  1. I too would like a manager with prior experience. Specifically I want someone with a strong background in fundamental baseball. The Twins could improve by 6-8 games next year by executing basic plays reliably.
  2. Polanco looking good.
  3. Whatever the FO does, just don’t straddle the middle. Blow it up or make the moves necessary to strongly compete in 26 That would require money spent on free agents and a couple of shrewd trades so not sure how likely that is.
  4. Spot on. If they are going to compete next year one way to do it is to turn Ryan into a good bat or two. The pitching staff could likely survive it and this lineup needs a makeover.
  5. I’m glad he pitched better after the break. He’s earned a spot in the pen next year. I remain skeptical that this level of performance is the new Funderburk.
  6. This. The last credible estimate of Twins profitability came from Forbes who reported the Twins made $19 million in 2023.
  7. Not dumb at all - he could be. The rub is the new team would have to be willing to pay his arbitration number and give you something back in return. Which is the unlikely part.
  8. He is 24 so I think if that was possible it would have been done by now. Pitchers are a different animal because they have set deliveries and are training a kinetic chain to obtain higher velocity. Infielders make a variety of throws.
  9. Here is the problem: they can keep all their guys, sign a marginal free agent or two and try to build a bullpen on the fly. And win 78 games in 26 and watch the lockout in 27 at which point López, Ryan, Ober and Jeffers are all gone. Or you can trade them for players that, combined with current prospects, can open a legitimate window of contention in 28 and beyond. Is this the scenario I wanted? Nope. But they made their bed at the trade deadline (I assume knowingly).
  10. I don’t think he has surplus trade value at a $5 million arb number. So if you tender him with the idea of trading him you are taking a risk that you will have to keep him. You could tender him if you want him as a placeholder for 26 waiting for EmRod or Jenkins but that doesn’t improve the team.
  11. Some Twins like defense on that play.
  12. He doesn’t have the arm or the range to be a big league plus SS. In fact he needs to hit substantially better next year to stick in the bigs over the long run.
  13. To say Rocco wasnt the problem is nonsensical. You could say he wasn’t the only problem and I would say Falvey is a bigger problem but there is a mountain of evidence that most of his teams underperformed. The lack of basic fundamentals in the field and on the bases was inexcusable (and very damning on the minor league system) but Rocco made out the lineups and kept playing guys that constantly made mistakes.
  14. Mine would have been Buck and then Ryan and then an empty ballot for the rest.
  15. I would rather have a good pitching staff rather than worry too much about the method used to acquire said pitchers. However being good at drafting and developing pitchers is an important piece because you don’t have to give up trade assets to acquire them.
  16. I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist but here goes. The Twins found the market for their club tepid at best. Perhaps in order to seal the deal with the minority partners they promised to tank the payroll and suck $50 million out of the Twins in 2026 and whatever they could get in 2027 giving the investors a nice return right out of the gate. Because of how bad the club was they could claim it was a baseball move. It also makes sense that nobody that is serious about competing in the near future blows up their entire pen. Falveys response about Ryan and López seems to indicate they will be gone as well freeing up all kinds of cash for the owners. Might as well trade Jeffers and have mercy on Buxton.
  17. Watching Hunter Greene. I’m thinking we missed on that one.
  18. Abel is really efficient tonight.
  19. Good catch by Martin but he didn’t know where the wall was. Lucky he didn’t get hurt.
  20. I’m excited for 2027-28. we should have a drastically different lineup which will be faster and better in the field. Hopefully some of this pitching pans out as I believe Ryan and López will be traded by then. Next year could be rough if we are just running it back.
  21. I’m excited about Hill and intrigued by Priellip. That about covers it for me.
  22. I was thinking the same thing. He looked to be a AAAA pitcher before. It seems like he is throwing more and better strikes
