SS. Keaschall at 2B. The bullpen is always a work in progress. Even with quasi-studs. I would have liked to keep Varland, but trades require trading people that other teams want. Overall, too much negativity. You don't give up on the Twins. They are what they are even with a $36 million SS in the middle. We aren't a team that should have a $36 million player. Making the playoffs is our World Series. I'm good with that. Like winning the Division is the Vikings Super Bowl. The Twins will get a new owner. I don't expect a $200 million payroll. Baseball means summer. No baseball means fall/winter north of the wall.
  8. Makes perfect sense. Brooks Lee to SS. Learn the lesson. No $36 million players. Small ball. Billy Beane ball. I was relieved when Carlos signed with the Mets and then stunned when he came back. Great guy, but not what the Twins need right now. I like it.
  9. 8 wins. If that was 18 or 21 I'd be more on board. The offense didn't score runs for Sonny, but but. He is more likely due for Tommy John. I say we try to sign someone for 2-3 years in the 25-26 age range.
  10. 3 clean innings from Ober. 3 clean innings for Ryan. Then bullpen takes over.
  11. I miss Bert Blyleven who could pitch 300 innings and anything but a complete game was a dissapointment. If a pitcher can't hold up, what can a team or manager do? If a pitcher isn't hurt but their velocity is down and they are struggling what can a team or manager do? It isn't like he pitched 200 innings from 100 last year.
  12. Just keep rotating people through AAA and AAAA. I don't know why the younger players can't supplant Gallo, Solano, Kepler. They just aren't consistent enough. Whoever we seem to "go with" flames out. I'd prefer youth, but now we are stuck with Buxton and Correa for 5 years. Not easy being a AAAA major league team.
  13. Fal-Vine have not delivered. Regime change is sometimes necessary.
  14. In the end, it is the Twins. I was happy when we "missed" on Correa. Now we have 5 more ~$3X million seasons ahead. We thought Mauer's contract was an anchor at the end. Whew. It's a long summer, but it is likely to be a "long" summer as we fade. Oh well. Get outside and enjoy the summer. Winter is coming north of the wall.
  15. Pa-ganzo! It could happen to anyone, but it seems to happen to Pagan more. That stretch last season essentially put the Twins out of the race. I've seen enough.
  16. The bigger question is how do you bring a Kepler back when the youthful replacements are doing much better? It will be interesting to see how Kepler and Gallo are brought back.
  17. Kepler looks washed. Not the start he needed. The Gallo intercostal/oblique type injury is not good. Those can linger and linger. Age and cold weather is not a good mix. Exited to see Julien. Larnach looks legit. I hope Wallner can prove the same. Youth movement.
  18. I like this opening day roster. Not sure how it will compete. I hope Pagan is the long reliever to start and only comes in when down 7-8 runs. It was -11F in Fargo this morning. Non-baseball weather if there ever was. Oh well, it is warm somewhere. Go Twins!
  19. Another "head scratcher" for me. A 35 year old utility infielder is a lock to make the roster? Hmmmm.
  20. I attended this event. I am hoping Gordon makes the team in the utility role as he can play infield and outfield. They were good sports and I'm sure it is not easy doing these events with everything up in the air.
  21. If he wants to be here and can play 140-150 games per season, then it doesn't matter "how". Piranha's 3.0 (or is it 2.0?)
  22. At some point Carlos will be "too slow" for SS. Then a move to 2B or 1B will come. Hopefully 3-4 years at least. I like CC, but I wish he was 25 instead of 29. Thinking about 25 year old Mauer vs 34 year old Mauer. Time does no good most of the time. Can Royce be a 2B? Can Brooks be a 2B? Seems like trading 1 of the 3 for pitching would help in the long run.
