  1. Commented the other day that Balazovic had been better of late. Dah! See that DeAndrade has been hitting well the first month or so of the season. I recall that Miller was the top defensive shortstop in the organization. What about DeAndrade's D? Is it better than average? Or not?
  2. I guess a lot depends on what we think of as the Twins top prospect. Personally, I think about who has the potential to be the best of the best. Someone who just may end up being that ACE. So my two top Twins prospects are Canterino and Prielipp. Unfortunately, neither may ever be healthy enough to play for the Twins. But in the entire organization they are the two who to me could become that front of the rotation studs. Will admit, however, as Canterino gets older it is more likely his future may be as a member of a future bullpen. As for Woods Richardson, I am thrilled with how well he is doing in the slot most of us expected to be Varland. Let's cross our fingers that today is another good outing.
  3. Also noticed that Balazovic appears to have put together several very good outings in a row. Kid was awfully good a few years ago at Wichita. Does he still have it? Sure would be nice if he helped the pen later this summer? Also noticed Acuna now that the complex team is in action. Recall he was awesome as a 16-year old in the DSL two years ago, then not so good in Fort Myers last year. Its only a couple games, but lets hope some of that Acuna talent flowed into this young mans genes.
  4. Have been asking myself that question, Cody. Then I remind myself that considering how much time he missed the last X years, he really is playing in what hopefully will be his first full year. So in many ways, it is like his rookie season and he will need to deal with disappointment. LIke most rookies. With that said, cannot tell you how happy I am with what we are seeing from Larnach and Miranda. Yes, its still a small sample in 2024, but sure looks like that duo is set to settle into nice roles for the Twins. Hopefully, by 2025 we will see the same for AK and Julien. Now if we can only get Royce back on the field because he is a special talent who can be a difference for the Twins.
  5. Thanks for the report, Seth. Glad to hear you are keeping a positive attitude as you work through your difficulties. Good luck, my friend.
  6. Cedar Rapids is the only team with a winning record. I know not all of last year's team moved up to Wichita, but continue to wonder where all that winning went. What happened to Balazovic yesterday? Seems like he was the stud we have watched for all those years. Has he been better of late? Or was yesterday a flash in the pan? How long will the Twins continue to play Cavaco before admitting the obvius?
  7. Twins are still available on Directv streaming. I had it last summer, then dropped it when they lost NBC for a couple months last fall. Switched to Hulu, then back to Directv this spring so I would get the Twins. Have lost so much interest in the minors with Jenkins, Lee, Canterino and Prielipp out again. Two of that group could be a big help to the Twins this year and the last duo are the best pitching prospects in the organization, in my opinion. None of them on the field hurts!
  8. Thanks for the report, Seth. To be honest, I knew nothing or almost nothing about the entire lot. Your #1 guy looks interesting, very interesting. Thanks again!
  9. You missed a story from this spring's Strib, tony. Martin and his gal friend (don't remember if they are engaged) rented a unit in the new high rise behind the Target Field left field wall. So he doesn't have to drive at all to get Target Field. Recall when they were looking at the unit, the realtor commented that he would have a good view of Target Field. Remember Martin's response was that he expected to have a much better view, ie, the dugout.
  10. Personally, was surprised with how well Martin played. And yes, it makes sense to me to send him back down to continue working to improve after a nice long stay with the Twins. But count me among those that look forward to his return, permanently. Doubt anyone expected them to move on from Margot or Farmer, although Martin played better than both. So it was either Martin, Miranda or Larnach. With six outfielders, expected it to be either Larnach or Martin, and Larnach has been hitting almost as well as Miranda. No question the Twins offense is a heck of a lot better than a couple weeks ago when C4 went on the IL. Gonna get interesting next month when Royce returns, although there is likely to be another injury or two before he returns.
  11. Thanks for the report, Seth. Missed most of the game and appreciate the above interviews.
  12. No problem in my mind. Would have liked less prospects and a better, younger starting pitcher. Must take exception to how you worded the $30M payroll cut. Isn’t it more accurate that many circumstances were the cause, mainly the unknown tv contract. Isn’t it also possible, or even likely that last year’s payroll was over budget because of the Correa situation?
