  1. Give me Jax over Pagan any time we have a lead.
  2. And our LH's are..................... 2 for 2 so far against Burnes.
  3. What's wrong with Thielbar?
  4. Luplow vs a RH instead of Wallner. Is this one of those bad Garlick type decisions?
  5. I don't know how the Twins don't DFA or IL Gallo if all of Buxton, Kirilloff and Castro come back. Funderburk in the bullpen would be my choice of the five for this year. Don't like his walks, how about trying out Regi Grace as I think he will have to be added to the 40 man roster this winter or be taken in the Rule 5 draft. Others have made the jump from AA. Winder and Sands can be optioned, Ryan goes in the rotation and Keuchel is our long man for now. (Miranda or Alcala could go to the 60 day IL to make room for Grace/Funderburk).
  6. Isola and Williams are emergency catchers only should they ever get to MLB. Winkel catches more than any of our guys in the minors so I would call him the primary catcher. Cardenas and Cossetti split time at catcher but also play a little at 1B and DH to get them more AB's, which certainly says the Twins like them. These last three (maybe Baez as well) are potentials. It's incredible that Vasquez and Jeffers haven't been injured at all this year so we haven't got a chance to see Camargo. The Twins must like this group as they didn't draft any catchers this year.
  7. Lee, Severino and Keirsey played some of their best baseball at the end of July. After they left, others stepped up (Isola, Sabato, Rucker and Soularie all over 1.000 OPS in the past 15 days and the pitchers as well - Ohl, Grace, Nowlin, Peguero, and Festa have pitched their best of the year at Wichita suddenly with a combined 9-1 record and ERA under 2.00). Maybe it's the unconscious mind thinking, 'our best guys are gone and we can no longer rely on them to carry this team'?? Have to give some credit to the coaches to improve these guys as well. Finally, other teams have also moved up their best players.
  8. Fajardo is behind a number of guys - Martin and Stevenson to name two. Stevenson does what Fajardo does but at AAA and with power while playing CF.
  9. The Twins prospects rank as high as #11 by one national rating (I forget who). Great article.
  10. Sure seems like the young hitters are knocking in most of the runs lately.
  11. I think he is very Miranda-like on defense - so not that good. But someone more knowledgeable may be able to comment further.
  12. Could add Vasquez to that as well (I think he's okay, just not worth quite that much money). But I would have made the Buxton, Correa, Mahle, Lopez, Gray, and maybe Floro/Lopez (knowing some of the personal background) moves. But to balance this out what about the good moves - Castro, Taylor, Farmer, Ryan, Duran, Maeda. Keeping Jax last year, Kepler and Pagan this year when I was ready to move on. And the non-moves that many wanted - signing/trading for Rodon, Montas, etc.
  13. For the hitters, I completely agree. They are infuriating with a runner on third and no outs. They strike out so much that they are the worst in baseball at getting that runner home. The starting pitching is a joy to watch (for me, listen to most of the time).
  14. I've got Lee with the Twins in 2024, thus losing his prospect status, so it would have to be Jenkins and E-Rod, and I don't think E-rod will rise quite that high.
  15. I had that exact play happen to me playing SS in high school. The runners head was right where I needed to throw the ball so I didn't throw it. I was only in 8th grade then and my coach said to just throw side arm at the runners head the next time and he will get out of the way. I did that several times over my high school career. Never hit anyone as they always got down as they saw me going side arm. If Julien hits him, the umpire would have called the runner out at first. The ump should still have called interference on this play anyway. I was at the game and seated off the first base bag up a ways, right in line with the throw and telling everyone that was interference.
  16. Taylor pitching a third of an inning for the Wind Surge and getting 3 strikeouts. I've never seen that before.
  17. Polanco out, Farmer on roster. Julien at 2B. Lee at 3B, Lewis in CF, Buxton at DH, Miranda starts out in AAA. Austin Martin on the team. Larnach in AAA. Funderburk in place of Moran. Free agent in place of Winder. Leaves without a long reliever but someone will be hurt on the pitching staff and Sands or someone can be that guy.
  18. Austin Martin is really on fire. Isola going for hitter of the week. If only he really was a catcher he would have an opportunity to make the bigs.
  19. I'm not concerned. If we are up by 2 runs, a closer can challenge a hitter and give up a HR. Still get 3 outs and you win. Just don't issue lead off walks and everything will be fine (the next thing we'll see on TD is not Pagan over Jax but Pagan over Duran as the closer - what is the world coming to!).
  20. Agreed. The Twins only exercise the option if another team wants him in a trade. The Twins missed the boat on trading high on Polanco with numerous guys coming up in the minors (Julien, Steer, Martin, etc.). Great player whose body has taken a toll.
  21. Hey Doc, I know you are a big proponent of Helman as well. What are your thoughts of Prato vs Helman next year making it to the Twins, assuming both are healthy? Martin is probably in this super utility mix as well with Castro already on the Twins. Gordon will probably be gone next spring IMO.
  22. Agreed. He has been brutal quite often and has always survived with the excuse that he is "young." Bring up someone who actually pitches well for more than 8 innings, Funderburk, and DFA Henriquez. His ERA has been 4.71, 5.66, and 5.44 the last three years, with a ever-rising WHIP that is 1.67 this year. Can't believe anyone wants to call him up now because he pitched 8 good innings.
  23. Wow, most everyone has given up on Noah Miller as a top 20 prospect. He is our best fielding SS in the minors, very young, and has begun to hit with some power (5 homers since July 8) at Cedar Rapids.
