  1. I'm sending Mauer the same message I always got in Little League: "walk's good as a hit".
  2. We all know this rally just sets us up for a different flavor of heartbreak in the bottom of the 9th, but it's fun anyway.
  3. Grossman cursing fate for not taking second on Revere's arm, but with two out and Sano coming up I endorse the caution.
  4. This conundrum has baffled philosophers of every century, so here is a gif of a donkey in a swing.
  5. I guess the pressure of batting eighth is too much for Buxton as yet. Drop him back down.
  6. OK, that was a nice play against us in CF by Sugar Shane.
  7. People assume his defense must be stellar because, well, look at that bat.
  8. If he were Wile E. Coyote, it would have started as a sedan but ended up as two motorcycles.
  9. How would repeatedly stepping on some undeserving woman's feet make him a better pitcher?
  10. You were a bit pokey in responding.
  11. You must find Phil Hughes utterly fascinating.
  12. It depends, because the other factor which I don't remember seeing brought up is how well he disguises it. If the batter thinks a fastball is coming down the middle and it drops out of sight, it might not matter whether IT ever crosses the strike zone - the bat will. I am guessing there's a tell that comes early in his delivery, and he thinks he can live with it in order to get maximum break on the pitch. Maybe he could disguise the curve for longer, at some expense in the pitch's quality, and still be more effective. I am no pitching coach, however.
  13. If you're a GM with a good prospect at single-A, give FalVine a jingle and see what they say.
  14. I would not pick Olerud at 1:1, because if I get to know that he'll have the career he had, then I also get to know that Frank Thomas will have the career he had, and I want him more that year.
  15. I think that's an old veteran kind of move. The competitive fire will still dominate the decision for a young'un.
  16. Or, just have one of the Twins relievers throw you toward home plate and let an Astros hitter launch you there for free. We have the technology.
  17. I like that approximately half of the video was devoted to his home run trot. I don't know what a wrist-flip swing is, but am I wrong in thinking that the swing is pretty far on the long end of the spectrum?
  18. The Rucinzki one probably could have been triggered by the proverbial butterfly in a Brazilian rainforest.
  19. Ervin got the last strikeout by the staff today. Think that might have something to do with the debacle?
