    Very poor analogy with the football draft, After a certain point you are drafting lottery tickets. The more you have, the better the odds. This is trading for league average or worse starters. Two very completely different things. You would not go with quantity. They are who they are for players. They are not going to morph into an front line starter

    Albers isn’t available; anymore? Any of these pitchers wouldn’t cost more than a Placios kind of player so why not. Only Houston has an excess of pitching and the Twins moved on from Odorizzi for a reason. The other 2 teams would need good reasons to trade. A low level prospect isn’t going to work even if the teams were trying to tank.

    Almora has not had a decent season in the last 4. It is more optimistic that he could bounce back to a level near adequate much less the player that was in the top 20 prospect status than the optimism of Buxton playing so much you don’t need an insurance policy.

    Redmond was a great team player and understood the game. There is a translation problem. Redmond took a team of future batting stars and made them mediocre. Mattingly has not done any better. Redmond should not be the blueprint other than he has been gainfully employed as the bench coach for a mediocre Rockies team. Here is to hoping that Conger can make players better.

    I cab see that last year Martin played in CF or SS. There are people claiming that he is neither a SS or CF. Are both the Toronto and Twins organizations that clueless because there is the oft repeated postings. When was the last time thisTwins FO traded a top prospect.? Do people think that the FO is going to change how they have done business?

    There were 6 prospects from last year’s fangraphs top 100 that did not graduate to the major leagues. That would be a well above average number of prospects for a team. I guess that must be just natural fertilizer from the horse on the farm

    If John Henry were still running the team the Twins could have gotten all three for Lewis and Larnach had not the pitchers had already been traded to Detroit

    Mark Jr was signed by the Cubs. 30 something with a career MLB K% near 20. Perhaps the FO is more concerned with MLB than filling out the back end of the minor league team

    The problem this front office has is that it is still Ryan’s team. Kepler, Buxton, Kiriloff, Poloco, Arraez, Sano, and Garver are all Ryan additions. Miranda and Gordon are also Ryan’s.. In 4 years they have added Donaldson, Jeffer, Celestino, Rooker, and Lanarch with Martin as the next one up. The pitching addition to starting was Maeda and Odorizzi who is now long gone. They have added a lot of potential in Ober and Ryan but nothing else but potential. When you look at what Cleveland has done, their guys are up in a couple of years,not so with the Twins draftees. Years 5 and 6 are going to be pivotable for their careers as front office leaders. The Pohlad model might be tight with the money, but that really isn’t the problem here. A better outfielder really isn’t a concern.

    A club depends on a steady stream of new talent coming up. Despite a rocky 2021 that talent is Kiriloff, Larnach, Rooker and Celeatino. You could even add Contrera, Martin and late in the season Lewis to that mix. Utility players like Gordon and Arraez can be the 4th, Outfielders or 1B is well covered. A steady starter, an interim SS, shutdown relievers ate more pressing needs short term. The trade of am OF for a starter shifts the paradigm, but that is no certainty of happening.

    A trade would involve getting someone back of value. That would be a very good pitching prospect from a team needing a SS that gas pitching
