  1. I still think Buck is very good in the outfield. I watch most of the games and I can only recall one ball that he flat out dropped. I do think he is playing conservatively in the outfield when the games aren’t close which might be why the metrics arent liking him as much (or it could be because they aren’t that accurate). But he can still go get it when he needs to. I think he will always be streaky with the bat but I will enjoy the heater right now.
  2. You are going to be disappointed.
  3. I don’t think there is anything to prove. Max is a good outfielder and an average to slightly below average hitter. If that works for a team go for it.
  4. I think your feelings are shared by many. And I can empathize with them.
  5. As always you don’t know what you have in a hitter, good or bad, until they have 1000-1500 at bats. I don’t care much about his strikeouts when he has that kind of power. It’s the meh hitters who strike out that cripple the lineup. I also think if you put him in right field he will get smoother and his arm will be a weapon. This will be especially true in the smaller right field at Target Field.
  6. I agree about health but specifically the health of López Ober and Ryan. The lineup has already sustained injuries but kept on producing pretty well. If any of the three pitchers go down for an extended period, maybe even as short as a 15 day IL stint it’s going to knock them out IMO.
  7. I realize that people are disappointed and are piling on the Pohlads right now but if you step back and look at their ownership tenure they have invited healthy doses of skepticism. They have threatened to move the franchise, threatened to contract the franchise and generally placed achieving fiscal goals as their top priority. So when they come off an off season like the one we just experienced, what do you expect people to think or say? I don’t consider the Pohlads evil incarnate but can anybody actually be shocked by fans being frustrated?
  8. Obviously we don’t know what was discussed between the Twins and other teams. I’m not disappointed that they made a bad deal because they were desperate. But 65+ players were traded so somehow other teams found deals to their liking.
  9. Huh? No it’s an observation of how the Twins have operated during the Pohlad family ownership. Nothing to do with Cleveland.
  10. This. People can argue this detail and that income stream. Just take a step back and look at the way the franchise has operated throughout their tenure and it becomes clear. They are going to operate the franchise with an eye towards meeting certain fiscal goals and hopefully winning some games along the way.
  11. This is a good point. They could miss the playoffs as easily as they could make them. And if they miss them the Twins will have two groups of fans: angry in one and apathetic in the other.
  12. Yep. I mean I hope they make the playoffs but they are right on the edge. There is no guarantee they make it. If they miss the playoffs this year look out. The negative vibe towards ownership / FO will be over the top I truly wonder if the Twins brass understands how their fan base (also known as their customers) feels about them.
  13. I’m not surprised that no moves were made. Falvey has made it clear they are aiming ongoing competitive success and all deals are made with an eye toward the future. With so many extra playoff teams I think the trade deadline now is a poor way to improve your club as choices are fewer and prices are higher. The time to address the obvious need for starting pitching was last off season. I don’t think it can be overstated how bad last offseason was for this franchise.
  14. The premise of this article is not realistic. Headrick has shown nothing that would indicate he is a solution to the problem.
  15. Me too in a heartbeat. Which probably means it’s not enough.
  16. SWRs outing was, in a way, a reminder that the guy has pitched pretty darn well. Just a couple of clunkers like last night which will happen to all pitchers. His expected numbers are higher but still pretty good.
  17. This FO has made it clear their overall goal is sustainable success. I highly doubt they trade any of our better prospects to take a stab at 2024. The time to add a good starter was last winter and we didn’t.
  18. If the deal is reasonable I would not let next year deter me from adding Cortes. Frankly I think it would be nice to have 6 guys competing for 5 spots. Eventually we will need all 6 and then some.
  19. Well Forbes reported that the Twins made $19 million last year. I think I’m going to trust that more than your “insight”. On a broader scale the value of a business is determined by how much income it generates. The fact that the value of the Twins has gone from $44 million to $1.5 billion tells you they are making money. Lastly the Pohlads aren’t stupid. They have hundreds of millions dollars invested in this franchise. They aren’t going to stand for not making a competitive rate of return on all that money. Hell they could have it in the stock market and make an historical rate of return of 15%.
  20. Meet Vasquez our starting catcher.
  21. Martin has hit two balls right on the nose with nothing to show for it.
  22. Please run. Kenya’s going to throw a bunch of 84 mph splitters.
