  1. Sands seems like a great Jax 2.0, Henriquez looks more like a long-reliever who can handle 2-3 innings at a time, maybe even have a higher ceiling. Ober seems like the start and could use a long-reliever to back him up, maybe work in the pen could help too, we’ll see
  2. 1. Can Alex Kirilloff stay healthy or is he the next Byron Buxton? 2. what does a healthy Trevor Larnach look like and what is his ceiling? 3. can they find 2019 Emilio Pagan? 4. Will we get the good, the bad, or the ugly Jorge Lopez? 5. What will Ryan Jeffers look like Offensively?
  3. Julien and Lewis look like they both could do it if they perform well enough when they reach the majors. I’d be fine with Gallo if he’s more of the 2019/early 2021 Gallo, if not then put him at the lower end of the lineup. Polanco and Buxton both could get some reps in and see if they stick. Correa is a big no. I do like one external option that still fits perfectly into this lineup: Mark Canha. The Twins should swap good defense for a high-OBP Righty bat, who could easily be the leadoff hitter of 2023.
  4. The Twins should start Celestino, Winder and Megill in Saint Paul; Celestino and Winder need more time to bloom into major-league players while Megill has to settle his stuff and hopefully maintain the 2.25 ERA he had before the All-Star break.
  5. I think that the Twins shouldn’t be done w/ Miami, I like how Garrett Cooper/Joey Wendle fit into this lineup. I’d prefer Cooper as a RH 1B/DH/Emergency OF option, plus he offers serious upside w/ the bat. Maybe a 1-for-1 swap with Kep would work?
  6. Pagan’s problem is easy to fix: stop throwing fastballs down the middle. He strikes out a ton of batters, has a good arm and solid off-speeds, but him using his fastball 51.7% of the time in the heart of the plate isn’t working. Even just readjusting where he’s throwing to would be enough
  7. For this team this looks like the trajectory for the future. I don’t think any of the arms in the Twin’s system are necessarily bad arms, but none of them look the part of a budding Ace. Ryan and Ober are about to be very good #2/#3 type arms, while Varland, SWR, Winder, Balazovic and Festa all look the part of solid 3-5s. I’ll give props to Prielipp, Raya and Canterino as they look like the most likely to turn into Aces of the bunch, but still haven’t necessarily reached that peak yet. With how this team has developed a very strong number of strong bats over the years trading them off for the premium Aces of the league seems like the go-to. I hope they can throw $20-$30m at an Ace soon, hopefully next off-season (I would LOVE for Nola or Urias to sign in MN) but with how payroll checks out that doesn’t seem like a reality yet, therefore trading these pieces looks like the only option.
  8. Doubt it, firstly they’d move someone to the pen and option down a reliever. I think Gray and Kepler are about to go, we still need another strong bat, a RH OF and a High-End Relief Pitcher to make a serious push this year, and Gray and Kepler seem like enough to get those trades done.
  9. Use Duran in high-leverage if you REALLY need him, but I’d say keep him as the prototypical Closer. When you have a 0.42 ERA in the 9th inning for more than 15 innings the closer role is yours undoubtedly.
  10. He had injury concerns as a starter and I think he’ll have Jorge Lopez syndrome: a lights-out reliever or a 5.00 ERA starter, and I think everyone will pick the former.
  11. Having Lee/Lewis/Correa as our 2B/3B/SS combo for the foreseeable future would be wonderful, Lewis looks like a stud SS and Lee looks like the second-coming of Trea Turner (while being just a little slower), Martin likely follows in the footsteps of Nick Gordon and is suited more for a 2B/LF/CF utility role, while Miller and Schobel look more like eventual trade pieces
  12. I think it’s time to say goodbye to Arraez. I really enjoy him, he’s the toughest out in baseball and gets on base a whole lot. But he’s injury prone, doesn’t play great defense and has 0 power. I think last year was Arraez’s ceiling and trading him away for high-end pitching would be the best move. The Twins need top-end pitching and honestly I’d rather have Lee/Lewis than Arraez, plus I think Kirilloff/Miranda are due for breakout years. But, to be completely honest the real reason I want to trade Arraez is because you’ll have Arraez 2.0 ready before the end of the year. Edouard Julien has been a beast in the minors, holding an OPS of .922 between 2 minor league seasons. He’s a literal copy paste of Arraez, a lefty utility infielder with fantastic plate discipline resulting in extreme on-base numbers, on top of running faster and hitting for solid power as opposed to Arraez. He’ll be a core piece of this infield even by 2024 and his arrival will push Arraez out for better pitching in return.
  13. I can’t wait to see this infield in 2 years (as long as the Twins don’t trade away the serious prospect talents we have), Kirilloff at 1st and a mix of Correa/Lee/Lewis between 2nd/3rd and short, with Miranda and either Arraez or Julien as backup options. Elite.
  14. I would say marginal improvement, a new trainer will help and Vázquez/Farmer/Gallo are decent pickups. Correa being back is huge confidence-wise, I’d say they need to make a substantial move in the pitching staff to have a A+ off-season, get an Ace and a good high-end reliever.
  15. I really like this deal. With a guy like Adam Frazier getting $8 million in free agency extending a guy on a 3-year/$12.5m deal is a very good move. Hopefully they can extend more players, specially core players.
