  1. Scherzer is ejected for the same reason that German was found guilty of, that is a substance found on his glove. Just as German stated that it was excess rosin, the umpires in the Mets-Dodgers game weren't buying it and Scherzer was ejected. However, in our game with the Yankees, since German is a Yankee, his penalty was to wash his hands and promise not to do it again.
  2. Having Larnach and Kepler in the lineup at the same time guarantees the opposing pitcher at least six strikeouts in the game. Buxton is totally lost. Julien needs more seasoning, Wallner is still a major league question mark. However, the pitching, both starters and pen have been incredible, Taylor and Solano have been surprisingly good, and our catching is solid. Agree that getting Polanco and Kiriloff back may jump start what has been up to this point, a hit and miss offense. Starting to have some concerns with Nick Gordon, although he puts the ball in play on nearly every at bat. Getting road trips to Yankee Stadium and Fenway out of the way early should help later on and getting Houston before they get rolling did not hurt either. White Sox miss Abreu, Cleveland's early schedule has benefitted them, and Detroit and Kansas City are still not there. This division is ours for the taking.
  3. After we got up 9-0, my thoughts were this is going to be a devasting loss.
  4. Not writing him off, he can hit, just cannot field.
  5. Thought it was a mistake then, think it still a mistake now. Miranda cannot play third base but at least we have Farmer to hold the spot until Lewis is ready.
  6. Miranda will play first/DH while Farmer plays third.
  7. Miranda was terrible at third last season. When he did catch the ball, you never knew where the throw was going. Honestly, he didn't even handle first very well. He is a right-handed DH.
  8. Now we move Farmer to third. Miranda at first or DH. It also gives additional time for Lewis to heal and Lee to develop.
  9. Give Miranda a chance until Lewis returns, then decide if either Lewis or Farmer shift there.
  10. Martinez signs for a million less. This is just crazy.
  11. Everyone needs to take a deep breath. Losing Correa is not the end of the world. Farmer is a decent shortstop, and we will know by the time Lewis is ready whether he helps or hurts. Honestly our pitching staff looks better on paper than most years and our bullpen will most likely be a lot better now that we have an established closer. Catching is now acceptable, outfield has many options, and infield has many interchangeable parts. My biggest concern is third, where Miranda has shown no ability to handle it defensively. If he is given the chance and proves unable to handle it, either Lewis or Farmer shift there when Lewis is back. I still say the trading of Urschela was our worst offseason move.
  12. This article is discussing improving the infield defense, you cannot even consider Miranda at third.
  13. What's with him? He plays well everywhere he goes but has trouble keeping a job.
  14. Would Chris Archer not make a great long reliever? Why not look at that option for him.
  15. You are correct. We should go with Jake Cave as our left-handed outfielder and Placidios as our back-up infielder. And we wonder why this team can't move forward.
  16. Liked seeing Gordon at third. He needs some reps there in spring training next season so as to allow him the ability to play three infield positions and all outfield positions.
