Great game by Ryan..plus the Twins won it on its own without help from the opponent. If Correa and Polanco ever get going watch out.

Yes ugly win. But a win nonetheless. Tigers baled out Baldelli just like Buxton bailed out Baldellis in game managing skills the game before. Kepler was the main offense. Buxton, Correa, and Polanco at the top of the order went 0 for 11. Correa still looks terrible at the plate and leads the team in strikeouts. We are all sure he will come around soon. Thanks Tigers for your error. It erased a terrible base running display that should have ended the game. Let's go for 6 in a row tonight guys.

Correa was a nice signing for the Twins. However there is no way the Twins are going to sign him long term to a mega million dollar deal. He wants to use us for a year, let's use him for a year. Let him leave after the season. We have enough young developing talent coming up. I know it's early but so far he has done very little to nothing to justify a twins team to invest $35 million per year. I hope and assume he will come around. I just don't think he's worth that long term commitment to. And the twins generally don't do long term deals. No way they extend him.

Let's Cut Miguel Sanó Some Slack
Whitey333 replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sano always goes through this. Pretty soon he will be hot for a week or two then go back to his normal ways. He is just playing himself off the Twins at end of season. No way Twins should pick up his option this off season. Whatever happened to the "eye test"? You can tell he's been awful by watching his plate appearances. He looks lost. He is basically an automatic out in the batting order. He's hitting .083 and still strikes out way too much. He will come out of it I hope but it just goes to show what kind of " stats" one can find to make a bad hitter look good. Hitting in bad luck, oh please. When he hits a hot streak then everything will be forgotten until he goes cold again. He needs a change of scenery to get his career going again. It's obvious the manager and coaches can't fix him. -
Baldelli is a stiff for a manager. Using your logic regarding days off, why not give Sano days off, or Polanco. There's nothing wrong with a day off, they are important! But to refuse to use him in obvious pinch hitting situations with runners on base is inexcusable! Would it have been so hard for Correa to bat once and play ss for a couple of innings? I stand by my comments and insist that had Buxton not bailed him out, people would have been after Baldelli for his " strategy". Great game Buxton.

I agree Buxton is awesome. He saved Baldelli today. His refusal to use Correa in key pinch hitting opportunities was disgraceful. It wasn't lost on the radio broadcasters as well. Beldelli continues to mismanage this team. You pay a superstar $35 million a year yet don't use him in a key situation to try and win the game. If not for Buxton Baldelli would have had a lot of questions to answer. Did Carrea need a day off? He just had one a few days ago. Besides there was already a day off Monday. Baldelli gets an F for the day. Buxton an A+. The A for a great performance. The + for bailing out Baldelli..

Is Byron Buxton Baseball's Best Player?
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Great player yes. Great month of April yes. But he is not the best player in baseball. He may be the best at this short moment in time but he needs to prove it over playing a full season. He may wind up being the best and I hope so. Unfortunately his injury history has greatly held him back. If the Twins have any chance to be a contender they need him for the entire season. He is awesome to watch. I'm glad the Twins locked him into a long term deal.- 42 replies

Sorry Seth. Didn't mean to upset your view of the Twins. I had just asked why Correa isn't playing again today? He's already had one or two days off already. I was suggesting with his salary and all the hype he should be playing. If you disagree with that fine. Don't need to get snippy. Or is your opinion the only one that matters here?

Has anyone heard why Correa isn't in the lineup Sunday? I'm assuming he must be hurt or sick or something. Not even our weird manager would give a $35 million dollar another scheduled day off. Gordon playing short today is ok but Correa has already had days off and certainly hasn't lived up to that hefty payday so far. If I was the front office or owner I would want him in there when I'm paying him that much. But we have to keep sending automatic out Sano there almost every day. I'm hoping for a good day from Sano. Correa? What's the story? Unless he's hurt/ sick he should be playing especially in front of the home crowd. Some people still pay a lot of money to watch a ballgame at Target field. They deserve to have their best available lineup out there.

