  1. Totally agree with TopGun. You should be our GM.
  2. I agree with the consensus, don't sign big name FAs. They're not worth it.
  3. FO signs Buxton, he remains healthy and becomes the MVP. This is most plausible if he get signed.
  4. I was going to state the same thing. Although we need good relievers , we need quality starters more. At this point like Wabene stated Duran could be flipped to reliever in Alcala's place until he develope his 3rd pitch.
  5. It was a real shame that AFL didn't function last year. It would have been a very interesting caliber of competition. Very unlike this year.

    Jorge Polanco and The Twins

Underrated players are the players that their stats don't relate to their potential for some reason or another. Many players get overlooked by management because of it and of no or negative media hype. Much like overrated players which get the good trades. FO said we are not in rebuilding. We are not set up for this mode.
  7. If we aren't really rebuilding, we trade those who we can live w/o and is worth something. We can live w/o Sano but we won't get anything for him. Kepler is hard to replace and is underrated. I'd prefer Garver to stay but if a team which would offer a good deal on a premier pitcher I'd be willing. If Rogers and Duffy can be replaced and could be added to a trade, I'd say yes. But the one that makes the most sense is Arraez. He is easily replaced defensively and for a one dimensional player he's overrated. I hope that the FO surprise me and inniate some needed tough trades, sign Buxton and avoid a devastating rebuilding.

Bad idea. We don't any one who comes close to take Polanco place at 2B. Arraez doesn't have the power, speed and the range to replace Polanco. Polanco is MVP caliber. He's just starting to come back and is still is underrated. You never trade anyone who's this underrated and so necessary for the growth of the club! If FO trade Polanco at this point or place him back at SS. I'll be totally convinced they have no idea what they're doing.
  9. Doesn't make sense to me. There are many others players which have less future value than Colina, that should have been let loose before him including Cave. I think they could sneak Colina through waivers. Didn't work again. Later after cutting the others loose after other teams fill their roster and we still need to make room then try to sneak him through if we can't trade enough players off the 40 man.
  10. Was excited to hear rumors that MIA is interested in a trade. Rowson knows that Garver is an established premier hitting and very good defensive catcher. Arraez has value that MIA might be interested in, together with Garver could manage a respectable pitching trade. I hope so. Twins could use more than 1 respectable starting pitching addition.
  11. I believe most of Baldelli's early success came from his coaching staff Sheldon (later Bell) bench coach; Johnson, pitching coach ; Rowson, hitting coach and catching coach (forgot his name). Their success at their jobs outweighed any Baldelli's short comings. 2021 only Johnson has remained. Baldelli's stubbornness of insisting that Cave is a capable CF has cost Twins tons of wins. Baldelli not getting Maggi in a game in a lost season, shows me that he doesn't have that sense of importance of building players confidence when needed. Broxton is another case of point. Broxton, a 5 tool potential CF that had a very good spring training. Instead of seeing Broxton potential & need of encouragement he sent him out to cool off & lost that opportunity. He chose an average 4th OF which had a terrible spring training (Cave) instead. That decision proved devastating, backtracking he threw non-CFs to learn on the fly or prematurely experiment w/ Celestino. Refusing Broxton is the main nail in the coffin of this season. 2nd nail is the failure to see the need of relying on long relief. Coming off a shortened season where some pitchers didn't even pitch. The emphasis should have been on long relief to relieve the load on starters (especially when our starters normally can't pitch over 5) & short relief. Dobnak & Thorpe had successful spring training which would have been beneficial. Baldelli instead went & put his trust solely on our weak starting rotation and failing bull pen (from spring training). He used Dobnak all wrong & tried to transform him on the fly. I give Baldelli a D grade. Also putting the blame on FO and present coaching staff. Hind sight I'd rather have promoted Sheldon and Rowson and let Baldelli go than let them go.
  12. Although the 2 cases are very different. The idea of Ortiz was not worth keeping and if they think Buxton isn't worth making Buxton a decent offer. Both decisions could most likely come back and bite them. That's the point.
  13. I grade them an F, because it does take much talent to sit back in the driver seat with the best pitcher (Berrios) and best offense producer(Cruz) with teams who want to compete in the post games. Signing Cruz is the best thing that I accredit them. They are terrible at initiating big trades we need and evaluating talent. Polhad is delusional
  14. My thoughts exactly. It wouldn't be too difficult to come up with a contract with incentives based on games and production. Buck wants to stay, lets get it done as soon as possible. While we're at it lets get a decent back up for a change so we aren't hurting soooo bad when he's not in the line up.
  15. MIA is loaded with quality starting pitching. I agree with the saying you can never have too much starting pitching but MIA seems not able to get it done with just that. Hopefully the Twins have what MIA needs to be able to wrangle one of those pitchers away from them. Mia also has some good pitching prospects coming up
  16. I'm with you Mark. There's plenty of reasons why the Twins did soooo bad this season and Simmons isn't one of them. If Polanco remained at SS like so many wanted, he'd continued his downward spiral and we'd have totally tanked along with Polanco, possibly w/o return. The problem w/ Simmon's bat is the importance the Twins put on HRs. When he hit those early HRs it went to his head and he over swung on everything. That plus the long pause he looked terrible. The focus needs to be is to stay inside yourself, who you are, not who you aren't. You can't look only at errors, you need to look at range. The old infield bled to death with grounders always fining their way through. Going back to the old infield is not an option.
  17. Polanco is not an option. The short time Simmons was out, Polanco was really hurting in all aspect of his game. He might have been hurting physically. We don't have anyone in the system that can step in and take control of this key position. If FO decide to do this, they'd lose all credibility in my book. Adrianza isn't any better than we have in house. My opinion is we need a glove at SS to keep Polanco at 2B where he can continue to rise. So a cheaper FA that fall through the cracks or find a SS via trade. CF replacement, continue to be a sore spot. Let's see if FO finally come through or still think Cave is our answer. SS and CF are crucial positions, we need viable depth there or all is lost.
  18. I think the Twins have an excellent future at catching. Garver is still and maybe has just adjusted to the unjuiced ball and covid weird season and Jeffer is still adjusting to the Bigs. Both are fine with high hopes for Rortvedt. Garver is getting older but still our best option at this point. I think Jeffers and Rortvedt need some more time so I'd still like Garver around.
  19. His trading value is still very low, although you could find a trading partner you'd get nothing in return. I'd rather keep him and find some one to help him with his swing. Sano is sooo strong if he shorten his swing he could hit more HRs and strike out less. The problem is, he takes too much pride in hitting those monster ones.
  20. We had many bad and disappointing seasons during the Twinkie years. We've resembled those years, not only the uniforms.
  21. Totally agree with you Mnfireman, defense is very important. And often overlooked in favor of HRs. Like MinninPa, I love to watch Simmons, Donaldson, Buxton, Kepler and Polanco work their magic on the field. The problem is there is a big drop to their replacements, I quince every time I see them play.
  22. Twins should've tried harder to win this game for Morneau. 1st have some one better than Gant pitching.
  23. it's hard to know what FO will do. For they tend to overrate players like Rooker's profile and horde them. If it were up to me, he would've been traded this year when his value was much higher. Hopefully this year DH will be adapted in the NL, then his value would be higher & could be used in a package deal to obtain overdue needed quality pitching. I'd be very disappointed again if Cave's services would be honored next year
  24. Polanco by far the most impressive the rest that are mentioned follow behind. Also like to watch Buxton when he's healthy.
