  1. Still need to spend money in the FA market and only Tampa Bay seems to have figured out the sign the cheapest best players out there (TR did a good job, look at where the Twins would have been without Willingham or Burton). Kansas City and possiibly Cleveland over the last few years are the examples you want to avoid. Odds are not in favor of the clubs trying to do this with farm talent alone. Also trade market has changed, most clubs will not give upper level pitching prospects for anything, instead looking for the weaker teams to do salary dumps of good players for a cheap price.
  2. Which type of pitcher? I do not see the Twins spending 15 -20 mil on a starting pitcher(not sure if any are worth it). 10 -12 mil a year are still gambles, but would be OK with that. Do not want to see recycled pitchers on the cheap(though Ben Sheets looks to be working out for Atlanta). Best guess would be Span to the Nats or Reds for some pitching prospects, or maybe to the Reds or Nats for a major league ready middle infieder and some pitching prospects, need to clear room for the next round of outfiilders.
  3. I would not include Morneau. Parmalee could be a bust, all of the rest are fine, though I expect Blackburn to be back because no one wants him. We need a missle infielder and 1 -2 starting pitchers, that could be doable in FA.
  4. I believe Manship will take over Swarzak's spot in the short term. Duensing will be the 5th starter and the Rochester Shuttle will continue. Bullpen has not been overworked with Cleveland to this point, so Gardy will have mix and match till Wednesday.
  5. Dreamer. We are at least one SP (front of rotation) away, and 1 more bat somewhere in the lineup.
