  1. Yeah, that's a fair point but I also don't know where all of them play next year either. Larna h gets RF, Wallner gets LF, and Buxton plays CF. Maybe Martin is your 4th OF or they find a guy cheap (the Twins love cheap OF). Lee is your 2nd baseman for the next 8-12 years, not sure how Julien fits
  2. Maybe although I think I seem as our 1st baseman with Lewis, Correa, and Lee creating a kick-ass group
  3. Tradeable assets for the winter: Kiriloff, Julien, and Martin. Any or all 3 could be moved although I believe Kiriloff and Julien probably bring you back better prospects. If you trade the 1st 2 on my list, Martin probably stays as your defensive flex guy
  4. I'm giving Alcala a pass for Sunday because I believe he has done a great job this with the 7th inning and given Jax and Duran the ability to fill their roles in this bullpen. "Stuff" happens and the lineup he faced in the 7th yesterday is as good he'll see this year. We got 3 of 4, let's go get 2 of 3 from S.D. and keep the pressure on Cleveland.
  5. Ryan injury is certainly concerning but the fact Buxton sat all 3 games and Correa wasn't available is disappointing also. I'm assuming Correa comes off the IL Friday, maybe Farmer gets DFA'd to keep the healthy guys on the roster. When you choose to sit on your hands at the deadline and guys get dinged up in August and Sept, this is how you live; on the edge of a mess.
  6. I'll give any RH arm a chance if it means the Dobnak experience is over.
  7. They're going to sit on their hands and do nothing. If I have to spend extra to bring them back on my TV and they don't make a deal and try to win, I will not make the upgrade. I'm tired of greedy ownership lining their pockets and not putting the fans perspective on their agenda
  8. I'm more interested in tje bullpen than starting pitching. Theilbar and Okert make me uncomfortable. LH pitching from the bullpen could use an upgrade, in my opinion.
  9. Blackmon is their best player, he can play CF or RF with ease, and he can hit. Trade Buxton for Blackmon and I'm interested.
  10. Margot goes because Twins eat less money DFAing him instead of Farmer. When Lee.is ready to come up in August, Farmer can go.
  11. If the Twins goal is protect their best arms and develop them, we're losing on the 2nd half of this goal. Paddock, Lopez, and Ryan all came from other teams. When 60-80% of your rotation is developed in your firm system, bringing in broken pitchers seems lazy. D-Scal wasn't the pri,e in the Polanco deal but after Varland effort yesterday, questions remain in our rotation.
  12. Totally agree, Hoskins plays every day in some capacity. 500 AB's for $15 million and he makes us better quickly. If it means trading for a pitching upgrade, Kiriloff might have be part of the deal because is a good power talent
  13. Hate the idea of signing guys to minor league deals when this team has tradeable parts that get real major league talent. Also, hate lowering salary when we all know this team does lack money. Our ownership has deep pockets and crocodile arms.
  14. I don't think any of these contracts are "bad" contracts. While Coreea's contract is a lot of money annually, he played almost every day last year, hurt. His offensive production was down but defensively and leadership-wise, he was exactly who they wanted him to be. Dobnak was a dumb contract, doubt we ever see him in the majors but, again, the money in today's game is small potatoes. In 2024, if spending $150 million on payroll is a bridge too far for Twins ownership, then I'll have to be content with winning the AL Central and not advancing past the ALDS. Texas, New York, Toronto, and probably Houston will all spend closer to $200 million and that $50 million difference will matter for talent and depth.
  15. Always frustrated to read about Twins having interest in guys after arm surgery. When price of pitching continues to be the priority, I lose interest quickly. It's a me problem but it's a drag
  16. You only trade your top prospects if you think you have a team 1 or 2 pieces short of a World Series ring. That's not the Twins, they'll keep youth to keep salary down knowing that winning the Central doesn't require a huge salary budget.
  17. Trade him, especially if there is actual value for a guy with 800 hits and over 700 strikeouts. You'll never re-sign him after 2024 season so move him now and get more potential.
  18. The line up, the line up, the line up. The success of July and September probably made us forget the 1st 3 months of the season. Changes need to be made, certain veterans should move on. I think a bullpen of Jax, Stewart, and Duran is very exciting to think about but becoming "professional" hitters is essential to taking the next step. You cannot win important games striking out 14 times as a team. We gotta get better there.
  19. Have to be better offensively, I'd like us to stop flipping Kiriloff and Wallner so quickly when there's a pitching change. Each of the got 1 AB on Wednesday before being replaced; can't get comfortable when you don't get AB's
  20. This roster was good enough to win the Central and they've won series' over the last month. Beating anyone in the playoffs will be the great question. Live their starting pitching, still can see them getting shutout in the playoffs
  21. I would DH Polanco every day and give Julien 2nd base. I want Castro in CF every day. No interest in giving Buxton a spot as a DH, he's been a .205 hitter and the team has played better without him. I also believe Maeda needs real consideration as the 3rd statrter; it might matter who they play as to Ryan or Maeda.
  22. I agree. Last night did nothing to make me think this is a done deal. Game 3 will be do-or-die and the start last night was disappointing. I think, depending on the opponent, game 3 will be a decision made once they know who they are playing.
