  1. They got a good half season out of Romo for a 1b who couldn’t hit major league pitching they got an injured Dyson for 3 lottery tickets that have done almost nothing at the major league level they got Fulmer for a pitcher that is undergoing TJ. He did have a good September call up pitching against 4 teams that were amongst the worst in baseball. Projected a ceiling f back of rotation starter They got Oekert for a utility player that can’t hit Pagan was good enough to get a 24 million dollar contract that leaves 1 bad trade
  2. Pretty much every team was close to 40% last year. 20 f the teams were over
  3. What has Miami done in the past? Except for when Ng made trades the team takes as many prospects as they can . That would about 4. Most would be off the AA roster, none would be in the top 10 of a prospect list. Think something like Rosario, Shoebel, Mathew’s and a low level prospect.
  4. So if Jhoan Duran was on another team and was made available in the middle of his first big league season you wouldn’t have traded for him .
  5. Oakland has been notoriously cheap. Trading 1st year players does not save money unless you expect them to break. The return. People here do not remember that Oakland makes head scratching deals. It would not cost someone with service time. More likely it would cost a couple arms and a couple legs. 2 pitchers and 2 hitters. Most likely a player from each level below AAA. That is why you should deal with Oakland the player does not have a long history of mediocrity at the major league level as Lopez did. That is a bad comp. The question should be is he a pitcher that other teams will figure out once there is enough data? Dunno.. will his arm blow out? Only if he is a Twin
  6. 2019 was Kepler’s outlier year. His batting suffered for years trying to recreate it. He is now doing what a lot of people thought he should be doing batting wise. Once again Morrison was right, you want the world and you want it now
  7. Since your post Rosario has an OPS of .475.
  8. Perhaps consider that the people who don’t care about that kind of stuff are the ones that cause other people to appreciate the great personalities
  9. I would hazard a guess that the management still does not have confidence in Sands’ ability.. That is the only explanation I can think of why they are sticking with Johnson and Oekert
  10. Did I say they were worn out and shot? Please tell me where I said that. What is BS is making up a position that another person took. Please do not respond if to anything I say if that is the **** you are going to pull
  11. Load management is the OP claim why these players are not playing every day, not mine. Your claim is that the successful teams don’t do load management. The lack of continued post season success by the three teams who, according to you, do not do load management was not refuted by you. Now if getting a division championship is your goal, you position would seem valid. Successful teams win division championships
  12. Many players do play every day. There is still nothing out there that says it has to be done that way. When your team has very little in the way of backups, your team has to have these players play everyday. When your team has players with holes in the game, you have to cover a bit.
  13. The Orioles and Yankees fizzle out in the playoffs. The Dodgers have only won a WD is a short series and currently have 12 pitchers on the DL. Atlanta won their WS with 2 players who did not play every game that year as ther series MVPs. With potentially 22 more games in the playoffs maybe there is something to the load management
  14. Runs scored would indicate that rally’s are being killed at the same rate. Try again. There is nothing so far that shows outcomes have been any different with less strikeouts.
  15. A couple percentage points less this year. Hits+BB+HPB-HR/Games says the Twins have less base runners per game by 0.01 per game
  16. On base percentage has not improved from last year so there are not more runners on base this year
  17. Popkin’s quoted philosophy somewhere on these pages was to have a philosophy for each player. There is a correlation with bat speed and launch angles to outcomes. Tweaking a swing to get the better outcome is on the coaches. As you point out, hitting has improved as the season has progressed for many of the players so maybe it is the coaching. Baseball is a game of adjustments
  18. The fans interest as measured by people paying to see the game is more tied to winning than K% The desired outcome is winning baseball. Managers and front offices are fired for a lack of winning. Just ask Paul Molitor
  19. Strikeouts are down. This year Also down this year are BB%, OBP, BABIP, and OPS. Rus scored per game 4.785 per game this year,4.8 last year . It would be hard to say there is an improvement in outcomes with less strikeouts.
  20. There are three ways to look at thumbs down One is to think of a thumbs down with no comment as a person who’s belief system just got destroyed but they have no logical reason for believing what they do. The second way to think about it is what you wrote is so bad and off base history has shown it is pointless to discuss something further, this reason, your satire or sarcasm went over the person’s head. So for you, given your posts over the years, and my supposition what a thumbs down would mean a thumbs down then is a compliment
  21. Liver and onions are a disgusting meal kids nowadays don’t want to work, they just want to play video games
  22. If as a society we shift or priorities to what was important there would have to be some agreement on what was important. If it is a shift towards a concern for others, good luck with that
  23. It should be easy to figure out with the minor league players what they do not do well at that time. Seth doesn’t mention it. The players are there to learn and get better. Just because they are not doing something well at some point doesn’t mean they can’t improve. It is pretty easy to figure out who is not improving. They do not get promoted in season or somebody mentions that a player was released.
