  1. At this point I would say no because the salary savings won’t be reinvested. 6 weeks ago? Yes in a minute.
  2. I’m confused. They tried to option Kiriloff and he forced them to put him on the IL.
  3. I think he looks better at the place this spring for whatever that is worth. Unfortunately he is pretty much a DH if you care at all about defense.
  4. There are others more knowledgeable about the rules but I believe you cannot dfa a player while injured. Also, since he was on the 40 man and had not been sent to minors yet I believe he will be on the mlb IL meaning he will be able to collect a nice check for a while. Eventually he will have to face the pitch or be released problem.
  5. Seems like shoulder injuries are often the final blow for pitchers, especially older pitchers. Doesn’t bode well for for Tonkin or Topa.
  6. Gotta feel for Canterino. The injuries have been relentless and the rehab work involved has to be daunting. Your dream is right there and snatched away as soon as you can reach for it.
  7. I think his pitches are fine. I mean improve them if you can but I think his future will be determined by his ability to command his pitches.
  8. I’ve watched baseball for 55+ years and can’t recall a pitching line like Rayas today. 5 runs allowed but doesn’t give up a hit or record an out. 3 hit batters and two walks. Come to think of it, I can’t recall seeing three hit batters in one inning. Baseball.
  9. Listening on the radio for the first time this spring. Attebury has yet to come up for air. It’s almost a frenetic amount of talking - completely distracts from the natural pace of baseball.
  10. Yea he didn’t fool anyone. His spring has been less than impressive.
  11. This. The final score comparison doesn’t matter because they could could be pitching in a one run run or tie game but the final score ends up with a four run differential. Plus if you play lots of close games which the Twins did last year you go through your pen more quickly and everyone gets used regardless of score.
  12. Seems odd that Castellano is left in for almost 40 pitches
  13. I’m surprised to say this but Gasper looks better than I was anticipating Looks like he can handle first and has a decent swing. If he could catch at all he would be an intriguing bench piece. Also see what they like in Castellano. That curveball is legit.
  14. 2 per game. If you are correct then you get to keep that challenge.
  15. Kicked it and then double clutched it. Crisp double play started by Gasper.
  16. Funny - just did that before I read your post. I miss the crack of the bat though.
  17. Jeffers seems to be adept at using the challenge system. Of the games I have watched he has been correct on every challenge I believe.
  18. Was just going to post that. Have to look carefully to know who they are playing.
  19. Remember the logjam we were worrying about? Breaking right up before it’s a problem.
  20. Lee and Castro can fill in for this season. Going forward SS is as big a black hole in our farm system as catcher. None of the names listed have the potential to be a good mlb SS. Culpepper would be the top choice but independent scouting reports say he doesn’t have the quickness and lateral movement required. I don’t know much about De Andrade glove so I will leave him out.
  21. Not anymore but he was one of the better middle infielders available at the time of the trade. I agree about whiffing on the evaluation - that is my point. I think people are assuming that I didn’t want Polanco traded. Not true - I was all for trading him or Julien plus prospects for pitching. The idea was sound; the execution was poor.
  22. Of course the players coming back are relevant because those are the assets you acquired. The payroll is a legit asset acquired but we don’t know who that money actually went to. It’s okay to admit Falvey messed that one up.
  23. What Polanco did after the trade is irrelevant. At the time of the trade he was still a valuable asset that the FO turned into nothing.
