  1. A lot of coin, but I'm sure most will be happy. I hope he doesn't have a bum leg. :-) I guess we can trade our SS prospects.
  2. So the Twins should be willing to ignore the medical issues that blocked the Giants and Mets from signing Correa? Hmmmm. How about he plays out years 2,3 of his contract and we see if he can still play at a high level at 31? Only the Twins would willingly walk into 3-5 years of dead money.
  3. How about a 1 year deal for, oh say, $30 million. $5 million discount for a bum ankle/leg. :-) I still think we could spend $30 million in more productive ways.
  4. 15 more wins and 15 less losses would be a division winning team. I think Pagan lost 10 games by himself last year, but that may just have been how it felt in those late inning blow ups. No matter what, I'm looking forward to 2023 baseball.
  5. In a "hot" market you waive all contingencies! No inspection. (I guess that is housing, not beisbol) Maybe a 20 year contract for 50% ownership would seal the deal. :-) :-( Time to move on for me.
  6. And one of the top SS is going to be a 3B player. Oh the angst and gnashing of teeth. I'm still fine with missing out on spending $300 million+ on a single player.
  7. I like the lineup with Gordon in there somewhere most days. Good speed. His bat showed some promise and he doesn't cost $35 million. Piranha.
  8. Funny how Lewis was called up (ready enough) and then had to play OF because we spent $35 million on Correa. Maybe he still tears his ACL playing SS, but just interesting how the cookie crumbles sometimes. Adrianza played solid defense and didn't hit much worse than Correa.
  9. I'd rather give Taylor Rogers $11 million over 2 years. I know Rogers won't sign for $5.5 million. I'm sure we are not done with head scratching moves.
  10. The Twins lost that trade. Rogers was needed in the bullpen. We could have played him last year and then just let him go in free agency if we didn't want to pay up. Pagan may have pitched OK at the end of the season, but he blew some of the critical games as we slipped out of first. Paddack may or may not pitch again as a Twin. We'll see in 2024.
  11. Aging veteran. I know $11 million isn't a lot today, but I don't think this moves the needle.
  12. Search high and low for our "Lance Lynn" of 2023. Sorry Lance, just using you as a reference point.
  13. If Correa was 22, maybe we missed. At 29, I think it was a lucky miss. Baseball = summer. I just like having it on. (TV, radio, app). I'll follow along whether we win or lose. Pirahna's with an under $100 million payroll is fine with me.
  14. I see the current roster as a 70-75 win team. A 1-2 SP and maybe corner outfield power would be two ways to get to 80-85. A healthy Mahle, Gray and Maeda has to be an improvement. We never really got to see the potential in Mahle. I'm OK keeping the payroll down over going with an aging player/huge contract.
  15. $35 million for 152 hits (22 HR) and 121 strikeouts for Correa. He had some long slumps and batted .292. Pretty good, but $35 million good? I have a feeling some fans probably didn't go because they signed Correa. Sano hitting 45 bombs would have been better, but we went down that road one time too many. Being competitive early in the season helps. The big mistake was not putting a roof on the new stadium. Outstate people like myself can't drive down and be assured a game. I know, it has been 10+ years of Target Field. Freezing or cooking in the sun mid July probably is in the back of the fans minds. When we go mid summer, we think about shaded seats. Never had to do that in the Metrodome. Too late to turn back now. I'll watch and listen to the Twins all summer no matter what. Try to hit a few games each summer. Everything is better with baseball on the air.
  16. I like being a "small ball" team. Making the playoffs is our World Series. Develop young talent and then trade them off before signing big deals. No way to compete with the big 6-8 on salary. Don't even try. I hope they don't feel like they have to make a "big deal" now that Correa (luckily) went with the Gints. Small Ball 23.
  17. The Twins have terrible luck signing "fading" pitchers. They are expensive and we don't have the lineup to help them squeak out decent seasons. I'd rather see us stay in the $120 million range and go for youth. Let's see Austin Martin. Simeon Woods. Let them learn on the job.
  18. Whew. Crisis avoided. Can you imagine the decline in a 40-42 year old SS. 29 is the start of the decline. So happy for the Giants.
  19. Between Jeffers, Vasquez and La Tortuga, we should be able to get to 162 games.? 32 year old catcher knees is my only worry.
  20. Less ground to cover in RF. He will always dive for balls. Maybe RF wouldn't make any difference. The old saying "keep doing the same thing over and over..expecting different results...insanity" :-)
  21. Buxton is paid fairly. We just need another Buck to play the other 50% of the year in CF. I think a move to RF would be good for Buck. I'd rather have him playing.
