  1. Come on Chief give a slow guy a chance.
  2. Where did this bullpen come from?
  3. Good thinking. Loved Tucson. By the time I left I was actually hoping for a few clouds to roll by.
  4. My biggest surprise was the Rio Grande. I was expecting something……er, more. Loved Santa Fe and Tucson. You winter there?
  5. Went from Santa Fe to Truth or Consequences and on to Tucson.
  6. Went through there last spring for the first time. Had no idea.
  7. Hatch is a small town in New Mexico. Nothing but green chiles fields everywhere. World famous.
  8. Hatch looks like he wants a spot next year. I think Wallner should retool his swing. He has so much power he could eliminate the leg kick and still hit it a mile.
  9. I don’t get it. Can you elaborate?
  10. I’m taking satisfaction from this butt kicking of Paddack. The “sheriff “ always bugged me
  11. SSS but we have gotten some good performances from our new guys on the farm. Seth: really appreciate that you list the positions played and strike percentages.
  12. The Twins have been a PR nightmare for a long time. This episode falls right in line with that history. You know the old business saying “know your customer “? They don’t.
  13. There is a way forward to be successful relatively quickly but it will require some out of the box thinking and a couple of astute trades. Those two requirements may deem this impossible but here goes. If the Twins have a surplus of talent it would be pitching and they need a couple of bats badly. So deal López for a good cost controlled bat, preferably an outfielder who is athletic, can play defense and doesnt need to be platooned. Trade Larnach and and a prospect (maybe Julien?) for a bat first first baseman. With this new outfielder and Keaschall in the lineup we now have some speed and athleticism. With Pablo’s salary gone we should be in a stable position to hang onto our younger players through arbitration and maybe extend a couple. Now for the out of box thinking: grab your 15 best pitchers regardless of current role. The first 5 are your starters, the next two go to St Paul for the depth you will need at some point. The next 8 go to the pen. It’s Maki’s job to get enough innings for the younger guys that they could still stretch out and start later in the year if needed or next spring training. Think Abel or Bradley for example. This is a team that could be competitive next year and really good in a couple years. When / if Em Rod or Jenkins need a spot Wallner DH s or is traded. Lee gets SS until Culpepper is ready.
  14. Tough one. Greenes grab at the wall on Buck was a huge play. Julien had a really nice - made a couple nice plays at first.
  15. I think the difference between teams like the Twins and teams like the Brewers or Rays isnt some secret sauce formula. If we know what they are doing all the teams in baseball know. It comes down to executing a plan based on excellent player evaluation and development combined with sound strategic decisions. Our FO / ownership group isnt in the same league with those other teams.
  16. Nothing would make me happier than the Pohlads having to write Buck a big fat check
  17. I’m disappointed but not surprised. I think the Pohlads were sincere in their desire to sell at their price. Short of that they weren’t going to accept anything less. Perhaps they realized that they could field a competitive younger team that doesnt require even an average payroll. López might as well start researching realtors as he’s a goner. The worst part is that now Falvey is here for the long haul. You know do the same thing and expect a different result.
  18. Kind of misleading to compare a guy who is a legit SS and a guy who will likely play 2nd base. And that is not a knock on Keaschall just being real.
  19. This lineup needs a jolt and the two obvious places to do it are LF and 1st base. If they run Larnach back and hand first to Clemens I will consider it a failure (Clemens can be a utility guy). I’m also hopeful they will be able to raise the quality of the pen to the point where Funderburk is not a part of it
  20. It would seem like job one is to square up the ball with elevation. Presumably bat speed doesnt do much good with poor contact.
  21. I think he is misjudged a bit due to his size. He’s got good speed and good hands with a really strong arm. He’s not going to look “typical” because few players are as tall as he is that play the infield. Ive seen him make some plays that no other Twins SS can make. He’s a unicorn for sure.
  22. Thanks for this article. Lots of info. Royce has improved in the field. I don’t really trust fielding metrics but even something as basic as no throwing errors is illustrative. I would deem him average and hopefully he goes up from there. As others have pointed out he has to hit.
