  1. Someone said that Jenkins has removed all Twins content from his IG. I don't know that it is true because I don't do IG. Something is amiss however because there has been zero news, rumors, or reports/comments. Seems odd. We shall see.
  2. Bednar or/and Hader is ok with me. No reason to lose anyone valuable though (Lee, Rodriguez, Festa, Raya).
  3. A win in 2 hours and 40 minutes after almost being done in 2 hours, 5 minutes. The Twins are getting the bat to the ball. Another nice win.
  4. Tough luck for Jax. Hitters sit on his sweeper too often and he has still been very effective overall.
  5. Castillo has really good stuff. Might need to shorten up the next time through the lineup.
  6. Is anyone else concerned at all that Walker Jenkins remains unsigned? Crickets from all sources.
  7. Sweet - two nice defensive plays in a row.
  8. One thing seems obvious - the Twins will play to win and any consideration of having a young(er) player work through a few things (slump/fielding) will not be a thing this year. Wallner needs to get hot and Julien needs to continue to hit and have good at bats or either/both will get sent down.
  9. I'm not sure either Wallner or Larnach ever amount to strong regulars, but both could be successful if given an extended opportunity. Wallner is a little awkward, yet he has speed and has shown some ability to adapt. Wallner has a higher ceiling than Larnach in my opinion. Gallo has worked hard and made some decent contributions to the Twins. He has also declined beyond the point of being a regular lineup presence and could easily be traded or cut. Kepler still has enough athleticism to provide some value until someone (Wallner?) shows that they are a better option. Larnach is on the outside looking up, a difficult situation for him. The trade value of all four left handed hitting corner outfielders is pretty limited. Unless Wallner goes on a strong hitting streak, he will almost surely wear a Saints jersey when Polanco returns. Gallo seems like the most fair drop when Lewis returns. Most of the time it seems like an unexpected injury changes the roster composition. Polanco should be back soon and Lewis is still a month away, so plenty of time for someone to get hot, decline further, or get injured or even traded. I'm not betting on anything.
  10. ERod takes some pretty outlandish hacks at times. He can really drive the ball a long way when he stays focused and smooth through the swing. The ball hops off of his bat. Emmanuel looks too eager at other times when he tries to crush 500 foot home runs and swings wildly. There is certainly a level of discipline needed with his swing. From the couple of dozen time I have watched Rodriguez bat (via milb.com) this year, I have seen considerable growth within the season as well as signs of future gains ahead. The floor for young Emmanuel may be very difficult to discern but the ceiling is undoubtedly high.
  11. I would say that the Twins were trending up. The at bats are slowly improving and the Twins have enough talent to go on a run. The schedule during the remainder of the season favors the local nine and several players are feeling better about their skills lately.
  12. The Walker Jenkins situation (whatever you want to call it) is a little befuddling. Every team clearly had time to know what number was necessary to sign the players. The flow of information and communication should have all made a signing just a matter of finding the most convenient date to meet in person. It would surely be odd to find out that negotiations were a part of any conversations post draft. The only scenario remaining is the dreaded "failed physical". But doesn't that follow an agreement in principle on a dollar amount which is then pending a clean physical exam? Confounding/confusing at this point.
  13. Great win for the Twins. Wallner sure messed up on his single to right field. With Kepler running and it looking like a close play from all angles, Wallner has to go to second base and force the cutoff man to make a decision. If the ball is cut, Wallner is out and the run scores. If the throw goes through, Wallner is at second base. These mistakes are crucial to games. Still a wonderful team victory.
  14. There are 63 games remaining and it is unlikely that Julien gets 400 at bats this year. Thus the players mentioned by FlyingFinn already have a firm lock on the race for ROY in the AL.
  15. Maybe the storms of ineptitude have passed over (regarding the Twins performance with bats). There are small signs.
  16. I'm curious what initiated this post of the idea of trading Joe Ryan. That said, the Twins should always be listening. What if San Diego offered Jackson Merrill, Ethan Salas, and Dylan Lesko? But we can see that Washington is struggling with the haul they received for Juan Soto. So it becomes a question of looking at whether the Twins are capable of winning or need a rebuild. A team with Carlos Correa, Pablo Lopez, Joe Ryan, Bailey Ober, and others doesn't look on paper like such a bad team. I would not likely accept the above mythical offer from San Diego. Ryan stays.
  17. The Twins do not have any player that stands out defensively. Max Kepler is the closest but he has had a few glitches this season. On the other hand, the Twins have been pretty consistent in making the basic plays and Carlos Correa is the gold standard for turning every routine ground ball into an out.
  18. The Cardinals GM was very specific about trading for pitching. This trade has a near zero probability for multiple reasons. St. Louis wants pitching (Ober or Ryan would draw their attention), PG has a no trade clause in his contract, the Twins are at their limit financially, and AK is a part of the Twins future as well as providing value in the present.
  19. Hope to see a continuation of improved at bats and more two strike contact approaches.
  20. Pablo Lopez was originally signed by Seattle and played in their system until being traded to Miami. He never pitched for the Mariners MLB team.
  21. Just an observation - Brooks Lee looks ready for AAA. Watching his at bats this season on numerous occasions this season (milb.com), Lee has turned from softer contact to driving the ball with authority on a consistent basis. I'm not seeing his games in person and thus not fully in tune with his progress, but Lee seems ready for AAA.
  22. Good win. Luis Castillo and Seattle are a formidable task. Let's hope the Twins are geared up for Kirby tomorrow and that Pablo Lopez brings his A game.
