  1. My biggest objection is his use of relief pitchers. Secondary is giving up outs by butting early in the game. I thought he would be given a new contract, but did not think he should be. Another issue is minimum contract would be for like 3 years, do not think the new FO wants to commit themselves to him for that long.
  2. One issue I see overlooked is that the Twins probably have different pitch counts for different levels of the system. Many of these pitchers are between 19 and 22. Twins are slowly ramping up the workload. Number of pitches starting an inning is a criteria for usage. Dougie seems to have ignored that. Other point seems to me that the decision was made that Dougie would never be on the major league staff either as a coach or a manager. End of discussion, no wonder he was let go. It could have been the Twins were trying to showcase his abilites before letting him go, the would explain the fall league issue brought up in the Star Tribune this morning.
  3. Steil was his boss and he made the call. It could be it was his call, it could be the decision was made over his head. Dougie does not have to know who made the call, as to pillar the person in the papers. His contract was not renewed, it is like any contract employee, in some companies you can stay for years, in some there are limits. I suspect that the early descision was that Dougie was not going to be a major league manager in the organization. Then it went to examples and Dougie's disrepect of management directions he was expected to follow. His popularity may have saved him to the end of the year, in some orgainizations he could have been let go in midseason. That would have been a bigger black mark to his baseball managing future.
  4. Agree with most of this, though I also might swap Kepler for Rosario. Rest of year should be fun, and seeing what comes of all this in the offseason will also be fun.
  5. I would expect the Twins would lose 1-3 relievers this off-season. Too many to protect and they are easy to stash on a major league club
  6. I believe that any player on the 40 man roster can be on the 25 man postseason roster. Maybe he has to be with the big club in September. I could also be wrong on this.
  7. Doubt Perkins will be on a postseason roster for the Twins. FO is holding auditions for the backend pieces.
  8. Nice win, Twins need more in KC. Knock them out of the race.
  9. At least in 2018 for those who do not make the Twins, all will be starting at the highest level in the organization and the best will be ready for a promotion if the major league starters fail.
  10. Riverbrian, Anyone who lives in Grand Forks should consider moving. North Dakota rivals are now in different levels. I believe one is division 1 and one is division 2. That would be why they do not play.
  11. If Sano was to leave and go to a bigger city at the end of 6 years, this would look like pinpricks compared to how those fans react and sportswriters write. Press here is Minnesota Nice compared to elsewhere, and Sano would have to get used to more hard core critisism elsewhere. I do not know how the west coast writers are, but Chicago, New York, Boston and the like writers are vicious.
  12. If this is a stress fracture, could well be the end of season, my guess is 3-4 weeks. Might have something to do with the weight he carries. Very bad break for the Twins. Stress fracture is what I saw reported.
  13. Why do we not knock Gibson off the wish list and down to Rochester. I have seen more than enough of him and do not need to see any more of him in the Twins uniform, ever.
  14. Might have Moya, Curtiss and Slegers all higher. They have all proformed well closer to the major leagues and not gotten the chance for playing much in Minnesota yet.
  15. Defense can be learned, I see no issues with Gordon being the SS for the intermediate future. Rest will play itself out. Most are 2-3 years away and Dozier will probably not be here at that time. We need to be a little patient and wait for this to play out..
  16. Be interesting to see how this plays out. Slegers should get another start, hope it wasn't smoke and mirrors. Time to see what the reenforcements bring.
  17. Siegers should get another start after today(Tuesday), but he can be sent back and called up later. Believe Gibson can still be optioned for this year so swap the two this weekend or send Gibson out now. Do not call him back up this year. Players will need rest, so Granite needs to be called up to spell the outfielders. Probably will need a DH bat, but pitching over the next few days is critical, so doubt a move will be made until Tuesday. Can probably rotate outfielders thru the DH spot until Tuesday. Sano can spell Mauer on Sunday with the extra infielder playing 3B.
  18. Favoritism is the first thing that comes to mind. Inability to make a tough decision where you older brother is concerned. I would not want that situation. I do not think it would be good for the clubhouse or the team. We shall see, but Jake is considered where I have seen the best of the Twins minor league managers and would rate the promotion once Joe moves on.
  19. Allen will probably be gone whether or not Molitor is retained. Pitching decisions and useage still remain a mystery to Molitor. That is why I feel he should not be retained. Also useage of players and lack of handling the youngsters are an issue here. Mauer will not be the manager until Joe leaves the team, 2019 at the earliest.
  20. To me Molitor's handling of the bullpen is suspect at best. He is better than some, but I feel a lot are better than him. He needs a veteran team to manage and this is not it. Time for him to go.
  21. Still feel if the price is right Mauer will be here in 2019. It will depend on next year.
  22. Garver may well end up the platoon partner for Castro. Twins at least seem to be moving to multi inning relievers, that would be a good start to get to a 12 man staff.
  23. Granite is a fine 4th outfielder. Do not prefer him over any of our outfield starters. I also am in the club that wants Garver up. It is unlikely he will be here before mid September unless Rochester misses the playoffs. Need another bench bat and player that can play multiple positions.
  24. Good Analysis. Young players will only get better. Are not many veterans here except for C, 1B and 2B. This teams hitting should only get better as next year arrives. Will be fun to watch.
  25. Problem for Polonco is time. Next year we will have a crowded middle infileld with Escobar, Adrianza, Dozier and Gordon. Something has to give people. Who do we trade, do we have to DFA a player due to lack of playing spots. Twins cannot carry 5 middle infielders, unless Dozier is traded this issue will be here next spring and Polanco is the worst SS defender of the group, So unless you package him up or trade Dozier one of the three shortstops will not be here next year. At the current time, that player could well be Polanco.
