    If this gives Celestino an opening day 26 man spot. I'd almost rather keep Garlick and give Correa back to the Mets. I said... Almost ? Celestino was nowhere near MLB ready last year. He's 23 years old with options with potential development in front of him. Rostering him to replace Garlick on the short side of a platoon will kill his career. Rostering him to be a defensive specialist who doesn't play much will kill his career. If he has no current value and no future shelf life. He doesn't need to be on the 40 man at all. Rostering him just to roster him will waste any potential development with that roster spot. Start him in AAA and give him a chance to get better. Let him show that he is ready, that he deserves a call up when an injury occurs.

    Kyle can hit. We all saw it... He can hit. Unfortunately he was never allowed to hit against right handers. This has reduced his value to nearly nothing as a short side platoon guy. This roster can't afford to retain a short side platoon guy. The OF currently consists of: One Superstar (Buxton) who struggles to stay healthy. Two vets (Gallo and Kepler) that we HOPE rebound from two year slumps. One guy (Gordon) with a one decent year under his belt. Four young players (Kirilloff, Larnach, Wallner, Celestino) who haven't yet accomplished as much as Nick Gordon has at the MLB Level. We need Kirilloff, Larnach and Gordon to compete with Gallo and Kepler in case Gallo and Kepler turn into 3 year slumps. All of the outfield 26 man roster spots need to belong to players who are contenders for playing time to compete against each other to find a player who helps us win. Garlick will never be allowed to be a contender for playing time because he has been made a specialist and hardened in that role over the course of 4 years. It isn't his fault that he was turned into a specialist but he has been so therefore... very little value to us and others. He is the obvious choice.

    41 on the 40 when Correa gets added Pitchers 23 (SP 15 - RP 8) and 18 Position players This will need to be dealt with by either trade or DFA. From a 40 man balance standpoint. We are top heavy in starters.

    Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid keeps running through my mind as I follow the saga. It's a 12 year contract!!! The odds are that he will pick up an injury or two or seven along the way. It's a 12 year contract... that's what will kill ya. It's the fall that'll kill ya.

    Thank You. Much appreciated. Hard to say what the exact number is but on that 2nd link you provided. Just head counting the best I could, If you factor in the coaches and scouts throughout organization that don't appear to be listed. It looks like over 100 employees on the baseball operations side of things. I wonder what they all do? Does whatever they do go somewhere or does it just sit on a desk never to be reviewed? It is being suggested by some that they don't have a plan. If they don't have a plan, I'm really concerned about that. 100 employees that would be tripping over each other without a plan. Multiple people working on the same projects while other things get ignored. If they don't have a plan... they should come up with one quick.

    Does anyone know how many assistants, coaches, scouts, analysts are employed by the Twins? How many people work under Falvey on the baseball operation side? Does anyone know? If nobody knows exactly... I'll take a ball park estimate. I'd absolutely like to know. Hopefully someone can help me out.

    I hope Gilberto gets better year by year and day by day. I will not bet against him. However... He must start next season in AAA and play his way into a roster spot when his chance comes. It wasn't his fault but he was a long way from what we required of him last year.

    Wait a sec. Is it possible that the information that we read about is purposely released and possibly used as manipulation? If so... If we then take this information and then draw conclusions based upon it. Is it possible that we have been manipulated? If so... is it possible that Wheaties is only claiming to be the "Breakfast of Champions" because they want us to think that? Is it possible that All State wants us to believe that we are in Good Hands? Are we being manipulated? If any of this is true? I might have to think about what is making me angry and how my anger is just feeding the manipulation machine? Insert ? Smiley Face Here

    I don't see a need for Wacha. We should be at the point with enough decent young arms that we don't need a Bundy type to get through the season. Not saying Wacha is Bundy but he has the potential to be close enough that I'd rather let the young pitchers continue on their journey upward by filling the innings that Wacha would occupy.

    We need another bat. A decent one. I don't like the idea of skimming off the slim prospect pile to trade for one and I'd rather not tread water by trading an existing hitter to gain a different hitter and I'd like to keep the young starting pitching depth that we have. So out of the FA's available... I'll take Mancini. For 1B and DH with the occasional OF when necessary. Deepen that lineup.

    The Twins asked him to play SS for 4 years. The Twins made the playoffs in 3 of the 4 years that he played SS. This is not failure. That is a player that helped his team win at SS. I understand that they want him to play 2B now. Fine.. I understand that there may be better fielding SS's to choose from. Fine. However... he wasn't a failure.

    I've been and will here through the bad times and I have been and will be here for the good times. Being a Twins fan is no harder than it is to be a fan of the other 29 teams... our challenges are not unique.

    I don't have the expertise to disagree with your reasoning. I'm sad if it came across as if I was. I'm still saying I don't understand how anyone approves lower level due diligence on that contract. Especially when it is only the 2nd time the organization has crossed the 100 million line on a contract. How many millions or years do you need to out distance before the high level due diligence is necessary? I appreciate your content. I really do.
