    This is exactly what the Pohlad could be thinking. Clean the slate for the new owners. Q: But then why the extension to Rocco? A: Because it creates an illusion of stability, plus he's cheap. Biggest problem is Correa 30+ million per year contract....3 more years I believe.

    Were there not rumors of death threats against him and his family...some crazed gamblers? If the Twins want to model integrity, this is the move: Pull him. Shield him. Give him space. If it’s physical, treat it. If it’s mental, support it. If it’s mechanical, rebuild it.

    Skubal came close...striking out 8 of first 9 batters. --- The modern MLB record for most consecutive strikeouts to start a game is nine, achieved by Pablo López of the Miami Marlins on July 11, 2021, against the Atlanta Braves .

    A bittersweet read for sure. Just wondering, if you weren’t a starter in college… why would you be one in the majors? The Twins tried to convert Tyler Jay, and it backfired. For a team with little room for error, turning a top-10 pick into a project cost them more than the loss of an impact player — you have to toss in the $3.8M bonus that Jay was paid too.

    That's about as straight as it gets. The Twins are one of 30 teams—and firmly stuck in the middle of the pack. That’s MLB’s danger zone. One bad contract (Correa), two bad trades (Mahle, Pressly), or three ill-timed injuries (Lopez, Lewis, Kirilloff) can derail everything. For a mid-market team, the margin for error is razor thin, and the consequences last longer. Time may tell—but patterns already do. And as you said... deal with it—or go become a Dodgers fan.

    Wow... Nice notation on Steer. In the history of MLB. There have only been 650 3-HR games about twice as common as no-hitters, 323. What did the Twins get...41.1 pitched innings out of the trade?

    That's a fair take and I agree. But looking at the bigger picture... compare the Twins to the Tigers. Since 2017, the Tigers chose a clear path and stuck to it. It took time, but now they have a maturing core and are built to compete. The Twins, meanwhile, chose the middle path—not rebuilding, not fully contending. And now, eight years later, they’ve plateaued. A front office that once preached sustainability now looks risk-averse, indecisive, and out of ideas. What’s done is done—no point re-litigating it. The real question is: where does this franchise go from here? Everything pivots on who the new owners will be, and more importantly, why they want the team. Unfortunately, with each passing day, that transition feels further away—not closer.

    I'll give you that. But the trade tree is still alive for the Reds. Twins tree is dead. Twins took a shot and lost in 2022. At least they pulled the trigger. I just have little to no confidence in the current combination...owner, gm, manager.

    Whether it’s ownership tightening the leash or Falvey second-guessing every move, the result is the same: a FO that no longer operates like it’s trying to win. And maybe that’s the deeper issue—maybe this isn’t about bad luck or budget constraints. Maybe the hard truth is this is as good as it gets with the current trio. ( Owner- GM- Manager) Look at Detroit. It took 7 years for the Tigers to rebuild. Beginning in 2017 by trading Verlander. Their process was deliberate—build the farm, install new leadership, add targeted vets when the core matured. Bottom line: Twins are stagnant because they're not sure what to do until it becomes obvious. Are we there yet?

    In 2022 the Reds trade Mahle to the Twins and walked away with Spencer Steer and CES. In return the Twins got four starts in ‘22, two in ‘23, then a scare.

    Exactly — the Pohlad family looking at the going rate for a top-tier manager was like: "Eight million? For decisions? We’ve got a guy who already knows how to over-manage the bullpen a faction of that!" This wasn't about strategy, leadership, or accountability — it was about keeping the payroll lower than the team batting average in April. Or, as I said in another post. It was like giving your dog a treat for peeing on the carpet.

    Two good examples that are hard to argue with. Mahle's era has never been lower...though he just hit the 15 day DL. Pagan is Cincys closer. Something he never was trusted with as a Twin.
