Pohlads Preach Patience While Fans Question Commitment
Sjoski replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Your pattern suggests that for Popkins, Minnesota was a cage vs Toronto being a playground. In Toronto: More freedom, coachable players, and players who can execute his vision? Would love to hear Popkins speak on this, but that rarely happens. -
Pohlads Preach Patience While Fans Question Commitment

Totally agree here. It's nitpicking and minor, and I've mentioned i work in advertising....but...there’s actually a defined “DodgerBlue” color in HTML/CSS (#1E90FF), which shows how iconic that shade is. -
Pohlads Preach Patience While Fans Question Commitment

Hmmmm......Blue Jay's bats are shredding Yankees pitchers for the 2nd game in a row as I type. Hey Joe!!! Just an idea, I know it's over the top....but.... The Twins should hire away the Jay's hitting coach. -
Twins President Derek Falvey is In Over His Head
Sjoski replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I get that some folks think fan criticism is just whining, but let’s be real, this isn’t just venting for the sake of it. Fans buy the tickets, wear the gear, follow every move. When the front office doesn’t explain the plan or keeps repeating the same mistakes, what do you expect fans to do, just clap politely? If leadership won’t explain the plan, expect the fans on TD to reverse-engineer it.- 81 replies

🔥 Remember Dave Goltz… and the infamous grill incident! 🔥 Twins fans will never forget 1978—not just for Goltz’s stellar pitching, but for the day he literally burned the team’s chances… at least temporarily. While firing up the grill, Dave Goltz accidentally burned his pitching hand, forcing him to miss a few starts.

But it comes down to the FO making great trades and savvy FA signings. Both 87 and 91 teams were retooled this way to add to a strong core. By "we" your referring to the Pohlads and Falvey. Good luck....you'll need it.

Q: What does being the manager of the Minnesota Twins and the President of the United States have in common? A: The best candidates don’t even want the job.

Falvey’s moves have consistently weakened the team rather than strengthened it. The article is looking at the full body of his work. Far more misses than hits. The Dodgers aren’t just rich, they’re smart. Their baseball decisions consistently put them ahead, while the Twins often tinker without real results.

Diagnosis: “The system’s broken.” Translation: Blame the architect man. - 2027: Owner finally sells. Diagnosis: “Turns out we were the problem.” Translation: Blame the Pohlad clan.

Hmm...in today's world I would almost like to see TK managing remotely. TK in a rocking chair, iPad in hand, might actually bring more common sense to the dugout. At least you’d know he wouldn’t burn through six relievers before the 7th inning stretch. 😀

Julien is still young. The problem is pitchers figured him out with offspeed stuff, and he hasn’t adjusted. If he can get back to using his patience and on-base skills, he brings something Clemens doesn’t. However, he will have to prove himself by winning a job during spring training next season. It's highly probable he can't play himself back to the majors...another Miranda.

My favorite two teams are the Twins and whose ever playing the Yankees. But...will go with the Blue Jay's with Varland on the mound winning it all in game 7.- 28 replies

Exactly....this is what the Pohlads know and why they will never sell until this loop hole is closed. ● Because losing teams still collect shared revenue and enjoy rising franchise values, there’s little financial pressure to compete. Owners of small-market or “rebuilding” teams can effectively guarantee themselves profits even while fielding a non-competitive roster.

Derek Falvey’s Pitch for Hope in Twins Territory
Sjoski replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
"The foundation remains strong"??? If you compare the 1986 team that turned it around to win a World Series with the 2025 team!?? From the : A) Players: Puckett, Gaetti, Hrbek, Gagne, Viola, Blyleven, etc, etc vs Buxton, Lewis, Lee, Pablo, Ryan, etc B) Front Office: Andy MacPhail vs Falvey C) Manager: TK vs Rocco I see little to no potential for a 1987 like turn around for the Minnesota Twins in 2026.- 64 replies

Who would have loved to hear how the decision to finally run more came about. Maybe it went down like this: ●●● Falvey: “So, Rocco, we traded most of the bullpen away, a couple of decent bats. Any ideas on how we score runs now?” Baldelli: “Well… what if… hear me out… we run?” Falvey: “Run? Like… run fast? Around the bases?” Baldelli: “Yeah, like stealing bases. It’s this ancient baseball trick. I read about it in an old manual from the 1980s.” Falvey: “That sounds… risky. What if someone pulls a hamstring?” Baldelli: “What if someone scores a run?” Falvey: “…You might be on to something. Let’s try it. Worst case, people will say we waited seven years to discover legs.”
