  1. Greenie will play where it interests him to play. If hew wants to play here for a year,, great.. In actual results for the league pitching an ERA of 4.16 and 171 innings is a respectable mid rotation pitcher.
  2. In the cold cruel world of data you are correct. There is still the question in the individual completion of baseball does he bring that something that makes a team much better
  3. If you go out one more year you realize what a fluke 2015 was for Forsythe. The TD habit of only looking at the statistic that would “prove a point is still alive.
  4. Forsythe playing nearly as well as Dozier is like saying JA Happ pitched nearly as well as Riich Hill.
  5. They are similar in that people were expecting a haul after Doziers’s 2016
  6. They were looking at trading him the year before. The Dodgers went with the guy the Twins traded for the year before. .
  7. Like the haul they were offered for 2 years of Brian Dozier, at a time when he was productive?
  8. The Mariners have prospect for the position, the Marlins still are not close. A 4 war position player is a good thing, but not a haul.
  9. Polanco’ s value to another team is how much better is he than what they have. A team is not going to give up a haul to marginally improve. The Giants might be the only contending team short a 2B. Why would a rebuilding team trade multiples of the building assets for a player? It is hard to deal when there isn’t a market
  10. Rookie is on the team One of more than 40 players. It is rather unfortunate that he is so old that there should be a hole with his name on it. Dug for the inevitable that is so close. Older still is Garlick who is trying to get himself established. Good thing baseball did not jettison Nelson Cruz or Brian Dozier because they were not a star. Where would the Dodgers be without Muncy and Taylor? In terms of age Rooker still can meet your definition of 22-23 as it shifts to recently 23. Rooker even matches your definition of stars If Atlanta had their injured players instead of who they have, they would have a different team with perhaps different outcomes and the Phillies would be playing or the Brewets
  11. Perhaps to find the positive you have to realize it was an article on a single player not anything really about the team. FWIW the 22 and 23 year old stars are all at home not playing now.
  12. The tone of what you wrote and the evidence presented would leave one to believe that a 95 mph fastball was essential. If it was not essential then why spend all that time creating the bait? To call someone out is not making anything a controversy. Correlation and causation is not a controversy I did not say to make it simpler, I asked you to be more complex in your approach.
  13. It goes to show that it is not one thing like 4 seam fastball that makes pitching good to great. Still many people write articles looking at the one thing.
  14. The Cy Young claim might be bogus as there is no data to back that up. One oops The White Sox had 4 starters listed who averaged 95. They started 69 games, averaged 5 innings per start. That is a lot of dependence on a bullpen.
  15. Tampa Bay has found a market insufficiency in assessing relievers. 10 of them with ERA 3 or under this year. Many are found off the scrap heap of free agency or traded for with a lottery ticket
  16. Tampa was the only team to have success with that model. Boston was mediocre but not in the bottom 1/3. Tampa was also the only team to succeed with a low payroll. It is an outlier mode; Levi commented on the low IP as a Baldelli managing style. That was not quite true. This year he had to manage with what he had without blowing out arms in the future as so many had not pitched in games
  17. 47 games pitched by prospects that did not pitch in a season the year before. Oakland used 5 starters for most of the season. Surprise!!!!!!! They lead the major league in starting pitcher IP.
  18. If Houston wanted Kiriloff and would give up Luis Garcia. It takes quality to get quality. If only the Twins still had a Brian Duensing to make the deal work
  19. To call Simmons even a bad signing is to ignore a lot. He wasn’t even the signing that worked out the worse this year. To forget about the likes of Nolasco, Correa, or Park is a good thing unless the topic is worse signings ever. The mistake they made was at the trade deadline when the Yankees were interested in him. The team must have wanted Gil back. Bringing Cruz back works if the clutter at the corners get moved.
  20. It is not easy to find a 3 fear corner outfielder 1B DH player. There were only 22 of them last year for 105 positions. Cron was 2.3 fear. There were 62 of them. That still leaves plenty of positions open. The value of any of the Twins prospects or players is what their ceiling is and can they get there.
  21. Other than the there are less home runs, how is Polamco’s 2019 season any less than 2021? There are no reasons to think his 2021 season is a fluke other than inmate pessimism
  22. Crown played in Denver last year. When checking numbers see what Cron hit for on the road. You won’t be crowing about the hitting, He only played a few games in Detroit
  23. Celestine is probably a better value based on what he did in AAA vs Larnach Ober at an ERA a little over 4 is better than a back end starter. The state of pitching is that bad. If he can pitch every 5th time through the rotation for a full season at that ERA or slightly better that is a very high value
  24. Pretty much any arb eligible or beyond player is trade bait. There are so many players that are corner outfielder/1b/DH that a couple should be traded.. This is likely as Kerrigan, Celestine or Contreras could fill in..
  25. When he struck out close to 33% of the batters he faced there might have a point for giving Duffey a closer role.
