  1. I'm all in on Robo umps, but not the challenge system. I can see the challenge system slowing the game down.
  2. With the new rules I could see Kepler stealing much more this year. Not sure how much the new shift rules will affect him, but should help raise his avg. some.
  3. I wonder if the Twins have tried to sign him. Might fill the bill for OF that hits lefties?
  4. Has Profar signed yet?
  5. I can see a platoon situation where they move Miranda to 1b against lefties and play Farmer at 3rd.
  6. good idea, would love to see it
  7. Now if they can get a better manager, they have a chance to be a good team.
  8. He has an exit physical at the end of last season. I would think they would have spotted a problem like a broken screw at that time. IMHO the more likely thing would be they see arthritis forming, which can be slowed by meds.
  9. Farmer hits lefties well, and does have some (not much) experience in the OF. I don't know how he did there, but that could be a plus.
  10. What you forgot in the article was what a classy person he was. Even fans in other cities loved the guy. Personally, the catch he made in an all star game against Barry Bonds will always stand out. I would vote for him
  11. I just want to see this end one way or another. I'd love to see the Twins sign him, but I think he would rather play in a larger market.
  12. Great article. More proof that an ultimatum be given, win or get fired, to the FO on down.
  13. The thing that I struggle with bringing in another mid range starter is blocking the path for the rookies to pitch. I would try to extend Mahle and see what Maeda has left. As far as Gray goes, I don't think he wants to stay here after hearing him complain about getting yanked early so much, and I don't blame him. IMO the Rocco factor could hurt us in getting any FA pitchers in the top tier.
  14. Correa OK, hard no to Bauer. Too much of a head case.
  15. I don't see him coming to the Twins. He really hasn't pitched well here and then there's the Rocco factor.
  16. Good to see someone else feels this way. I quit going to games because of this. I don't pay that much to watch backups. Team starters should play at home unless there's an injury or illness IMO.
  17. IMO Varland should be given a chance as the 5th starter and Ober moved to the pen as someone that can go 2 innings. He just doesn't seem capable of a starters workload so far.
  18. IMHO, the best thing that could happen in MLB is a salary cap. Even out the competition more, give the small to mid market teams a better chance. I'm sure the Union would object to any type of cap though really its only the top notch players that benefit under the current system. Add that in with your point about regional TV and I think you could create more interest.
  19. I still think the best move they could make would be to get a quality manager that can stand up to the FO pushing for complete reliance on a spread sheet. They are excellant tools to use, but sometimes in pro sports they aren't as good as a good managers gut feelings IMHO.
  20. just saying, ha was an infielder turned outfielder that ended up working out well. And Gordon is a higher rated draft choice than Cuddyer was.
  21. I fall on the side of let him play til he breaks. I'm old and have watched the Twins since they first moved here so as I've been reminded many times at this site, the game has changed. However, IMHO so many players today are babied way too much. OK, say he plays through April and gets hurt, put him on IL for however long it takes, rather than this play 2-3 then sit a game routine they came up with. A day off should be rare, unless he's at DH or sick etc. Gone are the iron man types today I know. But with the advanced in sports training and medicine, I would think these highly paid pro athletes should be able to play more.
  22. IMO Gordons playing time will be decided by how well he plays. Was last year a "career" year or the beginning of his turning into an above avg. hitter? Only time will tell.
