    Who is Kreiler? [ edit] Okay.. Found him. Ryan Kreidler. Oh....The guy they claimed off the scrap heap from Detroit. I'm sure Kreidler will never see another game in MLB, while Lawyerson goes on to pitch for 7 more seasons. Another Falvey bomb shell.

    Been thinking about this for awhile. Interested in other thoughts people might have. I agree, Falvey did a lot of the digging for the hole the Twins are in, but the real problem isn't just about bad trades or front office decisions. I see the main problem as two fold. #1 How the Pohlad family run the team—like a conservative, low-risk investment, sometimes even used to offset pressures from other businesses. That kind of approach makes bold moves hard to come by. #2 Where they are located. Businesses leaving Minneapolis, the city is struggling, people feeling less connected. It’s not exactly an environment that makes it easy to build a championship team. Put it together, and the Twins’ “hole” starts to make sense—not just on the field, but in the bigger picture of ownership and place. "Winning solves everything " so they say. And winning would totally wipe away theses two problem, if not solve them. But the problem is, the hurdles to achieve a winning team are only getting higher, not lower.

    Now he can blame Derek!!!! Without firing himself. The Twins went from Derek and Rocco to Derek and Derek. Guess Falvey figured it’s easier to stay in sync if you just hire yourself. ( the string of fires is comical, began with firing the trainer in 2022).

    Unless the Twins re-define what "failure" is. NOT losing 100 games in 2026 = Success You'd think a clear thinking baseball man would ask in an interview... "What are your expectations for 2026?" Who knows what one Derek said to the other!!!

    "As the offseason unfolds, Minnesota will attempt to strike a balance between retooling and rebuilding." Where has that "balance " taken the Twins in the past. Isn't it time for a different strategy? Not that Falvey could even execute one or the other.

    The Twins were fortunate Correa wanted out, then like a dog....return to its own vomit...plus, stick themselves with a $33 Miillion vet bill.

    Totally agree...Target Field is beautiful, but building a dome-less stadium in Minnesota was very short sited. Even hockey players have the weather figured out. 4/6 last NHL Championship teams are from Florida. The other two are Vegas and Denver.

    I agree on Bader, but he’s the exception. But that’s precisely the point. The article is lamenting that the ‘Harrison Bader tier’ is now the ceiling for Twins free agency. That’s as good as it gets. Look at the pattern: Gallo, Margot, Shoemaker, Bundy, Archer, Happ, Simmons… the list goes on. Most of these signings have been complete failures or placeholders—warm bodies with little upside. They’re not impact players. They’re not needle-movers. They’re just a roster filler. And when that becomes your norm, it’s not bad luck—it’s a broken strategy.

    He’s solid with young players and fits a developmental phase, but his track record (306-440) doesn’t inspire much confidence. Why should we expect anything different than his last 6 years in Pittsburgh? It’s a cautious step forward, not a bold one. What else were Twins fans expecting with Falvey in charge?

    "Next Wave of Stars"? Twinkle, twinkle, little stars — the Twins keep saying here they are. Up above the league so bright… until August comes and dims their light.

    Totally agree...but the Twins act like a small market team, and the AZ appearance is far more rare than common, but it can happen.....still more rare than a Vikings playoff win.

    From 1885 to 1991. 6 of 7 AL champions during that stretch came from modest media markets—Kansas City (1), Oakland (3), and Minnesota (2)—proving that smart scouting, player development, and team chemistry could outshine payroll. But those days are long gone. Today’s postseason landscape is dominated by big-budget franchises with deep pockets and national reach, leaving small-market contenders scrambling to compete in a system that no longer favors parity.

    In 87 & 91, Twins only had to win 2 rounds. Today's teams have to win 3 rounds if not 4 for Wild Card teams. Just saying the competition today is stiffer for many reasons, making a Twins WS win even more unlikely.

    Twins owe Correa 11 million a year for NOT playing for them thru 2028. Think Joey Gallo x 3.

    How Low Will They Go? Who knows? But when the stadium lights start to flicker at Target Field, we know it’s just ownership dimming the bulbs to save on payroll.

    In MLB there are only two real divisions: 1. Rich vs. Poor (Small Market) 2. Smart vs. Not-So-Smart That creates only four possible outcomes — and here’s how they play out: Smart + Rich = Dodgers They build well, spend wisely, and reload every year. Rich + Not Smart = Mets They throw money at problems but never seem to solve them. Smart + Not Rich = Astros They outthink teams that outspend them. Not Smart + Not Rich = Twins Forever rebuilding, forever surprised when it doesn’t work.

    Just a fun comment regarding international baseball. Was at a game once that included several Latino fans....they were tossing flying tortillas in the air...like Frisbees...it was a fun and unique experience.

    It's just common sense, if the Twins have any they would do the same. The one-year deal for Suzuki lines up perfectly with the one year left on the GM’s contract. The Angels' decision to offer manager Kurt Suzuki a one-year contract, suggesting that both the manager and GM's tenures are being evaluated together.

    It's the off season here on TD...and the site is getting entertainingly morbid....almost as good as watching a Twins game... 😀
