  1. I mentioned Skenes for the very reason that other than age, everything about the two is completely different. They both have MLB careers ahead of them but their respective paths are night and day different.
  2. He seems like a very driven young man. As his development continues, hopefully the defensive skill set is grown as much as his power at the plate. This next crop of A and AA OF ballers is going to be exciting to watch in the next 2-3 years! Could have 6-8 MLB debut with us or traded away. As long as we keep the cream of the crop.
  3. I haven’t researched when the best SP’s debut but just for reference, Paul Skenes is about 2 months older than Raya. Time will tell if Raya can keep pace with Skenes.
  4. He is just a kid. He was pitching in AA as a 20 yo! He will probably be in AAA before his 22nd bday in june. I done see anything conservative other than not wearing out his arm like Rice university is famous for. Its gonna be a minute longer for further development. Stay patient.
  5. That’s definitely a playoff trend.
  6. Agreed. Its just something that has bounced around in my thoughts about 1. Keeping his innings low. 2. Pushing him to compete against more advanced players. It’s something that seems like a role for a more seasoned guy but if this works for him and the team to throw the best bulldog out on the mound in October. More the better for us as fans to cheer for. It would be a great start to his career and if it works, it would be a legacy of his to build on.
  7. He is sonny gray size so I have no worries about his arm. I think the Twins have something special in mind for him because his arsenal is so good and he is so young. So far his handling has been unique in the org. They may be grooming him for a late season call up in ‘24 with a role to play in the playoffs. He doesn’t need to be stretched out in may/june if they want 3/4 lock down innings in a few October games.
  8. Thats true. Its going to be interesting to see how he responds in ‘24 since his surgery was in May ‘22. Whats the rear view mirror look like the further he gets past that TJ? As a fan, they should do what they need to do to keep him sharp for the playoffs!
  9. Some guys have the talent and the inner drive to succeed while even fewer have the drive to be the greatest. Some guys have all the talent in the world and don’t have that inner drive. It seems like our FO is getting better at finding the right guys but it’s a never ending job of over thinking. JB is going to get his shot somewhere if he focuses on whats right.
  10. It’s probably ok if they have 1 bad apple if he is a superstar. Not that they have one or want one. Was baldelli too nice to Gallo when he was failing? Will they be too nice to Gordon if he fails this year? At some point, leaders have to be real and sometimes that involves making nasty decisions.
  11. From what I have read, Paddack could have returned earlier last season but there wasn’t a need for him so he was ramped up and fresh for the playoffs. That proved to be a solid plan. looking forward, as long as his arm doesn’t fatigue, he will be allowed to pitch his 5 innings+. I don't think that anyone expects 180 innings out of him (30S x6 innings). It’s possible that if/when Festa/SWR /Canterino become viable MLBr’s that Paddack could be moved to a 2/3 inning piggy back role. Especially if the twins have a 15 game lead in mid august, I would expect mgmnt to get cute and try some different pitching combos. with Paddack at full strength and his development as a pitcher (not just a kid throwing smoke) its easy to predict 120 innings and save the gas tank for the playoffs. That might be the smart play as long as we get quality innings from other guys.
  12. Someone needs to troll KLaw about Jordan B not actually being a SP for the twins this year or next or the years after that. Paddack is going to be a beast.
  13. Even if polanco is an allstar the next two seasons, we have Julien and Lee, Topa, Santana and a lottery ticket in A ball. Im indifferent to DeSclafani and Gonzalez. We got more assets that can shine and develop while replacing Polo’s AB’s so it may be a mutual WIN/WIN type of trade. The Twins aren't going to lose because of this trade.
  14. I agree. It begs the question, who gets the most DH starts over the course of the season?
  15. At that point, the FO will probably start shopping guys for prospects or package some players together to get another ace SP. either way, the team will improve.
  16. Its sure looks like Festa could land a #2/3 SP spot in the next 6-14 months. A few guys right with him also. It’s an exciting time if you like to watch guys realize their childhood dream of being in the show.
  17. There is a young crop of allstars across MLB and Lewis is right in the middle of them. We shouldn’t even be worried about the previous injuries. Sit back and watch clutchness. Royce is the show.
  18. Are you missing a couple more possible arms? Sands, Henriquez ?
  19. At some point soon, Martin will be promoted and Gordon will be gone unless Gordon crushes ST. It’s certainly possible that Gordon blocks Martins path to the majors but whats the chances? Martin will be in the show… June at the latest.
  20. I still think Preillip has a shot at being elite., CSoto right with him. Raya might have a shot at being a #1 very soon.
  21. Walker is about 8” taller. Whats in the NC water?
  22. It would not surprise me to see a few MLB starts from him in ‘24 and be in the talk of a starting gig as #5/6 in ‘25. SWR/Canterino/Raya/Festa & a few more on the way soon. The pipeline is looking good!!
  23. Hopefully another Twin gives him a run at the title. Two guys in the Cy Young talks come September would be awesome!
  24. I doubt the Pohlads are embarrassed to be called cheap and that other owners decide to invest into their team.