Buxton day off wasn't to see how his knee would respond. Baldelli said it was his scheduled day off. And we know we can't interrupt Baldellis analytics computer schedule. That would be wrong.

3 Takeaways from Friday's Win Over the White Sox
Whitey333 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yes MLB has at many times become unwatchable. It is at times too slow paced. Many times it is just plain boring. However one of the many great things about baseball is a slower pace than the other sports. And I generally like all the sports. To me baseball is meant to be slower paced ( but not this slow). I think what is hurting the game is the video game atmosphere it has created with all these silly and ridiculous analytics pushing the game. Also all the swing for the fences or nothing mentality being coached throughout baseball. Home plate umpiring has become atrocious. Way too many strikeouts. Strikeouts don't produce anything for offense. Then people defend their players striking out all the time. The game, in it's current state, is very hard to watch. I still watch it after all these years because I like the game of baseball. No matter how and why MLB seems hellbent on destroying it. -
Finally a great overall Twins win!! I sure hope this gets the offense going on a more regular basis. Let's sweep the White Sox.

Can the Twins Lineup Turn it Around?
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Why are the Twins so high on Kyle Garlick? He certainly isn't a good pinch hitter. After Baldelli takes him out for guys who were hitting during the game, Larnach had two hits, then another day he pinch hit for someone who has homered. He usually strikes out or gets light contact. Does not produce. Plus he's a liability defensively. I understand Rocco's computer may tell him to pin h hit Garlick for someone that's is actually hitting. It's working out great so far, right?- 32 replies

Can the Twins Lineup Turn it Around?
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
What's so frustrating for the offense is that almost all of the lineup is drastically underperforming at the same time. Sano is such an enigma. But he's always been that. This year even more so. He is hitting well south of .100 he sure seems to be sinking his fate this year with the Twins. Correa is hitting well below .200. These people are paid a lot of money to produce. Between the two of them they are being paid in excess of $45 million this year or about a third of the team payroll. Isn't it ok to expect more of them? Jeffers is a decent defensive catcher but can't hit major league pitching. Buxton got off to a great start his first few games then he too quit hitting before being injured again. By the way the invested a lot of money in him too. They need him if this team has a chance. Sox gave the Twins a win last night as the Twins only managed 5 hits. They have scored a total of 3 runs in the past three games. Two of them from white Sox errors. Today Twins need to finally get the bats going, beat Chicago, and put the division on notice that the Twins are going to be a force. If the bats don't show some life the will be a farce. We've already wasted games where we got great starting pitching.- 32 replies

Nice win! I won't call it a great win just a nice one. The following games is what is going to determine if the offense is really turning it around. The fact that the White Sox gave away the game doesn't mean we broke a slump. The offense scored 2 basically free runs. Twins only had 5 hits and the offense was very anemic again! I'm very happy that all the central division clubs, including the Twins, are hovering around .500. I think that bodes well for the Twins if they can get their offense to play in sinc with the great starting pitching we have gotten. If that happens soon the rest of the central had better watch out for the Twins. The last three games the Twins have lost 2-0, won 1-0 and won 2-1. The fact they won two of those games is amazing and a tribute to the starting pitching. If we can continue to get consistent solid starting pitching, and if the bats ever wake up, it could really be fun. Today is a big game in Twins trying to turn the corner. A solid win would help!

