  1. If only I trusted the ownership and front office, I could see what they are doing. The team is very close to being the 4th worst this year (can't catch the White Sox or Rockies or probably the Pirates). Get a high draft pick, reload the bullpen (maybe internally as we have so many possible starters right now) and trust the youth in 2026 (Jenkins, Culpepper, etc.). We would be faster and have better defense. The hitting can't be any worse than some of these games recently. As some have stated, the other plan is a total tear down. If they know there's not going to be baseball in 2027, I certainly can see that. But overall I just don't trust the ownership and front office. And they underestimate how mad the fans are and thus how little revenue is going to be coming in, even if we suddenly start winning.
  2. Great defense and speed are two things Milwaukee is doing to win. The Twins have been the slowest team in baseball. We seem a little bit faster right now, after the trades. But our defense now looks like the worst in baseball.
  3. On the Twins TV broadcast last night, they said Bradley and Abel are both working on certain pitches, improving/changing/adding) so that may be why they are getting hit or walking more guys at AAA. Kind of like spring training, not being that concerned with the outcome. That's why we have Twins bullpen games and not them pitching in the bigs. Let's hope it works!
  4. Twins made need to increase the future budget for long names on uniforms - Bohorquez and Doktorcyzk (or do they just go with Bo and Dok?).
  5. I think everyone knew the back end of Correa's contract was not going to be good and he shouldn't be playing SS at that time. But we didn't think it would come quite this soon. As for Correa, I think he is a good person and may make a good coach in the future. I also think he gave it his best effort but, due to injuries, part of that was not hustling on ground balls that were sure outs. I just don't like that part as I think it creates a culture on a team where other guys now follow the leader and don't hustle. Yet, I understand Correa was doing it to stay healthy. Live to play another play. Thanks Carlos for your time here.
  6. My point is that on April 15th of this year, if you were the GM of the Twins, you wouldn't have given Keaschall a shot on the Twins because he was average with the Saints in a hitters league up to that point and his arm wasn't 100% yet. What's the risk next April? If he needs to work on things, we can send him back to AAA. This is what other teams do. I understand it's SS but I think the organization has to quit being so conservative. Compare Lee to Culpepper. Lee has to be much better with the bat because Culpepper is faster and has better range on D. Lee's lack of speed really hurts him. You said yourself he's been a "sub-replacement level player."
  7. "There are no worthwhile shortstops hitting free agency in the offseason and Kaelen Culpepper will need more time in the minors. " @Nick NelsonPlease compare Keaschall and Culpepper. By April of next year, Culpepper will be 23 years old. Keaschall turns 23 this week. AA stats - Keaschall first and then Culpepper Keaschall was called up to the Twins in April with 58 plate appearance's total in St. Paul (if my addition is correct). He went 12 for 46 with 1 2B and 1 HR. Why do you say Culpepper has to have more time in the minors when he is at least equal to Keaschall in very similar comparisons? Let Culpepper finish the year in the minors at AA and then AAA. But give him a legit shot to play SS for the Twins in April 2026. He's better defensively than Keaschall. Many other teams, even teams planning on going to the playoffs, do this.
  8. New ownership, new GM and new manager. I want Culpepper to start for the Twins at SS right out of the gate in 2026.
  9. Yes. Seriously, he certainly was viewed as a career minor leaguer to start this year. I still don't think he is in any national Twins top 20 prospect lists. He is trying to do one of the toughest things in baseball - make it to the big leagues after receiving the label "career minor leaguer.'
  10. Only Brooks Lee is ahead of Culpepper as future major league SS's at this point. And Lee can play 2B and 3B.
  11. Now, I see what the Twins saw in trading for Gonzalez. I have claimed he was a bust. He has to go on the 40 man roster so I guess he could be called up in September. I'm betting not though. Sure would like to hear, "and his defense continues to improve." If his defense is at least equal to Larnach and his bat is better than his, we have something here. I can see a new regime going with Culpepper at SS, Jenkins in the OF and Gonzalez at DH/OF to start 2026 (Rodriguez in the mix if he ever gets healthy. The Falvey regime, not so much.
  12. Just as a Rays player becomes known and plays well, he gets traded. Often, that trade turns out to be a good baseball decision and the team improves in the long run. Except the fans now lost the player they loved and now are less connected to the team. And that may be exactly what the Twins did in the Louie Varland trade, hopefully not minus the team improving in the long run.
  13. Yes to these 3 plus Prielipp. CJ Culpepper, probably not, just too many injuries - let's see how he pitches in the next couple months. Maybe Cardenas if we aren't signing another catcher. No to everyone else on your list right now.
  14. Possible but I don't have MacLeod or Sabato being added (Sabato more often bats in the 7-9 positions than in the 3-5 spots in the order and that tells me what the Twins think about him). And I would add Morris.
  15. Just the # of days he's in the majors, not a full year (might be some minimum of 10 or 15 just for getting called up, someone else can help out with that).
  16. What does everyone think of our IF defense next year if it's Lewis, Culpepper, Lee at 3B, SS, and 2B. With Keaschall there as well, playing as much as all of these. He plugs in at 2B and then you have the various combinations when players get a day off.
  17. I see no reason why we can't have Culpepper at SS and Jenkins in a corner OF spot to start next year. Jenkins can't be worse than Roden out there (who let's lazy fly balls drop in front of him and can't adjust to catch a shot that ends up going right over him and landing on the warning track) on defense. Rookie mistakes sure, and probably some struggles at times but overall improvement to the team.
  18. You are one of the few. To me, he's in the same bucket as Gonzalez, who started in A+ ball this year and flown right by Rosario to AAA. Rosario's stolen bases would seem to add some value but Julien also stole bases at this level and now gets pulled for a pinch runner. Gonzalez moving up isn't a good sign for Rosario.
