  1. I agree 100%. The problem with free agents is that the team is reluctant to let them go when they don't work out. Good thing about our young players is they have options so we can move them up and down pretty much at will. If we move Kepler and Polanco I want to see Larnach get an extended stay replacing Kepler, but in left field and Wallner in right and Severino taking Polanco's place. He can pinch hit, and back up first and second. Martin as part of the outfield rotation. With Lee coming up later there is no need to sign any position player this year. Just focus on adding a starter and some relief help.
  2. if they didn't trade Garver they don't get Correa. Is that supposed to be justification for trading Garver? I'd rather have a Jeffery/Garver catching duo, Lewis or Lee at shortstop and 36 million in the kitty to use next year .. Damn that trade ...
  3. You are right. Taylor is the safest option without breaking the bat. His defense made our pitching staff look pretty good .. But if Lewis wasn't injury prone, he would be my first option by far.
  4. If Austin is as good a centerfielder as I've heard, then the Twins need to see how his bat plays in the majors. I love guys that have a high on-base percentage and can steal bases.
  5. I hear yah. I just need to get to the point that I accept the signing and embrace Carlos. The reason I was upset is that I too think we have tremendous young talent and that Correa was keeping Lewis or Lee from playing shortstop at about 33 million a year less or more but you are right, his salary now forces the Twins to play even more of our young talent. You're right, our young talent can carry the old man so it's all good .. I guess
  6. It's fun to dream but with Correas and Buxtons al.ost 50 mill in salary and losing a lot of TV revenue we probably left with our minor league system, which is not a bad thing by the way.
  7. Yes, I through the two 50 top minor leagues in with out giving it too much thought. No way someone gives us anywhere near that. But, that would probably be the cost of most other players earning 36 million a year or at least something far more that what we could get for Correa IF he agreed to a trade. I tried to like the origiinal trade from Houston. But as I watched him through out the year I just could see that much value in him for that type of money. Money that handicaps a mid market team. When Correa decided not to come back I was thrilled! Then I watched two deals fail and heard we were talking contract with Correa again. After resigning with us I decided to give orrea a chance to change my mind. Only this year his performance was worse than the previous year. Everyonegives him cudis for getting a few hits in the Playoffs in Houston. There, we knew he was a play off warrier. I suppose I will start out giving Correa the benefit of the doubt next year hoping he gets off to a good start but I actually cringed when he came to the plate with runners on. Not only dud he not knock them in he was a huge rally killer with all off the fmdouble plays he hit into. It woukd have been better if he had just struck out. But yes, I plead insanity for haphazordly throwing two top 50 minor leaguers in there. But to be honest, I'd trade him for just about anyone to get his 36 mill off our books and open up SS for Lewis or Lee. But that's just me. Thanks for putting up with my rants.
  8. And that's my point of consternation. We paid way to much for damaged goods that other teams were passing on. The fact we would have to throw in money to get him off our hands confirms he'd not worth what we are paying him and that has been my point all along. Especially when we had two very promising young short stops very close to the Bigs. It made no sense to me at the time and makes no sense to me now. Especially when we are cash strapped. It's too risky for mid market teams to try and play with the big boys by signing a top tier contract. You are betting the farm. We were very lucky to escape the Donaldson trade. And in essence what you are telling me us stop complaining about Correa because noone else wants him and we are married to him through thick and then. Sorry, that doesn't make me feel any better.
  9. Number 8 .. trading Correa recoups that money and note, ads a couple top 50 minor league prospects to our farm system while giving a path for Lewus and Lee to take over the left side of our infield. Correa is not a necessity he'd a luxury we can't afford.
  10. Part of me just wants him to retire .. Unless he can play the outfield Buxton is a. cLog in the wheel. I'd rather he play all out for as long as his knee holds up and then bring someone up to take his place whether it's 3 months or 3 weeks.
  11. Then Lee steps up. Question is, how much could you improve the team with an extra 36 .million to spend
  12. I thought about moving it up a year but very few players make it by 21 years old so I took the conservative route which is still pretty darn young.
  13. On a similar note, the Athletic listed with the top Twins based on upside potential. Lewis was first, Correa was 13th. Lee was third. Tell me again why we are spending 36 million a year when our budget is going to get tighter due to the TV revenue on Correa?
  14. I'm waiting for the 10 reasons he won't be back article now ..
  15. People think Dick Bremer resigned but my read is the decision was made for Dick and he showed his unseal class .. But the more I think about it I'm very disappointed. I see no reason to move Dick out of the box. The Twins need to be very, very careful who they pick to replace Dick or this could really backfire. The MOVE was a monster move and from this article it sounds like the Twins are already gating blowback. I would gladly sign a bring Dick back petition ..
  16. I think his high OBP, power and speed overshadow his strikeouts. An out us an out however you look at it. With a strikeout at least you don't hit into double plays which are inning killers.
  17. I think it depends on whether the Twins want him to stay in the minors this year building up his arm strength. Even if they do he will. E on a pitch count. Maybe let him start and then when he's closing in on his max pitch count let him finish up in the pen. As much h as I really want to see him in the majors I can wait another year of development as he really hasn't had much development to date due to injuries..
  18. Since I'm in the camp of bringing up our young, inexpensive players in our pipeline I don't fear the loss in TV revenue 🙃
  19. Wouldn't it be cool if Bremer's son took over for him although I've never heard him broadcast in the minors ..
  20. I'm fine with it but kind of surprised Jenkins moved ahead of Lee.
  21. I 100% agree! I love our pipeline and it doesn't cause us to trade or pay high salaries. Put the money into quality pitching. We won't have trouble scoring runs with what we have and the young guys are only going to get better .
  22. Does anyone know which of his pitches were getting hit out of the park. Was it concentrated to one pitch? Is it me, or did Ryan's problems start after he through that 9 inning gem? He was unhittable that day ..
  23. I'm contemplating this statement Byron Buxton’s future in center field seems like a long shot, so Martin might be able to play a role at an essential up-the-middle defensive position. And it begs the question, if not center field, where? I have brought up splitting between first base when facing left handed pitching and DH but have been knocked for the first base idea. I guess they could try a corner outfield position hoping it's less strain on his knee. What about knee replacement sugary :)
