  1. From 1885 to 1991. 6 of 7 AL champions during that stretch came from modest media markets—Kansas City (1), Oakland (3), and Minnesota (2)—proving that smart scouting, player development, and team chemistry could outshine payroll. But those days are long gone. Today’s postseason landscape is dominated by big-budget franchises with deep pockets and national reach, leaving small-market contenders scrambling to compete in a system that no longer favors parity.
  2. In 87 & 91, Twins only had to win 2 rounds. Today's teams have to win 3 rounds if not 4 for Wild Card teams. Just saying the competition today is stiffer for many reasons, making a Twins WS win even more unlikely.
  3. Twins owe Correa 11 million a year for NOT playing for them thru 2028. Think Joey Gallo x 3.
  4. How Low Will They Go? Who knows? But when the stadium lights start to flicker at Target Field, we know it’s just ownership dimming the bulbs to save on payroll.
  5. In MLB there are only two real divisions: 1. Rich vs. Poor (Small Market) 2. Smart vs. Not-So-Smart That creates only four possible outcomes — and here’s how they play out: Smart + Rich = Dodgers They build well, spend wisely, and reload every year. Rich + Not Smart = Mets They throw money at problems but never seem to solve them. Smart + Not Rich = Astros They outthink teams that outspend them. Not Smart + Not Rich = Twins Forever rebuilding, forever surprised when it doesn’t work.
  6. Just a fun comment regarding international baseball. Was at a game once that included several Latino fans....they were tossing flying tortillas in the air...like Frisbees...it was a fun and unique experience.
  7. You can edit your postings...look for ••• on upper right Tap it...then "edit"
  8. It's just common sense, if the Twins have any they would do the same. The one-year deal for Suzuki lines up perfectly with the one year left on the GM’s contract. The Angels' decision to offer manager Kurt Suzuki a one-year contract, suggesting that both the manager and GM's tenures are being evaluated together.
  9. It's the off season here on TD...and the site is getting entertainingly morbid....almost as good as watching a Twins game... 😀
  10. Falvey will hire his "yes-man". Might as get it over now..... No○°•○•°○•○°••°°••• !!!
  11. I actually had a dream about Falvey blowing the Ryan trade. It was terrifying.
  12. The Ryan situation smells exactly like what happened with Berrios. Jose just wanted out. He got his wish at the trade deadline in 2021...and the Twins were left with two prospects that 4 years later are still trying to stick in MLB. Neither one has yet to turn the corner. Can Falvey do better with trading Ryan? I highly doubt it.
  13. Woof already did the work for me. "In fact, of the 10 highest HR hitting teams in MLB history, only 1 (2019 Astros) even made the World Series, and none won a Series. It's about more than power. Just ask the Bomba Squad."
  14. Just curious how does your theory explain the 2019 Twins? You can swing for the fences, but sometimes the fences swing back?
  15. It would be more accurate to compare the current state of Twins baseball to what followed the 1991 -1992 seasons. The Twins were riding high in 91 and 92, but a sharp decline in 93 began a wave of 8 straight losing seasons. Kirby Puckett called it “Death Valley.” This is where the 2026 Twins already are… Death Valley 2.0. ( only 7 more losing seasons to go.)
  16. Glad I read the reviews first before reading the article.
  17. Salary dump complete? Yeah… minus the $33 million part.
  18. Ironic that Jorge Polanco’s streak of three consecutive game-winning hits in the postseason is rivaled only by Delmon Young’s 2012 run ( 4 games ) — both are ex-Twins.
  19. Doctor Gast... thanks for your excellent take above. I couldn’t agree more — it’s all about vision and proper evaluations, isn’t it? That’s the job of a GM. People here like to argue, Seattle didn’t pick up Polanco’s option. Any team could’ve signed him. Like that validates Falvey’s trade idea. Yet, where did he land? Vision and evaluation brought him right back to the place that knew his value all along — Seattle.
  20. If we are judging by quotes...isn't Justin M. the top candidate? "I love Minnesota, and I’d love to play my whole career here."–Justin Morneau Maybe TD is saving the Morneau as manager idea for a slow news day. 😀
  21. Actually sounds like the exact opposite of what the Twins do. They trade players NOT to play for them. Whose paying Carlos Correa over 10 million a years to play somewhere other than Minnesota?
  22. Hate? How you extract that is baffling. What people on this site hate is: ● wasted trades, ● wasted draft picks, ● wasted millions on the Gallos, Correas and Donaldsons on Falvey’s radar.
  23. Bottom line: Seattle’s thrilled to have Polanco in the fold — doesn’t matter how he got there. The Twins? Still hoping at least one prospect pans out. Production in the minors is just noise until it translates to the next level. What — maybe 10–15% of minor leaguers ever become everyday MLB players? Jury still out on this trade. Right now, it's heavily in favor of a Seattle win.
