  1. I agree that putting Duran in for the 8th was a head scratcher, but with Rocco being so inept at managing a bullpen it doesn't really surprise me. So if they would have put Duffy in for the 8th, he may have blown the deal in the 8th rather than the 9th, right? But if that was the case Duran wouldn't have pitched the 9th and he would be available the next game. Now as it stands, if the Twins need a reliever tonight in the 9th, they turn to who? If the FO doesn't get another reliever or 2 (hopefully 2) between Rocco's inability to mange the pen and the lack of quality relievers we have, the Twins may lose their lead in the Division.

    Correa for Soto???

I've got to believe that Soto goes to NY or another big market team.
  3. I've been saying this for the last couple of months now. Make some trades so you don't lose good prospects for nothing in the rule 5 draft. There are plenty of trades out there to be had IMO, and with only a week to go, its time to get busy. Need at least 2 setup guys in the pen ASAP! Another starter would be nice,(hopefully a guy Rocco will let go deeper than 5 innings) and maybe a catcher. Thats 4 guys, of course not an easy task, but I believe its possible.
  4. Sano has a track record of being a very slow starter, who heats up with the weather. I for one hope he comes back with a bang, and makes some people "eat their words". Odds of that happening are slim, but I'll be pulling for him.
  5. They can add any catcher they want and it wont help that much unless they get some better pitching. 2 arms in the pen are a must, and another good starter would be more important than a catcher IMHO.
  6. If that is the case, maybe its time to change!
  7. How is it that so many of our pitching prospects have arm problems?
  8. I don't know of a good way to change the voting, but something should be done. These 2 men certainly deserved to be elected a long time ago. Kaat pitched for all thise years, won all those gold gloves, and was a total class act. Oliva won the batting titles, won a gold glove, and I'm old enough that I remember hearing that several opposing pitchers said he was one of the most feared hitters to face. Only injury could stop him. And what a great ambassador for the game of baseball!
  9. The only real surprise to me is Urshala. Watching him I would have thought he ranked higher.
  10. I for sure wouldn't trade him. From what I've read and heard he likes it here. I would start the negotiation for an extension. 10 years is probably too long but 6-8 years at 35mil a year may get it done. Keep Buck and Correa as a 1-2 punch to build around makes sense to me.
  11. I have doubts about trading Miranda and Martin for any pitcher that doesn't have a proven MLB track record.
  12. A trade for Thor seems like the kind of a deal this FO would make. He shouldn't cost much in prospects, but IMO they need to go after 2 bullpen setup guys 1st. Thor or any starter of his quality would be a distant 3rd.
  13. Unless the FO can pull off a few deadline trades for pitching,( at least 2 setup guys for the pen and hopefully a starter) I can see an end of season fade or even collapse.
  14. The top pitchers down on the farm sure seem to have a lot of injury problems, across all levels it seems. Is this a problem with our drafting, development, or training staff?
  15. If the Twins can land a frontline starter I'd put Ober in the pen for the rest of the year, if he can get healthy. There is also Larnach coming back. But what we really need is for Rocco to be a bit more flexible with his starters IMO. I know I've been told I'm told "old school" about it but there have been many times that I felt the starter may have been able to deeper into a game and he gets yanked due to the "spread sheet" of our manager. An extra few outs here or there would take that much of a load off an over worked (and IMO under talented) bullpen.
  16. I for 1 like the way you ranked in tiers. Don't stop putting your opinions out there. We all have our own way of thinking. Problem is these days that so many people just can't hear any opinions but their own.
  17. Seems like he already has learned alot that could help at the MLB level. See how he does adjusting to wooden bats.
  18. Twins look like they got lucky this year. All reports I've seen about this kid are vey promising. Hopefully in a few years He can live up to those expectations at the MLB level!
  19. would be a great add IMO. Of course the price would be hard to take. I feel the biggest need at this time is bullpen though. That's where I would be dealing 1st,
  20. Can one of you really smart guys make a list of who will be exposed to rule 5 draft as things stand now?
  21. Yes McBane was a nickname for him. It had something to do with McDonalds but I really don't remember the whole story.
  22. Anyone remember Eddie McBain?
  23. 1st priority has to be pitching, along with 2nd and 3rd priority's. Yes we could sure use an upgrade at catcher but pitching is a much bigger need.
  24. In other words, the way they did it back a few years ago, except the beat writers from each team also got a vote and each team must be represented. I agree with you, as that way is probably a better way to truly get a representation of true all stars. I do think its important to have at least 1 player from each team.
