  1. That's about as straight as it gets. The Twins are one of 30 teams—and firmly stuck in the middle of the pack. That’s MLB’s danger zone. One bad contract (Correa), two bad trades (Mahle, Pressly), or three ill-timed injuries (Lopez, Lewis, Kirilloff) can derail everything. For a mid-market team, the margin for error is razor thin, and the consequences last longer. Time may tell—but patterns already do. And as you said... deal with it—or go become a Dodgers fan.
  2. Wow... Nice notation on Steer. In the history of MLB. There have only been 650 3-HR games about twice as common as no-hitters, 323. What did the Twins get...41.1 pitched innings out of the trade?
  3. That's a fair take and I agree. But looking at the bigger picture... compare the Twins to the Tigers. Since 2017, the Tigers chose a clear path and stuck to it. It took time, but now they have a maturing core and are built to compete. The Twins, meanwhile, chose the middle path—not rebuilding, not fully contending. And now, eight years later, they’ve plateaued. A front office that once preached sustainability now looks risk-averse, indecisive, and out of ideas. What’s done is done—no point re-litigating it. The real question is: where does this franchise go from here? Everything pivots on who the new owners will be, and more importantly, why they want the team. Unfortunately, with each passing day, that transition feels further away—not closer.
  4. I'll give you that. But the trade tree is still alive for the Reds. Twins tree is dead. Twins took a shot and lost in 2022. At least they pulled the trigger. I just have little to no confidence in the current combination...owner, gm, manager.
  5. Whether it’s ownership tightening the leash or Falvey second-guessing every move, the result is the same: a FO that no longer operates like it’s trying to win. And maybe that’s the deeper issue—maybe this isn’t about bad luck or budget constraints. Maybe the hard truth is this is as good as it gets with the current trio. ( Owner- GM- Manager) Look at Detroit. It took 7 years for the Tigers to rebuild. Beginning in 2017 by trading Verlander. Their process was deliberate—build the farm, install new leadership, add targeted vets when the core matured. Bottom line: Twins are stagnant because they're not sure what to do until it becomes obvious. Are we there yet?
  6. In 2022 the Reds trade Mahle to the Twins and walked away with Spencer Steer and CES. In return the Twins got four starts in ‘22, two in ‘23, then a scare.
  7. The Betsy Helfand posting on X from 2022 make me cringe at what this front office might so as seller and not buyers.
  8. Exactly — the Pohlad family looking at the going rate for a top-tier manager was like: "Eight million? For decisions? We’ve got a guy who already knows how to over-manage the bullpen a faction of that!" This wasn't about strategy, leadership, or accountability — it was about keeping the payroll lower than the team batting average in April. Or, as I said in another post. It was like giving your dog a treat for peeing on the carpet.
  9. Two good examples that are hard to argue with. Mahle's era has never been lower...though he just hit the 15 day DL. Pagan is Cincys closer. Something he never was trusted with as a Twin.
  10. Just talking baseball — no shade intended. It's always interesting to see former Twins pop up, especially when they’re starting against us. Wasn’t trying to take a dig at the front office, just adding context. Happens every season in every fanbase.
  11. I'm sure they are. Henriquez wss a victim of these Twins FA pickups Harrison Bader (OF) – signed Feb 7 to a one‑year deal Danny Coulombe (LHP) – signed the same day to another one‑year contract So why is Henriquez doing so well in Miami but struggled in the Twins organization? That's just baseball, or he wasn't coached well? Cano is another example. Twins trade him in August of 2022. In 2023 he's an All-Star.
  12. Speaking of Wentz and winning trades. Still a small sample size, but Alcala has yet to surrender a run with Boston, including inherited runners. It wasn't working here in Minnesota, so hard to blame the Twins for trading him. But yes, his replacement is worse. Just for clarity. Alcala was traded for Andy Lugo....Wentz was claimed off waivers from Pittsburgh. Now, Alcalá obviously isn’t Big Papi, but the fear is real — a guy with elite stuff (upper 90s fastball, nasty slider) who never quite put it together in Minnesota, only to blossom somewhere else!?!? If that happens, you have to ask why?
  13. Gipson-Long was given up for 2 months of Fulmer in 2022. Good trade for Tigers.
  14. Here's the Royce Lewis sequence so far: Missed 35 Played 30 Missed 20 (hypothetical next 7 games) 🔜 Played 15 🔜 Missed 10 🔜 Played 5 Translation: Royce is trending toward a point where he plays zero games and misses zero games — also known as season shutdown, which will happen on game 115.... Game 115 lands on Monday, August 11, in the Bronx.
  15. I really don't get the Rocco extension...especially the timing... It's like giving your dog a treat after it peed on the carpet.
  16. I missed the game and enjoyed the recap even though the Twins keep inventing new ways to almost win.
  17. Only way I'd watch this team is if they brought back Bert .. BUT only the unchained edition. Let him really say what he wants this time. No filter. Just Bert, beer, and brutal honesty. example: “Well, that curveball was hung like a Christmas ornament, and guess what? Santa hit it 450 feet.”
  18. Wow...just check on the game. Same song different verse. Tanking While Insisting Nothing’s Stagnant "We believe in this group." -- Derek Falvey
  19. Glad I totally missed this blunder. On another note. Why does my minds eye see a porta-potty in this image.
  20. This game revealed another classic Falvey blunder: Falvey's strength was suppose to be his ability to spot good pitching. Traded Trevor Megill to Milwaukee for a "player to be named later"... and eventually got Taylor Floyd, a fringe reliever who’s now in Double-A for the Mariners after being poached in the minor league Rule 5 draft. Meanwhile, Megill’s throwing 99 in high-leverage spots for the Brewers. Add it to the growing list of giveaways that somehow always manage to make the other team better. Falvey's Trade Motto You win some, you lose most.
  21. Ryan wasn't drafted...TB selected him. Came to Twins in Cruz trade. Probably Falveys best trade. Twins got SWR and Martin for Berrios. (Twins did win that trade. ) typo Meant to say DIDN'T.
  22. Berrios...whom they traded...and Ober. That's it...TWO.
