  1. It is fun watching Arraez hit. Why isn't he leading off ? then Polanco, Cruz etc etc I'll say it again. Trade Schoop and install Arraez as our 2b.
  2. so this means that if the Twins needed to bring up a spot starter for one game, Sean Poppin has looked better than Devin Smeltzer in June..... Interesting ....
  3. We get good news and bad news. The good news is that we have a whole group of new names to look forward to watching. The bad news is that most of the names that we're used to seeing have failed us and are gone.
  4. Although Berrios, Odo & Taylor Rogers have proven their value, a pitcher should never be considered as a most valuable player. That is why MLB has both a MVP & a Cy Young award.
  5. Reading these picks and looking at the stats, I think it is reasonable to take a spectators view of their results. We cheer the good games and jeer the bad ones, and at the end of the year we reevaluate their progress. However, it is unfair to the players to project too high an expectation of them. They may excel at one level and stumble at the next, and we get the pleasure of watching their progress. Wherever they rank, Luis Arraez, Austudillo, Zach Littel & Lewis Thorpe are the top rookies in our system because they are the ones that are currently playing for the Twins.
  6. The defensive stats are not what they seem. We see errors and the official scorekeepers call them hits. Since it happens everywhere, we trust that the stats will even out. Statistically (According to MLB.com) the Twins are ranked in the middle of the pack. That seems about right. However, we seem to be killed by throwing errors. I have no idea how to quantify this, except to keep a game by game log of fielding and throwing blunders regardless of how they are scored. If you focus on throwing errors, the solution is fairly simple. Examine the defenders priority's and change them so that players don't make the desperate throw's. Perhaps, given the player's competitive natures, this may be simpler said than done.
  7. Marney Gelner reported during tonights game that Buxton and Marwin both took swings and practiced on the field tonight (Friday).
  8. Since the 17 inning game, Littell had been dang near perfect. He'll be back.
  9. Arraez is a stud. Instead of waiting till 2020, trade Schoop for some talent and make Arraez the everyday 2b.
  10. Meyer & Trevor may came to the Twins in separate deals after the 2012 season. They have done essentially nothing for the Twins. Meanwhile Denard Span & Ben Revere had a number of successful seasons in the majors. The moral = never trade regulars for pitching. You will almost always get the worse end of the trade.
  11. About Diaz. Remember how we heard good things about Kepler but didn't see much of it until he reached AA, where he raked. Raking in AA is a good sign. Diaz is raking in AA. Maybe he'll follow Kepler into the Majors.
  12. Duffy looked good. Kohl Stewart was a surprise. Rogers looks like a real deal fireman/closer. We are not yet into July. There will be lots of interesting games to come.
  13. NOTE: Derek Molina RHP & Zach Neff LHP were jumped from Cedar Rapids (A) to the Wahoo's (AA). Big jump or typo ?
  14. We should have gotten Brad Hand when he was playing for SD. If we get him now, we pay thru the nose.
  15. The best part about a bad game, is I can turn it off and walk away. Reading about it doesn't make it better, but I do it anyway.
  16. I look at 2016 and I see how good the results are. I look at this 2019 and see how iffy we are now. Hurt players, under-performing players. I am glad we have the 2016 class in place.
  17. You must applaud a true fan, like your friend. You must be appalled at his choice of teams.
  18. Its June folks. No matter an individual pitcher looks, he can get better. Remember how many of us gave up on almost all our relievers when they first came up ? Remember how some looked good at first and then the league catches up to them ? Ugly as the relief pitching has been, there is hope that it will improve.
  19. The Turtle gives us fat folks someone to root for. and there a lot of fat folks in MN.
  20. And why would the Padres trade him ? and When ? They are close to front in the wildcard race and I doubt that will be much different by August. Besides that, we shouldn't give much for a year and a half rental (assuming he performs close to his current norms.) You can't expect much out of him after next year.
  21. What ? Huh ? Whats that now ? Hmmm ? What you say ? Why ? btw... I love your coherent writing style.
  22. Instead of wringing our hands and deploring the conditions in their home countries, perhaps we should support private efforts to improve their economies. Also, Prayer never hurts.
  23. Once upon a time the Twins won a couple WS too. good article.
  24. Always love to see the Minnesota boys play for the Twins.
