    At this exact moment in time, there is truth to this article. However: 1) Chances of Lopez being traded in offseason - 80% 2) Chances of Ryan being traded in offseason - 85% 3) Chances of FA signing with contract value over $5m this offseason - 20% 4) Chances of salary savings being reinvested in team - negative 42% If the team sold tomorrow, and a new owner came in ready to spend this offseason, then the Twins would be more on a 1-2 year rebuild track than a 3-5 year rebuild track. If the team is not sold, Ryan and Lopez get moved, than this team is arguably the second worst team in baseball ahead of the Rockies heading into 2026.

    His decision is not loyalty to the Pohlads. It is prioritizing family and lifestyle over everything else. He wants to win like everyone else, but not at the expense of his family. He is not the first player to take this route, nor will he be the the last. Kent Hrbek turned down millions (this is 80's millions) from Detroit to stay in Minnesota. I don't understand the point of the article. Buxton has put his body through hell to stay on the field. When healthy, he has been pretty good to great. Are we supposed to be mad at him for staying? Are we supposed to be mad at him for not publicly tearing into ownership? Teams don't fail players, teams fail their fans. Teams have a responsibility to all of the people that watch their games, buy their merchandise, subsidize their stadium builds. That responsibility is to make an effort to win and make the product enjoyable. BTW - Yet another article blaming the FO for the fire sale. I am beginning to think the writers here do not understand how business hierarchy works.

    Yet another article unloading on the FO. Again: to not hold ownership to a much higher responsibility, both fiscal and decisioning, is not doing justice here. Everyone will eventially get their wish and Falvey will be gone. Barring a sale, whoever comes in next will have the same if not stricter controls on their decisions. Are we going to rail into them as well?

    How many more articles are we going to see putting all of the deadline weight on the FO when we know ownership pushed them into this process? Feels to me like all the articles are feeding into the "blame the FO" paranoia instead of taking a step back and looking at the situation as a whole. A little balancing might be in order.

    Sometimes a spade is a spade. The deadline moves weren't as much about returns as dumping contracts. Again, most of this blame falls on ownership. I qustion the Varland move, but don't have enough data to criticize it. The rest were pretty obvious. Every word out of Falvey's mouth right now is damage control. Stop looking for reasons.

    One of things I love about views like this is the complete disregard for the reality that only one team wins the WS every year and if it isn't the Twins, the organization is a complete failure. This sounds more like a Yankees fan than a Twins fan. There are multiple other posts here discussing how the Twins have been better with Falvey than without, I am not going to rehash that. Arguing about the results of the sell off right now is insane because it could take years to know the results. You can argue about who built the team, that was gutted, but keep in mind other teams found all of the Twins players useful and wanted, not even including the 5-6 coveted players left behind. Stop blaming Falvey for everything and take a look at ownership for once.

    That is a 100% Minnesota view. I can't imagine 95% of the baseball GMs doing this. Didn't we tear down Terry Ryan for being too trusting and loyal, not cutthroat enough to survive in today's game?

    I understand this comment will instigate a lot of hate, but what does Falvey need to say that will appease everyone? Everyone knows what happened here. Ownership dictated a fire sale. They don't care about the future of the team as they are looking to sell and make the most money possible. Falvey was put in this position, he may even be under orders not to talk about it. Falvey isn't perfect. No one is. Personally, I think he has done more positive than negative for the organization. Whether by his choice or others, I expect he will be gone in the near future. This is a business folks. We-as-fans feel entitled to transparancy and explanations, but that is a fallacy. We are entitled to nothing. This is a very sad time to be a Twins fan. Not because of Rocco or Falvey, but because ownership has systematically destroyed this franchise through a handul of terrible public decisions centered all around saving the last dollar. Its like watching the movie "Major League" happen in real time. For me, the ride is more important than the results. Because if ownerships complete disregard of the fanbase and future of the organization over the last 30 months, this team is 3-5 years away from being competitive again. This not on Falvey, but on ownership. Just try to keep your disagreements civil.

    Lots of fan emotions running rampant right now. This is not on Falvey, but on ownership. None of the major moves were made without ownership pushing hard. I am not going jump the gun on what the Twins did or did not get. Hard to know if there were better deals to be had. All I know is that this is arguably the worst day as a Twins fan since Bud announced the Twins would be contracted. Hard to see an owner destroy a team and fanbase. The only possible positive from today is that it was driven by a potential buyer wanting a clean slate.

    For everyone that has been screaming to blow up the team so the prospects can play, you are getting your wish. No reason to keep Lopez or Ryan for next year, expect to see them moved in the offseason. I hope you enjoy your 50-win Twins next year,

    Sorry Jamie, your positive take on Abel doesn't fit the narrative that the Twins got hosed in the Duran deal. Getting 2 guys that slot into the top 6 prospects won't work. Let the follow up bashing from the Miller trade commence.

    Regardless of what happens with Correa, a change in ownership will reset the expectations baseline. Until the team gets sold, every single decision made from trades and hires down to which type of soda is kept in the clubhouse will have a financial tinge to it. The ownership situation really needs to be resolved so a direction can be decided on.

    I agree with this, as Duran is going to become very expensive over the next few years. That doesn't mean the reasoning is bad. Personally, I am probably more down an Duran than most. It feels like before this year, he underperformed to his stuff. More Eddie Guardado saves than Joe Nathan saves. He has been great this year. With his velo trending downwards, sell high. Regarding the trade, I don't know. People are expecting the world for 40 IP annually. They got a possible rotation piece and a decent C prospect. Most prospect-for-player trades don't work out... so I expect to see an abundance of positive comments on the TD board.

    This is very true. People forget that deadline deals are as much about sending salary out the door as they are about getting prospects. If the Twins do not trade Castro or Bader, is anyone here going to comment on ownership willing to spend money on salary to keep the team watchable over the last two months?

    You didn't read my comment. I am not saying that money wasn't a factor in including Dobnak in the trade. I am saying that the money was not enough to substantially move the needle on the prospect return. All teams make cost saving moves, don't act like Twins ownership has a patent on this doing this.

    The Jim Bowden of TD strikes again... Sometimes you can accomplish both saving money and getting a quality prospect. Does anybody here think that Paddack would have gotten a top-ten prospect without the Dobnak inclusion? We complain about the Twins finances all the time, but all teams do this sort of move. Sometimes we need to look outside our little bubble of contempt at ownership and see what this truly looks like: a quality move for the Twins.
