I would think a HR sandwich would have something in the middle. Therefore, I think it would be HR, non-HR hit, and HR consecutively.

Julien really having some great games but he needs to consistently have them and then either have the Twins fall out of the race or have injuries to get back to bigs this year. So I'm not really hoping he makes it back for now.

Twins 8, Cubs 1: Ryan Jeffers, Twins Ambush Cubs
FlyingFinn replied to Steven Trefz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Postgame Rocco said if the Twins scored two more runs in the 5th, Sim was going back out there. He also said the Monday off day with the rested pen played a big factor.- 66 replies

Also a reminder that these are mostly not Clemens-type clutch HR's. 1 of them was in a 13-4 win when the game was decided and another was in a 16-4 loss when it was decided already. However you want to chop up Wallner's May/June #'s after he returned, they aren't good batting about .160 with slugging about .400. By now we are well beyond slow start. He needs to figure it out. This coming from a Wallner fan.

Nice to see consistency from Nowlin. Keep it up as his history is a mixture of great and terrible outings. He's got the arm to be in MLB.

How many big clutch HR's does Clemens have! I can't remember many happening in blowout games. Unlike what Laudner said in the post game ("Clemens has really been swinging the bat well." Huh!!?), Clemens is struggling overall right now but every hit seems to be a big one. Makes very good plays on defense, too. I like him as one of our bench players. Brooks Lee didn't give the Twins or minor league system any credit for the bunt - it was the "Larry Lee school of baseball out in the Big West Conference." I do wish the Twins system would teach and practice bunting more (or maybe at all). Lee used great form and kept that bat head above the barrel. One other nitpick - why didn't Buxton steal today? He had about 13 pitches to steal on. Cost us a double play in the first.

Rays (Bradley) vs Twins (Sands): 7/5/25, 1:10pm

Too soon! -
No, I am also saying the Twins should trade Larnach. His trade value is high right now. Though I don't think Bader is going to agree to the mutual option and will want more money elsewhere. Appears to be a great teammate. My reason for trading Larnach is Jenkins is coming in 2026. Rodriguez is also on the 40 man and Gonzalez now has to go on it this winter (though his defense isn't better than Larnach's).

And Raya shouldn't even have given up that run. Runner on 1st and he takes off for 2nd. Raya steps off and throws to 1st. Wrong base as the runner easily made it to 2nd. Then, he scored on a sac fly two batters later. Raya also threw more than 82 pitches for the first time in his career.

Great game to watch, close with some strategy. I would sure like Correa to start hitting in clutch situations, runners in scoring position with two outs.

Who do you want for the next Twins manager?
FlyingFinn replied to Ottomatic1990's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I have always liked Brian Dinkelman, our AA manager, has usually been a winning manager and one who seems to develop his players very well. Plus, he has managed many of the Twins over his years. Maybe a bit outside the box but that is who I would choose. -
Search some other articles - the Twins have picked some pitchers who they are pitching about twice per week instead of once (as minor league starters do) and they are pitching them about 3 innings each time. Ohl is one of them. Something new.

Twins need a catcher for next year. You have to give up someone great to get him. I'm trading Duran for Kyle Teel. Vazquez traded for an A ball player. France also traded for an A ball player. Castro goes to the Yankees for Brock Selvidge, a LHP. Larnach. Brooks Lee and Marco Raya to the Astros for Brice Mathews (we have to get more foot speed and Lewis, Correa, Lee in the infield won't do it). This also clears the way for Jenkins or Rodriguez to start with the Twins out of spring training in 2026, whoever is ready. Bader to the Padres for Romeo Sanabria, a 1B. Paddack to the Cards for Ixan Henderson, a LHP. The 2026 position players will be Jeffers/Teel, 1B still a question, Mathews, Correa, Lewis, Jenkins/Rodriguez, Buxton, Wallner, Keaschall, Martin. PItchers mostly the same, fitting in Prielipp and Andrew Morris. C: Ryan Jeffers ($4.70M) 1B: Aaron Sabato ($0.80M) 2B: Edouard Julien ($0.80M) 3B: Royce Lewis ($2.30M) SS: Carlos Correa ($36.00M) LF: Austin Martin ($0.80M) CF: Byron Buxton ($15.00M) RF: Matt Wallner ($0.80M) DH: Carson McCusker ($0.80M) 4th OF: Kody Clemens ($0.80M) Utility: Luke Keaschall ($0.80M) Utility: Mickey Gasper ($0.80M) Backup C: Kyle Teel ($.80M) NA: Dead Money Here ($0.00M) SP1: David Festa ($0.80M) SP2: Joe Ryan ($3.80M) SP3: Bailey Ober ($4.30M) SP4: Pablo Lopez ($21.50M) SP5: Simeon Woods Richardson ($0.80M) RP: Travis Adams ($0.80M) RP: Brock Stewart ($0.80M) RP: Griffin Jax ($2.60M) RP: Kody Funderburk ($0.80M) RP: Cole Sands ($0.80M) RP: Justin Topa ($1.30M) RP: Louie Varland ($0.80M) RP: Zebby Matthews ($0.80M) NA: Dead Money Here ($4.00M) Payroll is 24.76% under budget

Is it just me, or are we often swinging at pitches that aren't strikes and letting others that are go by without swinging? If we aren't going to hit well, I want much more foot speed and A+ defense. At this point, I don't think it's the coaches. I think it's the hitters that Falvey has given them.

Roster changes to salvage the season, or to re-build
FlyingFinn replied to VivaBomboRivera!'s topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
What do you think our OF looks like a year from now? I'm thinking if Jenkins stays healthy, he will be there. Possibly Rodriguez too, again if healthy. With Buxton, Larnach and Wallner, do you sell someone then (probably at a lower value for whoever you are selling on)? Do you sell over the winter on someone? Do you sell in July of this year? If the Twins are in the race at the end of July, it's easy. Don't sell now. If the Twins drop out of the race, then it could get interesting. Big decisions coming. -
0 outs. Buxton struck out and Larnach hit into a DP.

Biggest Surprises of the Twins' First Half
FlyingFinn replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree - Buxton being healthy for the first half of the season and Clemens clutch power hitting were my two surprises. Negative - I thought Alcala would finally be a great reliever (I know.... I shouldn't have been surprised!) and Julien not hitting.- 21 replies

Their problem is currently that Royce is on his way back and Keaschall is scheduled back in July. Julien and Martin will need to be hot when the next injury occurs.

My nitpick is Lee not going to 2nd when France took 3rd on his single, with the ball getting past the 3rd baseman. Didn't seem like he was even watching the play. Watkins was even waving Lee to 2nd.

Yes, and if we aren't pinch running Keirsey there (even if Vazquez wasn't hit), why is he on the team?
