    It depends, because the other factor which I don't remember seeing brought up is how well he disguises it. If the batter thinks a fastball is coming down the middle and it drops out of sight, it might not matter whether IT ever crosses the strike zone - the bat will. I am guessing there's a tell that comes early in his delivery, and he thinks he can live with it in order to get maximum break on the pitch. Maybe he could disguise the curve for longer, at some expense in the pitch's quality, and still be more effective. I am no pitching coach, however.

    I would not pick Olerud at 1:1, because if I get to know that he'll have the career he had, then I also get to know that Frank Thomas will have the career he had, and I want him more that year.

    I think that's an old veteran kind of move. The competitive fire will still dominate the decision for a young'un.

    Or, just have one of the Twins relievers throw you toward home plate and let an Astros hitter launch you there for free. We have the technology.

    I like that approximately half of the video was devoted to his home run trot. I don't know what a wrist-flip swing is, but am I wrong in thinking that the swing is pretty far on the long end of the spectrum?

    That's just one game. He often has four. One game this year he had six. All he does is win. Pitch To Contact, baby! / He's my Adopt-A-Prospect (everyone should adopt someone) so I'll stand up for my guy where possible. This admittedly wasn't the best instance to try.

    There's a general appreciation by the professionals for the relative value of prospects at every level, and how to compare them. There is no reason we fans can't attempt the same for our amusement.
