  1. Hope he does well, Twins need pitchers with stuff
  2. Last two names on the list are interesting. I would have traded Parmalee this offseason because there are a lot of Twins prospects that could play first base and you are correct. Roberts could be here as early as 2014 if not Arcia in RF. If Plouffe makes it, Sano will be moved to first base or outfield also. Twins need to make trades to bring back pitching. Pitching wins, Giants do not have a great hitting club, their pitchers make them what they are.
  3. Twins could always move Rosario back to the outfield if Polanco can hit that well.
  4. Hopefully Harden is a go. Without him to start the season, the starting pitching could have a long year. Hendricks will probably have to open in the rotation, but this should be his last chance. If he cannot cut it, he should be gone.
  5. Do not think Buxton will start in Cedar Rapids. Expect outfield to be Walker in right, Kepler in center and Jimenez in Left. JD Williams will be the 4th outfielder/DH in Cedar Rapids until Buxton moves up in July. Then the best one of them will be sent to Fort Myers. Or they could move Jimenez to Fort Myers to start the season.

I would like the Twins to look at Braden on a minor league contract. Sanchez would be a huge upgrade if healthy, hope the Twins look at him. Also would like the Twins to sign Marcum, but probably wants a three year contract and the Twins do not want to give him that.
  7. Parmelee is a hugh risk. He may make it or not. We have others coming, but would rather have Morneau if he can still produce and wants to be here. Contract would have to be closer to 10 mil a year however.
  8. Might make sense to trade with Cinncinatti, as they would benefit from Detroit and Cleveland and we would pick up Minwaukee and St. Louis(which would be a better draw than Kansas City).
  9. Twins may look here for a cheap 1 year option with the Angels picking up most of the tab.
  10. Think he may be moved, more at the trade deadline, Arcia should be ready by then and Parmalee can move to first. Still wish they would extend him, but doubt they will.
  11. Still think the Twins will have to trade for a pitcher, does not look like they will sign one at these inflated prices.
  12. Hicks should make the team. Will he start here probably not, but that is the way the Twins work.
  13. Twins have some talent, just not pitching. Some pitchers will come here, it just may be a bit more expensive than before. Question is, do the Twins want to spend the money.
  14. That means our focus should be younger pitching. No pitcher should be signed who is over 30 and should be younger. If this means trades and getting younger, so be it. It would be hard to less competitive than last year. Stockpile arms, that is how you make good trades for very good players. Twins need to move their young arms forward, faster than slower. Get as many of these types as possible.
  15. None of these seem great, maybe the Twins will go a different direction. Expect a place to two to show up on the Twins roster when a person or 2 is non tendered (Butera for one)
  16. A few of these players could be removed from the 40 man(Butera for 1 and there may be others). TR might be protecting relief pitchers and middle infielders as there are many clubs looking for cheap alternatives.
  17. Need to see Santana in more of a hitters league. There is hope down there and maybe the need for a stopgap in the majors for the next two years. Focus on pitching.
  18. Nice thought, will not happen as it would take all or more than all of our FA money
  19. All good points, I had wondered why the Rays would trade Hellickson. Also missed was Wade Davis who has started in the past, but spent this last year in the Rays bullpen. Braves or Seattle are probably better targets for the Twins, but good article and this was interesting. Shields would be the best target, but Tampa probably wants too much, including one or two of the Twins better prospects. Trading prospects is not the way to go at this time.
  20. I think the TD staff does a wonderful and somewhat thankless job. Running out posters down with very negitive comments should be curtained, maybe first with private offline discussions and then if continued with public comments. For all that is said Thyrlos is far from the most negitive poster on this site. However deliberate running down of a specific poster or posters(especially if they are new, is a quick way to become and irrelivent site). All people(posters) make mistakes, give the newbies some rope and I think you did a great job of ending the pileon a Thyrosses error. This forum is for information and is supposed to be fun.
  21. This assumes the Twins do not add ptiching this offseason. Adding a couple of pitchers would get us to the area that is discussed above, middle 70's in wins. Adding 3 ptichers and a shortstop could get us to about .500. At that point luck could go either way. As long as we do not trade future(top of the line ) prospects, this seems to me to be a reasonable way to go.
  22. I am not good at numbers, but both of those numbers posted looked reasonalble to me. September happened because this was the first year in 3 Morneau had played a full season. I do not think his trade value is that high execpt for a sarlary dump trade, take from Baltimore supports that premise. I support trading Parmalee as an addition to an outfieder to optain pitching value in return. Most teams looking to trade pitching are small market and cost adverse.
  23. I feel that either he or Arcia should be here to start the year. If this means moving Span, Revere or Morneau so be it. Twins need to get some major league exposere for there players and this would be a way to do. The only reason not to would be if management has put extra money in to be competitive next year.
  24. I would also add Alex Burnett to a non tendered list as well as De Vries to the list. But try and resign both. Club needs a makeover and I would clear the room for some pickups and trades in the offseason. I do not think that either of the two above should be on the roster of a better than .500 club.
  25. I would like to see the Twins take a run at Iwakuma and Marcum. Then if they could sign Baker to a 3 mil with incentives and an option and Gibson can contribute they may have a start of a rotation. Marcum could be a one year plus option at around $10 mil. Iwakuma is interesting maybe like 3 years at $7 each (or would it take more, have no feelinigs on this one). That would probably leave Henrichs and one other internal option to start the year(Diamond being a given). TR needs to sign one starter in FA as trades are too dicey if he has to make them to show improvement).
