  1. Is it more valuable to pitch 100 innings starting at AAA or 50 innings in the majors in the bullpen? It seems to me that the Twins aren't moving any starting pitchers to the bullpen right now (not sure this Morris and Klein in hybrid mode is working). Because they aren't going to win this year, I think this is the debate. Looking at Louie Varland, the Twins basically went with 100 innings at AAA (or as a sub for an injured Twins pitcher) until right before they decided they needed him in the bullpen for a winning Twins team.

  3. Rough #'s for Gabby Gonzalez so far this year. Can someone please say he's hitting a lot of line drives right at the defenders.................................
  4. After a terrible start to the season, many were moving on from Brooks Lee. He has been very good since then. To me, the future at 3B is a competition between him and Lewis and Lee is winning. SS is a competition between Culpepper and Houston as either will provide an upgrade on defense.
  5. Love how Olivar and Mercedes are playing lately. If only Olivar projected as a catcher that could be at that position in the majors.
  6. No, Amick is not entering the Twins long-range plans. He will top out at AAA where the strikeouts and defense will prevent him from moving farther up.
  7. Mendez plays almost exclusively LF and DH. With Roden, Rodriguez, and Jenkins hurt, he has to get called up to AAA, correct?
  8. Nice to see Wallner with a couple hits. If the Twins were looking to send him down, who comes up - Roden, nope, injured. Rodriguez, nope, injured, Jenkins, nope, injured. Wallner's living a charmed life. Here's his chance to go on a hot streak.
  9. Here is the report: 1. Kody Funderburk The list ends there as we could not ethically include any of the other relief pitchers.
  10. As @DocBauer said yesterday, Ferrer is really playing well. Great minor league story this year. But guys who bat 9th consistently, as he still does, have like zero chance of playing for the Twins. Still, fun to see him killing the opposing pitchers this year.
  11. But remember since we arent really trying to win we can let this play out longer and find out which starters make it.
  12. Great to see Larnach and Jeffers doing well as both will be traded in July. Don't want to see Jeffers go but his agent will demand top dollar.
  13. I disagree on labeling Mendez a first baseman. He has started a grand total of 1 game and played 11 innings this year at 1B. His 17 games played at LF is odd to me. He's behind Rodriguez, Jenkins and Roden in the minors. He's has almost zero chance of playing LF for the Twins.
  14. Our Twins are who we thought they were!! Very good starting pitching, a mediocre offense that can get just barely more runs than the starting pitching allows, and a worthless bullpen (who will have some spurts where they look okay).
  15. Watching low A baseball has to be hard sometimes. I notice all the errors in the boxscore - Mercedes with two fielding errors in the OF and Young making his 11th error of the month. Got some work to do in the field.
  16. LH corner OF hurt - that is one place we have depth. E-Rod's OPS is decent at AAA. If needed, he will be called up. But let him play 6 days a week for now with the Saints. Besides, it seems like Martin deserves more playing time against RH's right now with the Twins.
  17. Certainly a hot start for some of our pitchers in the minors - Ellwanger and Moring have combined for 24.2 innings without allowing an earned run at Fort Myers.
  18. If Rodriguez is about here and surely Jenkins will be coming at some point, why do we have Roden again? With Buxton, we have the outfield covered and Austin Martin complements the lefties (Jenkins and Rodriguez).
  19. We have a problem in Cedar Rapids. In just 3 innings, the opponent stole 7 bases on Jason Doktorcyck and Eduardo Tait. Does one of them have an issue in this department or both of them? Maybe someone knows better than me. I'm thinking the hit by pitch knocked Tait out of the game. They did steal 11 bases in the game not getting caught once.
