  1. I wouldn't say Arraez is underrated. He's actually gotten worse every year of his MLB career so far. He's barely an above average hitter this year, and he's not exactly Omar Vizquel out there in the field. He's a great utility guy to have, and I love watching him play though. He should probably be hitting leadoff.
  2. His stuff is clearly good, and he's having fun out there. He arguably will end up being the most valuable Twins pitcher overall this year, somehow?!
  3. Rocco literally said the Twins are rebuilding this week, using that exact word. He also said the Twins "don't have the payroll of the Dodgers or Yankees" so can't just spend our way to contention year in and year out.
  4. Wow, negative 2.7 WAR for a reliever is really bad. Why in the world did he get 58 innings?! OPS against over 1,000 for the season is incredible.
  5. How many runners has Simba thrown out at home, third, first, etc just on relay plays? He's not a good hitter but appears to be a good team leader and well-liked. Twins don't have an heir apparent at shortstop (that would be Lewis, but he can't play) so whoever else you throw out there isn't a long term viable starter either. Pineda is also well-liked and the Twins would like him back next year. I sure would.
  6. Way too early to tell on Dobnak. He was great for a year, good for a year, looked unhittable in spring training, then the Twins messed him up, then he got hurt. I expect him to be a solid #4 in the rotation next year.
  7. 1. Randy Dobnak was pretty dang good as a rookie. Good enough to start game 2 of a playoff series. 2. I totally forgot Colome has an option year. Keep throwing him out there to see if it's worth exercising.
  8. Mike, would you take Gore for Berrios, straight up? I doubt the Padres do it but I'd take that deal in a second.
  9. Yep. I'd be willing to bet Donaldson ends up with more career WAR than Buxton.
  10. Buxton's presence will not be missed on a nightly basis because he's never played on a nightly basis. Speed first outfielders with a long history of injury issues don't suddenly become more healthy in their 30's. He's not going to be consistently on the field. Frankly I think the Twins offer to him was more than I would've offered. I'd do a shorter higher AAV deal though.
  11. I'd like to see the Twins pick Seth Halverson again. MN kid. Hits high 90's. Picked him out of high school, and he went to Missouri but with Mizzou's NCAA troubles he'll either go pro or transfer if he doesn't get drafted again.
  12. I strongly doubt the Twins extend either Berrios or Buxton. Berrios wants to see what he's worth in FA and if the Twins were going to extend him, that would've already happened. Buxton is expecting Betts/Lindor type money, and no way the Twins will pay that. I wouldn't touch extending him with a 20 foot pole with his injury history. Players with injury history in their 20's don't suddenly become healthy in their 30's. Aging is unavoidable, and since Buck relies so much on his speed as an asset, he will decline. I love Buck as much as anybody but you have to face the facts that he will not be a reliable CF. If he plays a corner spot he will be way overpaid especially when we have Larnach, Kiriloff, Wallner to fill those spots at a cheap price. Next 6: Arraez, Balazovic, Kiriloff, Larnach, Lewis, Duran.
  13. Totally agree. Hope that Buxton comes back healthy this year and trade him too.
  14. I also hear the message from South Dakotans, Iowans, etc. Been downtown a bunch in the last year, used to work in downtown every day. Never felt unsafe downtown, then or now. The only difference I've seen is a growth in the number of homeless people. Lots more tents in places where I haven't seen tents before.
  15. Can't build a team around a guy who never plays more than 100 games a season. Guys who can't stay healthy in their 20's don't suddenly become durable in their 30's. Buxton has only played over 100 games in a season once, in 2017. I love Buck, but I wouldn't extend him unless he's taking a discount for the health issues. I'm guessing he's expecting to be paid like Betts.
  16. First game I attended since spring training 2020. It was a thoroughly boring game with all the strikeouts by Twins hitters, and uninspiring play. Thorpe was effective enough to win the game and so was the bullpen. That loss is on the offense-the rangers pitching is awful.
  17. Twins could probably receive a good haul for Buxton....only one year of team control after this year and he's not signing an extension here.
  18. May has been decent but he's also getting paid 8 million dollars. He's far from a sure thing too. I would've put my money on Duffey being better this year. But the season is still young. Colome's stuff looks good still, he's just not locating anything, or tipping his pitches, or something.
  19. Puckett was also the third overall pick and was always a highly touted prospect who everyone knew would play in the show, at least because of his premium defense at a premium defensive position. Not so for Astudillo, who is almost 30, isn't even average defensively at any position and is almost exactly a league average hitter. OPS+ is 104. That's good for a utility guy, but don't compare him to a hall of famer.
  20. Ortiz has the PED tag as well, though for some reason people are going to overlook it and vite him into the HOF anyway. I would assume Cruz wouldn't get in because of the suspension, but 500 homers, a world series ring and postseason heroics would definitely help his case. Mcgwire has 583 home runs and never got close to getting in. He wasn't mentioned on the PED list in the article either.
  21. Definitely feel bad for Gibby. Not a good look for his first opening day start ever.
  22. Rooker was hurt then though, and Garlick wasn't on the team and OPS'ing 1.100. There are better options than AK at this moment.
  23. Spotrac says 117. 16th in MLB, below league average. CWS are at 123. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/minnesota-twins/payroll/
  24. I get that's your opinion but don't understand this sentiment. He's a two time all-star. How many teams, even playoff teams, have 2 or 3 guys ahead of him? Dodgers, Padres, Nationals and...Rays certainly don't. A's don't. Yankees don't. He makes any rotation in baseball better. If you use mlb wide sp statistics he's a backend #1 or high #2.
