    Agreed, I do hope the Twins pivot to a move like this if the trade market isn't where they can find a move. They have to go for it in this window somehow. The payroll, for many reasons, doesn't matter as much. But not adding talent to go for it right now in some form or fashion is not acceptable.

    He is only 28, which is good. And really, if he hadn't had those terrible seasons before last year, he would be getting a LOT more money. I'm not saying I think the Twins can get him. But I can absolutely understand the reasoning for spending free agent money on him compared to someone like Snell (for example.) I LOVE Snell, but that walk rate is hard to ignore.

    They do have 38 players on the 40 man, and that's before potentially trading any of their veterans that have been rumored. There will be more additions, guaranteed. I just don't what kind of additions :)

    If they were to get Bellinger, I'd have to imagine the relationship with Boras was helped by a number of things, including the Correa deal and even keeping Gallo on the roster as long as they did. He is an obvious positional fit, and I do agree that spending payroll money on position players (while trading for pitching) makes sense. I'm not certain it will happen, but put me in the camp that this would be a fantastic move. Even if he doesn't do what he did last season again, he would still be a great addition to our lineup.

    My order of preference in terms of the deals would be... 1) Jeremy's deal 2) Jamie's deal 3) Theo's deal Luzardo and Meyer coming back would be electric. I'm not sure Seattle would trade Gilbert, and I'm not really too enamored with Theo's deal and how that would help in the 2024 season. Fun talker!

    I certainly hope not. :) I guess I would leave him in the role he is, but if this IS an option, he certainly has the arm talent to be good as a starter too right?

    I'm sorry, I can't put Severino above Woods Richardson. I just can't do it. I'd probably also, easily, have Danny De Andrade and Connor Prielipp (if his shoulder is healthy) and Pierson Ohl well above Severino too. And now that I think of it, possibly another 5 or 10 guys. Severino at 15 is probably 10 spots too high for him in my opinion.

    I read it as, Kirilloff’s pretty major surgery a few offseasons ago (the same one that Kirk Gibson had) COULD be an issue at some point again at any point in his career. That said, for right now today, I haven’t read anything to suggest it is an issue right now. If it is an issue right now, then getting a different full time 1b, or at least someone to platoon with Miranda, makes a world of sense. Maybe that’s Julien? Maybe that’s someone else. But IF Kirilloff is feeling ok, then he should perform, right?

    We will see if all of these guys are still on the roster in a month. But you are right, they will have a strong lineup.

    I’ll just add, I don’t want anything to do with Clevinger. I know he has Cleveland ties, but I don’t want his personality added to the twins clubhouse

    This makes me think, maybe the Twins will target someone who is closer to average in terms of extension to be able to build them up?

    Do you think Seattle would accept Royce for Gilbert? I’d imagine both fanbases would hate that move, which means it probably would be fair. I don’t see it happening, just curious. At least as the parameters of a deal, maybe not a 1 for 1

    I know Brock, you are great. Sorry for the snark. That said, I do watch mostly the Twins. That is why I probably undervalue our guys more than other team’s players, when comparing. Or at least that’s what I tend to do generally.

    Jamie, it was awesome. Thank you! Curious, is there a starter out there who doesn’t score well with this extension list/data that you like and/or think the Twins would target because they could improve that player’s extension?

    I don’t know if ace level is the need, now or at the deadline. They should have a really strong bullpen regardless, and I think the need would be someone you can comfortably trust to start a playoff game. I’d prefer it now, because you never know who may or may not be available at the deadline with teams possibly still in playoff races. The pitching staff should be really good with the goal of having Varland be your 6th starter (I think they use 6 guys even to start the year, especially to help watch Paddack’s innings if everyone else is healthy) and that’s a really good thing.
