  1. 1 WAR is worth 8-10 million so he justified his pay and nothing more at this point. He seems to have a little excess value if he finishes the season between 1.5-2.0 WAR. But nothing to exciting.
  2. 2024 Rotation: Lopez Ober Ryan Mead Paddack Varland Dobnak rehabbing Mahle whoever wants to be the 8th starter where does Keuchel fit in all of this?
  3. It’s cheaper to have a strong bench than it is to sign everyday players. We usually have a good bench because of this. Compare our bench to other teams and you will see we have a top 3 bench in the league if not the best. We would probably have a better pen if the Twins would sign some 3-6 million per season players like we do on our bench instead of only dumpster diving.
  4. Arreaz for Lopez has been an even trade. It would be nice if one of the prospects acquired in the deal makes this a great deal for us. Say Salas comes up and hits .300 with 60XBH and 15 steals a season for 6 seasons….
  5. 1B is one of the easiest positions to play. It’s where you put DHs when there is no opening at DH. Julien can play 1B and a better fielding Polanco can handle 2B. If it was spring training then by all means keep giving Julien reps and instruction at 2B. But we are in a playoff push and every advantage adds up. Polanco is a plus defender at 2B, while Julien needs work.
  6. No one has said this. They say he could be a passable starter. He clearly has downgraded stuff from his Cy Young days but he could be a serviceable 5th starter for a few starts and possibly a few more.
  7. For me, I would like to see the international class of 2009 (Kepler, Polanco and Sano) combine to reach over 500 HRs for the Twins. (Was hoping they could reach 1000 for the Twins….. but Sano…..). They currently have Kepler at 147, Polanco at 104 and Sano stuck at 161. For a total of 412. 500 is a nice goal and maybe they will reach it. But there is marketing in this as they climb higher…. also on Kepler, he had an .800 OPS till he got hurt last year and this year since he got healthy he has been mashing. If he is healthy at the end of the year, I say pick up his option and if you can extend him sure why not.
  8. The problem with Keuchel is he didn’t give up enough runs so I can say see he sucks. Instead I have to go through various stats to make the conclusion the a guy who gave up one run in 5 innings as a fillin starter should not get another one. Especially after he had 6 or so starts in AAA with the same or better results. And the fact that he would get at most 3-10 starts doesn’t matter because he should give up more runs because. So let’s just not bother and go find someone else I can complain about so we can chase that starter out too.
  9. This is the 5th spot in the Rotation. Dylan Bundy was fine for that. He had a 8-8 record. Made his starts and got through 5 innings consistently. That is the floor of a good 5th starter. As far as Keuchel is concerned. There is enough to be concerned about but he has earned another start or two. He had 6 good starts in AAA and 1 solid one here. I think we all would have been upset if he left without the opportunity. The results say he deserves another start. I don’t expect him to end up with anything less than a 4.00 era with a larger sample size of innings. And if he goes higher then that we can yank him out and put Varland back in. I would give him a minimum 3 or 4 starts.
  10. We can still get that right handed bat as Trey Mancini and Luke Voit can be had for prorated league minimum.
  11. In terms of extra base hits, I am. In terms of slugging percentage he is. But that is more a function of the low batting average.
  12. The silver lining is Brooks Lee was promoted to AAA recently. I’m hoping Correa can go on a somewhat of a hot streak and raise his average into the .240 range. At least his power numbers are still at normal levels. Also hoping his numbers increase back to norms next year. If plantar fasciitis is what is holding him back this year maybe he gets treatment over the offseason and is back to normal next season. That’s all I got.
  13. I agree except that I’m fine with him spending a few months in AA and AAA next season to get into a consistent rhythm. Also control is the last thing to come back after TJ surgery so let him get that worked out in the minors before coming up.
  14. We have one of the top pitching staffs in the AL. How is Rocco a bad manager of the pitching staff? That is one area he has actually excelled at. Now being a motivator is a good question.
  15. Well, We traded for Floro, just got back Theilbar and Polanco, Should get Lewis back soon. We have to do something with Keuchel or not. The big struggles for this season has been the failure of Gallo, and the let down of Correa and Buxton. with improvement from these three our offense is much better overall. if we could have traded for a middle reliever that would have been nice. also a RH bat. but that's it and complaining about not doing that is nit picking. but I get it. so be heard. but realize there is no needle moving trade that was going to happen today.
  16. Tony Pham is fine for the rest of the season acquisition. If we do get him, I hope it’s for a lower level prospect. Or Larnarch with a low level prospect for Raley and Pham is ok. The Twins can be a good playoff team if the offense picks it up for the playoffs. For that to happen we need Buxton and Correa to be back to normal. Correa seems to be close…. We also need continued contributions from Kepler, Solano, Killeroff, Julien, Polanco, Jeffers and Lewis when he is healthy and back in the lineup.
  17. This article is pretty accurate. I agree the Twins won’t trade their top prospects. This could be an interesting trade deadline or a big nothing burger. We will know soon one way or the other.
  18. while he would be a nice player to trade he has earned the opportunity to work in higher leverage situations. If he continues his success, I don’t see why he couldn’t be the third, fourth or fifth reliever behind a healthy group of Duran, Jax, Brock, and Thielbar in the playoffs. There is plenty of time for him to earn that kind of ranking.
  19. The Twins need a complementary RH bat for the line up and a reliever. They are getting callls on their LH OF bats and starting pitchers. It they trade from this depth its more likely for prospects to help add to our farm system. Maybe trade a LH bat for a reliever but unless you are trading Keuchel, you want a strong package of prospects as you are dealing from our playoff pitching staff.
  20. Bednar is a nice target but would cost a lot of prospect capital. We do have Larnarch to trade. I guess it would come down to what the Pirates need. Do they have a promising long term 2B? we have lots of 2B prospects to include too. A solid OF and a solid 2B prospect with a solid floor is a good start. I image the Pirates want some sort of pitching to plug too but not sure what I would include here.
  21. If he keeps this up do you think we resign him to a 2 year 8-10 million contract? Will someone else pay more? Does he deserve a third year guarantee in free age?
  22. I was thinking David Robert’s would be a great addition to our relievers. We would have an elite relief pitching with Duran,Jax, Robertson, Brock and Thielbar ….