  16. I like a few of the options here: Kim is an upgrade over Farmer and would be a perfect placeholder for Lewis/Lee, as he can cover SS and 3B relatively well, plus it’d be an upgrade over Miranda at 3rd. Snell seems like an intriguing #2 type who fits the Twin’s style of pitching: throw 5 solid innings an outing and don’t try to do more. We have the payroll to eat his one-year contract and I like the variety of a lefty in the rotation. I doubt they give up Machado/Tatis/Darvish but that’s fine. Grisham and Morejon look like interesting pieces but I won’t make this comment too long. Gray and Kepler would slot in well in San Diego, so we have assets they would like too. Let’s see if a trade happens and if we can get the better side of the deal this time.
  17. Kepler should be traded, Gallo might be shipped at the deadline if Larnach/Kirilloff/Gordon/Wallner are all healthy and major-league ready, I could see one of that foursome being shipped for pitching at the deadline or next off-season (most likely Larnach) but they should be kept until we see a full healthy season of each of them.
  18. Minors: Twins option Gilberto Celestino and Trevor Megill to AAA to start the year Trades: 3 team trade between Twins, Phillies & Rays. Twins get SP Tyler Glasnow and OF Manuel Margot from Rays, RP Jose Alvarado from Phillies; Rays get SP Bailey Ober, RP Jovani Moran and RHP David Festa #11p from Twins, OF Johan Rojas #5p from the Phillies; Phillies get SP Sonny Gray and RP Emilio Pagan from Twins, PTBNL from Rays. Twins/Padres: Twins Acquire IF Ha-Seong Kim, SP Blake Snell and LHP Adrian Morejon from Padres in Exchange for IF Luis Arraez, OF Max Kepler and OF Kyle Garlick. Twins sign Trey Mancini to a 1yr/$10.5m deal, as well as C Zack Collins to a 1yr/$800k minor-league deal. Add $3m to Overall Total for Minor-League players. C: Christian Vazquez ($10.00M) 1B: Alex Kirilloff ($0.70M) 2B: Jorge Polanco ($7.50M) 3B: Jose Miranda ($0.70M) SS: Ha-Seong Kim ($7.00M) LF: Trevor Larnach ($0.70M) CF: Byron Buxton ($15.00M) RF: Joey Gallo ($11.00M) DH: Trey Mancini ($10.50M) 4th OF: Manuel Margot ($0.70M) Utility: Nick Gordon ($0.70M) Utility: Kyle Farmer ($0.70M) Backup C: Ryan Jeffers ($0.70M) SP1: Tyler Glasnow ($5.35M) SP2: Tyler Mahle ($7.18M) SP3: Blake Snell ($16.60M) SP4: Joe Ryan ($0.70M) SP5: Kenta Maeda ($3.12M) RP: Jhoan Duran ($0.70M) RP: Jorge Lopez ($3.65M) RP: Griffin Jax ($0.70M) RP: Jorge Alcala ($0.85M) RP: Caleb Thielbar ($2.25M) RP: Josh Winder ($0.70M) RP: Adrian Morejon ($0.80M) RP: Jose Alvarado ($4.00M) Payroll is 19.64% under budget
  19. Honorable mention that I didn’t see on here, Dylan Bundy’s performance against Arizona on June 18th, going 8 innings (the longest outing by a starter all season) with 4 hits and a single run, along with 7 punch-outs.
  20. Maeda should start in the pen, let him warm up after Tommy John Surgery. Then: Jax, Pagan (I don’t like him but he was strong in the 6th/7th so don’t let him touch any inning after that), Alcala, Thielbar, Lopez and Duran. Megill has options, use them. You only need 1 high-end reliever, I’d go with either Corey Knebel or Andrew Chafin, both have good numbers and experience in the 8th/9th.
  21. I definitely think we could’ve topped Rodon’s Contract, but the rest I’m not upset about. Swanson’s gonna regress, Bassitt was bad in the postseason and isn’t a true Ace, I like Vázquez so a Contreras miss isn’t bad, and Syndergaard wouldn’t have done anything more than be a slight improvement to Bundy.
  22. Thanks for bringing this up, the Twins DEFINITELY still need to fix the left side of the infield, adding one more guy over there would be crucial. I also like the options of Max Muncy and Yoan Moncada, who wouldn’t be hard to get, as well as utility players like Ha-Seong Kim, Adalberto Mondesi and Joey Wendle.
  23. Escobar wouldn’t be a bad get, he’s not too expensive and is a better 3B option than Miranda
  24. With the current roster size, a trade is likely coming. I think Eovaldi is the only real SP left in free agency that could provide serious quality, and another high-end reliever for the pen would be good. I think we still have issues on offense, you need to seriously improve the left side of the infield and get another righty OF, hopefully one that can improve center field.
  25. Pitching wins ball games. Get some guys who can give you quality starts consistently (Gray/Mahle/Ryan/Ober/Maeda is already strong, but could use an Ace) and a lockdown bullpen, which a mix of Jax/Pagan/Thielbar/Alcala/Lopez/Duran is very effective already, and only really needs another high-end reliever to complete the pen. The offense should be fine, it needs a star that’s healthy to really have this team make a pivot, but as it stands looks just fine. The left side of the infield could use help and a RH OF is still needed but it shouldn’t take too much to get those players.