In Appreciation Of Dick Bremer
Whitey333 replied to Dave Overlund's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm not a big fan of Bremer but you got to give him credit. He has a great voice, is extremely knowledgeable and laid back. He's not a shout in your face loud mouth like some others. I really like that about him. I do find him way too home ish at times. Like Twins trailing 8-0, have made 3 errors only only have 3 hits yet he tells us they are playing great. He tends to bend over backwards not to criticize players or managers. I understand he has to deal with those people everyday so it's safe to be non critical on air. And no I don't like the guys who question everything a player does. Or the player analyst in the booth that acts like they never made a mistake on the field. I do miss Bert on there with Bremer. The color commentators on there now are pretty bland. Even though I don't like his style, Dick Bremer is a true professional. He has been a true ambassador to the Twins. I hope he stays for as long as he wants. He's earned that. -
Still need to get our offense going. We should have taken at least two of three against a poor Royals team. I believe we scored 4 runs in 3 games against some questionable pitchers. Plus we have only scored 1 run in the past 18 innings. Last year we were told in April that it's too early to worry. Yet we only won 9 games in April. Then proceeded to finish last by end of the year. They told us games in April and May don't matter because it's too early. They are telling us the same thing this year. The great starting pitching we are getting is being wasted. The starters will level off at some point. We have guys being paid a lot of money to hit. If the Twins can ever get good hitting and pitching together at the same time, watch out. Our "defense"? That's another issue.
-
Great game by Ryan. He looks to be the real deal. Did anyone notice that our offense only scored 1 run? Actually that is 1 run in the past 18 innings. Still waiting for some our star hitters to start hitting.

Well one of Baldellis jobs is to motivate the team. For the past year + this team has played, listless, uninspiring, boring and bad baseball. Yes that is the managers fault. You are right. He can't hit for them. But he can I still a team atmosphere. It's obvious that letting the analytics computer manage the team isn't working. Remember the Twins finished last place in 2021 and played very bad ball. Also I don't know how you give Correa a break for his poor start. They are paying him $35 million this year. What's wrong with expecting him to produce at least somewhat how his career has gone? I'm so tired of Baldelli telling us how well his team has played and is following the plan. We all appreciate the start the starting pitching has had. But I think we are all realistic and realize they aren't good enough to sustain throughout a long season. At the moment this team is a mess. Buxton should have been put on the 10 day DL a week ago. Just wasted an opening for someone else to try. Your best hitter Arraez needs to be in there everyday. People counting on Buxton to get back and carry this team the rest of the year are going to be disappointed again. Twins should have swept KC.

Rocco, Usage, and the Twins Bullpen
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This boy has a chance to be one of the best??? Are you kidding? There's some decent pieces but mediocre at best. And with Baldelli not knowing who to send out in certain situations is further indication he doesn't have a clue.- 88 replies

Very nice win. Much needed. Before I get too excited Twins need to continue at KC. Twins need to win at least 2 of 3 or preferably sweep the Royals. While the Twins offense had a decent day, let's not forget they were facing an old pitcher that struggled hitting 80 on the speed gun. Not a real good test. However if they can start hitting regularly they may have a chance. If the bats go silent again against the Royals, it could be a long season. .

Should Byron Buxton Shift to Designated Hitter?
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Come on. He's Byron Buxton. He's going to get hurt that's who and what he is unfortunately. You just have to run him out to center field as often as possible. The DH argument is ludicrous and really not even worthy of an article on Twins Daily. -
Game Score: Red Sox 8, Twins, 1
Whitey333 replied to Theodore Tollefson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
But the twins are not winning and Sano is hitting around .080. so there! Twins hitting like .182 as a team. As a Twins fan what's discouraging is that they are playing very listless, uninspiring baseball. If any of you can listen to Rocco saying things like we are just trying to stay in games, more power to you! This is the major leagues. Winning is the most important team goal when you are here. If the manager is here only to pamper his players and try to stay close in the game it confirms my belief that Baldelli isn't concerned about winning. You can see it in the players. Today I expect Twins to win as they are facing Rich Hill. I then am expecting them to sweep Royals or at least take two of three before coming home to face the White Sox. We simply cannot fall to far behind the race like last year. Yes it's early, only 9 games in. But I believe those 9 games count. Didn't they? -
Game Recap: Twins 0, Boston 4
Whitey333 replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Twins lost 4-0. I thought I would mention that as some people talk as if they won. I am very glad individually for Larnach and Winder but at this level bottom line is win ing. Twins are 3-5. Not good.