  13. Interesting conversation above, especially regarding Raya. What crossed my mind as I read this is that Raya was drafted four years ago. Considering how little we have seen of him, having been around for four years is a bit surprising.
  14. Thanks for the report, Seth. You know how much I appreciate following the kids down on the farm. I knew nothing, heck, less than nothing about Boushley. And to my surprise, he is a Badger. Actually a double Badger from Hortonville who pitched at UW-LaCrosse. Speaking of Hortonville, Seth, isn't that where that big time starter for the Mets (?) who later was with Detroit was from? What was his name, was it Zimmerman? Anyway, he sure looks like somebody who wouldn't hurt the Twins too badly should they need a couple fill-ins later this summer.
  15. Let's remember we traded what was it, two months of Berrios for SWR and Martin. Martin is showing us he is a solid player with a very good future. More important, he gives the Twins lineup a much different look. I pray that SWR takes the bull by the horn today and never looks back. Doesn't have to become a #1 or #2 starter, but a solid middle of the rotation starter would be AOK, at least for me.
  16. See this complaint as a bit early, Ted. Considering that several of the guys who would get more playing time if Jeffers was behind the plate versus DH are hitting as badly or worse than Vazquez, ie, Margot, Santana, Castro, Farmer and Wallner, before he was sent down. His defense is very good and have always heard he is a positive in the locker room. Also see that Vazquez has had a couple key hits in recent wins. That might suggest he is beginning to hit more like the past.
  17. What a fantastic prospect! Thanks for telling us more about him. This young man could spend three full years in the minors and break-in with the Twins while just 21 years old. And with his size, he could be an absolute horse on the mound for many years. Let's pray that he doesn't catch the Cantenaro/Prielipp disease.
  18. Read in the strib this morning that Canterino has begun throwing, ie, playing catch. So it will be awhile, but not the whole season. And in 100% agreement that the Twins bullpen can use this young man whenever he gets 100% healthy. And thanks, Steve. Love these reports you guys give us every day. Had to look up who in the heck Whorff was. Am I correct that he was a 5 year college guy, using his COVID year? Then wasn't drafted, played a year of independent ball before the Twins signing him last year. Considering his experience in the system, a bit surprised that he is all the way up to AA. Is he a legit prospect for the Twins?
  19. Any word on when Prielipp will return? Or is he out for the season? Canterino and Prielipp may be the two best pitching prospects the Twins have had in awhile, at least in my opinion. To get nothing years after picking them hurts, just plain hurts.
  20. Thanks for the report, Seth, although seeing not a single winning record in the organization is a downer. Looks like Keps will be returning to the Twins early next week. What is the other half of that move? Camargo back to St. Paul? Getting Keps back in right field should help their outfield D. Sure hope that doesn't mean that Martin is relagated to a permanent bench spot. That young man is an exciting player who needs to play, nearly every day. Martin should be playing a lot more than Margot. Tough day for Wallner, 0-6 with four K's. Curious, Seth, why you would know some unknown zip code from Georgia?
  21. Great report, Seth, thanks. When he was drafted was hoping he could develop into another Spencer Steer. Will agree with the above comment about reaching AAA this year. Regarding Ms. Miller, is my memory correct and she was a competitive surfer before she became a super model?
  22. Ted, the only playoff odds that matter are the odds come September 30. As for reducing the payroll. With Lewis, Correa and Kepler out injured the lineup is playing with one arm tied behind them. Add that nearly everyone playing, except Jeffers, AK and Martin, are hitting 100 points or lower than one would expect, having another $30M of payroll for one really good pitcher wouldn't make a heck of a lot difference. But it sure doesn't help that this year's additions, Santana and Margot, could and probably should be replaced...and soon. Didn't like those signings when they were made, don't like'em now.
  23. Regarding your comment, Cody, about the next time the Twins have a need in the rotation. Isn't the next time now? Really never was too excited about Martin. That is until I watched him play the last week or so. I like this kid, alot. Also think there is a good chance he can be a valuable member of this club as he is the only guy who almost always has a competitive at bat.
