  1. How would repeatedly stepping on some undeserving woman's feet make him a better pitcher?
  2. You were a bit pokey in responding.
  3. You must find Phil Hughes utterly fascinating.
  4. It depends, because the other factor which I don't remember seeing brought up is how well he disguises it. If the batter thinks a fastball is coming down the middle and it drops out of sight, it might not matter whether IT ever crosses the strike zone - the bat will. I am guessing there's a tell that comes early in his delivery, and he thinks he can live with it in order to get maximum break on the pitch. Maybe he could disguise the curve for longer, at some expense in the pitch's quality, and still be more effective. I am no pitching coach, however.
  5. If you're a GM with a good prospect at single-A, give FalVine a jingle and see what they say.
  6. I would not pick Olerud at 1:1, because if I get to know that he'll have the career he had, then I also get to know that Frank Thomas will have the career he had, and I want him more that year.
  7. I think that's an old veteran kind of move. The competitive fire will still dominate the decision for a young'un.
  8. Or, just have one of the Twins relievers throw you toward home plate and let an Astros hitter launch you there for free. We have the technology.
  9. I like that approximately half of the video was devoted to his home run trot. I don't know what a wrist-flip swing is, but am I wrong in thinking that the swing is pretty far on the long end of the spectrum?
  10. The Rucinzki one probably could have been triggered by the proverbial butterfly in a Brazilian rainforest.
  11. Ervin got the last strikeout by the staff today. Think that might have something to do with the debacle?
  12. They will call up Mike Quade from Rochester, but then not use him.
  13. Making it an even tougher play. (I had forgotten the majority of Robbie's few innings in the field this year have been in RF.)
  14. Grossman in left doesn't get within the same area code of that ball.
  15. A catch like that on the run at the wall is never a sure thing. Unless Adrianza took a bad route, Rosario would have faced the same challenge with a tough angle.
  16. I want "able". / h/t to Brian, generous comedian that he is, for the straight line
  17. The old rope-a-dope, suckering Peacock in for the killing blow of a ... passed ball.
  18. That's right, keep moving the goalposts...
  19. Chief sent a telegram stating that his wagon train broke down but they are back underway for their Memorial Day roadtrip.
  20. "Gentlemen, this will be a bullpen game. Peacock will start, and if it goes extra innings one of you other guys may need to warm up."
  21. Peacock had one, and you get credit for calling it.
