  1. Not sure I agree with the Pablo love entirely. He has an 8-0 lead and can’t go more than six? Quit nibbling and throw it over.
  2. Man on second. Two outs. Two strikes Julien takes a called strike three looking. Swing the effing bat. This crap drives me crazy.
  3. It’s not going to get any better. This is the lineup the FO compiled and there isn’t really any changing it. Polo healthy would help and Wallner deserves a shot. After that the cupboard is bare. Larnach can’t hit anything offspeed and Miranda and Julien are DHs. Who else is there? Anybody have confidence in this FO making the right decisions at the trade deadline? They do not deserve the chance to start over. They’ve tanked the farm system and compiled an aging roster that can’t hit or run and is mediocre at best in the field.
  4. I would add the Pressly trade for sure. We gave up a year and a half of a scarce commodity for essentially nothing. I think the Berrios trade is going to end badly. Should have kept him for another year and a half and gotten a comp pick. My prediction is that neither SWR or Martin do much in the big leagues.
  5. Another aspect of this could be too much information. The hitting coaches might be setting up plans that are too rigid. It seems like our hitters are locked into looking for certain pitches in certain counts. If they get a different pitch than what the game plan predicted they are screwed which is why we see so many strikeouts looking. Essentially we’ve got an entire team of guess hitters.
  6. I was very critical of Jeffers last year, particularly his defense. He has improved noticeably more than I thought possible. Castro is a great fit for the 26th man on the roster.
  7. Julien is an absolute butcher in the field. This whole mess would be avoided if he just makes the routine double play. No infield in so the duck fart to center is caught. He’s brutal. No way he is a future second baseman for this club.
  8. And what would you like Wallner to do show he deserves a shot?
  9. This is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. No way they pick up $3 million for this guy.
  10. As does Buxton. I wish posters would stop with this nonsense.
  11. I’ve had similar thoughts. One difference is the overall athletic ability of each player. Royce will likely improve wherever they play him but Julien just doesn’t have it.
  12. Baseball is a funny game. Our bullpen frequently implodes even when we only need a couple of innings. They roll out the whole pen in this game and they are nearly perfect. Might be time for Headrick to get a real shot at a permanent spot not just the shuttle.
  13. Would be fun to watch him pitch but he has a long way to go.
  14. I have no idea. All I know is that whenever I watch him he makes all the plays he should along with some he shouldn’t. Having to start on the dirt probably restricts his range. I would pay money just to watch the man throw. His arm strength is obvious but he is also incredibly accurate. That’s a combination not often seen.
  15. I feel they are better defensively this year. Jeffers has improved behind the plate and Miranda and Celestino aren’t playing which helps a bunch. About the only poor fielder they are rolling out there is Julien and that is only because Polanco is hurt.
  16. Tough call. When healthy he is far better than any other potential replacement. I also think it’s not accurate to say we have Lee Julien and Martin to take his place. Julien is a dh Martin completely unproven and Lee still needs development.
  17. This. There is no point in extending him unless he signs for virtually nothing. The original problems were with shoulder which is even more ominous than elbow problems. Move on-trade didn’t work-it happens.
  18. I’ve been skeptical of defensive stats since Josh Willingham had better defensive numbers than Torii Hunter. I guess I’m ant-intellectual. Some above made the best observation: the Twins haven’t developed any outfielders good enough to take his place during his tenure. That’s not good.
  19. What is the scouting report on Camargos defense? Do we suddenly have a legit catching prospect?
  20. Just make the plays in the field and we win even with Pagan pitching. Julien is a DH. We seem to have several players that profile similarly.
  21. So many players playing well at AAA? Plethora of live arms in St Paul? I think you need to slow the roll a little. Wallner has earned a shot. Headrick deserves another look. Julien maybe should get a couple DH at bats. That’s it. The good news is Lewis and Kiriloff are already here so the transition to a younger different lineup has already begun.
  22. I see lots of let the young guys play comments on these boards. As Gleeman would say what are we even talking about here? Everyone can agree that Wallner should be up. Then who are these marvelous young players people are clamoring for? Ed Julien can’t carry Polanco jock. Miranda is scuffling. Martin is rehabbing and hasn’t proven anything. Brooks Lee? 50 decent games at AA and we are calling him up? The cupboard is pretty empty on the farm. Besides their two best young hitters are Kiriloff and Lewis and both are here.
