    We go from a decent start for a young pitcher to blow up the team and fire Rocco. Does anyone suppose we could get one article where the comments don't go down this road?

    You mean relief pitchers are volatile? Really? I did not know that. The good bullpen numbers are weighted by mop-up guys coming in and pitching well. Take them out of the equation and this group has not been overly effective. Kind of a broken record right now...

    As much complaining as there is about the FO, Baldelli, and perceived lack of effort, there is a heck of a lot more that goes into attendance than just on-field performance. Marketing, ballpark experience, ticket and food costs to name a few. We all know how bad the PR is between fans and ownership. This is not new, it has been an issue for years. As was mentioned earlier, I do not understand how billionaires do not know that hiring a whiz marketing and financial analyst department can reap financial benefits that ripple out. This includes getting more butts in the seats. We saw the St. Paul Saints do it for years and years when they were an independent team.

    Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait.... I want to make sure I am understanding you correctly: You are saying that the main, possibly only thing stopping DaShawn Kiersey from being a 5.6+WAR player is Rocco Baldelli and his unwillingness to play him more? I understand the current hate for Rocco, but this? Really?

    Someone needs to bring Keirsey into this discussion. 3 PA in 11 games shows how much value he has to this team. Castro would see more OF.

    I am in that group. I generally enjoy watching the Twins whether they win or lose. I do not buy the concept that we as fans should be satisfied with the current payroll situation. This team financially underperforms it's market expectations. There have been articles aplenty about the media situations, the team's general lack of caring for the fans, and the strictly business aspect of running this team. unfortunately, in spite of all that garbage, I will still watch (and listen more when they finally fire Gladden from the radio. So bad.)

    Agreed. Most every MLB reliever is a failed starter for one reason or another. You don't see many high-end relievers converted to starters for a reason.

    Not sure about "madness". You want your best hitters at/near the top, your lesser hitters lower. Being consistent with the top four (who are the best hitters the Twins have available, current performance aside) is what you want. Jeffers and Castro should be the next two up, after that it really does not matter too much. Riding the hot bat (Bader) to a 5th/6th slot isn't necessarily a bad short-term decision either when 85% of your lineup is scuffling.

    Why is anyone arguing about SP going 5 innings? This has been a MLB-wide issue FOR YEARS. Should we as fans really be surprised the BP is a roller coaster? According to stats, the Twins should DFA Jax, Varland, and Alcala, while giving heavy innings to McCaughan, Coulombe, and Dobnak. Cole Sands should be the new closer with Topa as set-up. EDIT: McCaughan has been DFA'd for Blewitt. So we have that going for us...

    If you read through the comments on these articles, I would bet the comments call out Rocco/FO over the players at least 2:1. Many people are blaming the Rocco for the slow start without discussing how the players are failing in their given opportunities. If you believe any Coach is going to publicly throw players under the bus, you too do not understand what it is to manage or coach a team. That is why it is such big news when a manager publicly calls out a player. Good or bad, managers and coaches are under no obligation to publicize their reasoning. To do so would potentially give away their decision making process and give advantages to other teams. I have no problem with people forming opinions. Heck, I am doing it right now. But constantly blaming Rocco without all the information... I don't think I would call those informed opinions. Also, if I am not mistaken, this team has either met or exceeded preseason win expectations almost every year with Rocco. Considering the amount of injuries the Twins have had, there is something to be said about that. IMO, the larger issue you are referring to is ownership. Their unwillingness to push this team to the next level is having a trickle-down effect on the entire organization. You could argue the FO is a main issue here too, except we do not know how many things they are trying to do get shot down.

    There are always a couple of these throughout the season. It feels worse because of the overall poor play so far.

    You obviously misunderstand and have never coached before. X's and O's during game situations are a very miniscule part of a coaches job. At the professional level, coaches and managers help with game planning, but also sooth egos, balance morale, judge effort, deal with personnel issues and a thousand other things we as fans have absolutely no idea of. I am not a Rocco apologist, but I am also not naive enough to blame the manager and coaching staff for the slow start when the only information I have is what I see on television or read as a third-hand comment from an unknown clubhouse source.

    Let me get this straight: Batters choose when to swing and what they swing at Pitchers have to execute on the mound Rocco is to blame. Nobody here has enough information to really say if Rocco is the right fit for this team. We generally can't speak to the value of any coach and how they "good" they are. We see decisions that may be questionable, but we do not know the reasoning for most of the decisions. How about we start holding the players accountable instead of blaming everyone but the players?

    Kaat's broadcasting career deserved more than two sentences in an article like this. I mean 7 emmy awards! He was a natural for television; I was extremely disappointed that the Twins couldn't keep him in the booth

    I realize this comment will get smashed right now, but Rocco isn't responsible for the performances of Lopez, Wallner, Correa, Buxton, France. Starting Paddack was not really his call either (more FO). He didn't look good, but they needed innings from him today, so he was going to throw 80 pitches good or bad. The only thing I feel Rocco blew was keeping Ober in so long yesterday. He was sick, should never have gotten out of the 2nd inning. Pulling Correa/Buxton today was also wrong.

    Imagine that... A team has injuries to it's backup shortstop, it's 3rd string shortstop, it's probably 4th string shortstop, (not including Willie Castro here), and we are concerned about lack of depth. Getting smacked by injuries is going to impact institutional health. If the team is playing 3rd and 4th string guys due to injuries, I expect there to be problems and losses. Brooks Lee doesn't get injured, there is no article here. If something happens to Correa, I think finding a no-hit, defensive first SS would be pretty easy and cheap.
