  1. "Matt Wallner will be back before too long, and it’s probably fair to assume he will pick up where he left off: mashing baseballs." Not so sure about that. It may be like spring training again for him. And most years in the upper minors or with the Twins, those first 50 or so plate appearances he's searching for the right swing. Hope I'm wrong.
  2. Love your enthusiasm and positivity. I agree with you on Jenkins and Rodriguez. We already have Lee and Keaschall. I love to see how McCusker is hitting but I don't bring him up to give him a try. I only bring him up if we think he can be a good player. Holland - I totally disagree. When he was healthy, he spent numerous games on the bench and batted near the bottom of the lineup last year (while batting Helman near the top of the order and then trading him). Those are two telling signs of what the Twins think of him as those players usually don't get a chance in the majors. Pitching prospects are great. Position players we are good other than these weaknesses - 1B, catcher and SS. I used to get excited about guys like Noah Miller but now wait until they show something at AA. Therefore, I'm not counting on Culpepper or Debarge just yet, and Amick (the no homers is a bad sign even though he has a great batting average).
  3. There is clearly a current top 5 in the bullpen for us right now. Stewart and Topa are next. Alcala is mop up or emergency only as we can't send him down with risking losing him.
  4. Any word on the DeBarge injury? He got hit by a pitch this week and hasn't played since. Too bad because he was playing well.
  5. Gasper continues his absolutely amazing AAA stats. Nice to see Rodriguez knock one over the fence.
  6. The minor league legend of Mickey continues! I can see why teams keep thinking, some of that has to transfer to the majors (but it never does).
  7. Varland's hustle to make that play at first base was my play of the game. Clearly a case where playing multiple sports as a youth helps a player come out of a play like that with an out instead of an injury IMO.
  8. With Amick's lack of speed and defense, he must hit for power. Nice start to this season with his batting average but if you can't hit for power in Class A, he's got a lot of work to do yet.
  9. Healthy as they actually played in a game. Oof, Lewis looked anything but healthy, like he was going to fall apart with the next swing. Everyone else was great tonight though. Keep up the win streak.
  10. The legend of Dalton Shuffield retires. He must have gotten tired of being that guy that would literally move to every minor league team we had, sometimes going from AAA to A ball.
  11. Not anymore for Amick. He is on the 7 day IL with the dreaded oblique strain, meaning no way it only takes 7 days.
  12. I will say Coulumbe was an excellent pickup. Well spent money there.
  13. With our starting pitching, you certainly can see the chance to go on longer winning streaks. Combine that with Buxton being healthy and running so well, it's unbelievable that we haven't won more. Lewis and Castro should help but don't bring them back too soon if they aren't healthy and ready.
  14. Why is Paddack's fastball 95 in the 1st inning and 91 at the end of his outing? That seems like a bigger drop than most pitchers. 91 worked fine today but usually doesn't.
  15. We could have Cy Young himself at the beginning of his career and you would be grumping about how bad he is. Give the 29 other teams the option of Festa and Matthews vs. their top two starting pitchers in AAA, and it may very well be 25-29 teams that would select Festa and Matthews.
  16. I am ready to get rid of Rocco, though about 4-5 hitters on the roster don't belong there. Fundamentals and lack of hustle is my problem with Rocco. At least Gasper hustled and hey he forced an error. Go outside the box with a new manager, Brian Dinkleman from the minors. His teams have always played well and he knows many of these players with the Twins.

  18. Larnach could have caught that ball instead of letting it hit halfway up the wall. The home plate ump was terrible that inning as well. But the real problem is the hitting, batting 3 guys who seem like automatic outs, Gasper, Clemens and Kiersey. Kiersey needs to become a great bunter. Do that and combine it with his good defense and baserunning and he could last as a 4th/5th outfielder.
  19. Exactly. The change up wasn't close to being a strike so he didn't need to look for that. Great pitching and pitch selection the last two games except for the inexplicable need to throw almost nothing but fastballs to Naylor until he gets the timing down and wins the game for them.
  20. Didn't know Olivares was throwing 98 but did see his good pitching stats this year. I would have put him in my top 20 though I seem to have way more pitchers ranked highly than hitters.
  21. Really, Keaschall has to change everything now that he has reached MLB. Cue the article - "Twins change Keaschall's swing and he's no longer a good hitter."
