LaBombo Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Unwritten rule is one thing... He was barking at Maholm all the way around the bases. He never did touch home plate because McCann got in his face and the fireworks started. The way Gomez was carrying on... A pacifist would have beat him silly. Made me tear hair out sometimes when he was a Twin, but now I kinda miss the li'l crazy man... could just pinch his cheek while he seeks out a target for his homicidal rage. http://sports.cbsimg.net/images//visual/whatshot/Carlos-Gomez-Brewers-Braves-crazy-eyes.gif

Supreme Skills... 100% player. I hated that trade when it happened.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 What did Maholm do to get him going and when will the Brewers be in town next year? Beaned him in the knee with a 70 MPH something.
big dog Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Beaned him in the knee with a 70 MPH something. Yeah, two months ago. GoGo doesn't forget!
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Not to mention, Chris Sale had to pitch against the Tigers. 5 Times! Not to mention, Chris Sale had to pitch for the White Sox. 29 Times.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Yeah, two months ago. GoGo doesn't forget! And why should he? I got beaned in a little league game once the one year I played. Someday I'm going to run into him again, then...
Alex Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Not to mention, Chris Sale had to pitch for the White Sox. 29 Times. Sale is 35th in run support with just over three while Max Scherzer is third like over a billion p/game (okay 5.5). Also, I like how Gardy used strategy to speed up that last inning so everyone can get home a little earlier.

Someday I'm going to run into him again, then... Personally, I think it would be fair if the next pitcher to K Gomez (or players that take an especially long trot or taunt the pitcher) did a Jose Valverde "I just got a save" impression, perhaps including a full team celebration.

Absolutely. Or a Dennis Eckersley wild-eyed fist pump. Let's see how he handles that. and the bullpen can have a kick line

Baling out on Hardy afterward didn't help the deal either. Whether it was a different approach by the Milwaukee coaching staff or just that Gomez is one of those guys who takes a while longer to get there, he scarcely resembles the hitter he was with the Twins.

Someday I'm going to run into him again, then... I remember this guy getting unusually angry when he asked me to toss him a beer... So I did... But he turned to say something to someone else and the beer hit him in the face and knocked him to the ground and he landed on a rake. The beer also hit the ground... punctured... And went into full spray directly into his face as he lay on the ground. He probably would have been less angry if I (and everyone else wasn't laughing so hard... I mean laughing so hard that you can even get the words... "Oops" or "I'm sorry" out without your voice going up 3 octaves while tears are running down your face).

Yeah, and he wears a uni top that is quite a bit larger in the shoulders. He's a much stronger guy than when he was with the Twins. I remember when I talked to my mom- she was sad to hear we had traded Gomez, and asked if we got anything for him. I described Hardy pretty positively. She thought for a few seconds and then said "Did the Brewers ever watch Gomez?" I laughed pretty hard.

He was rushed way too soon... GoGo was 16 years old when he debuted with the Twins.

Gomez put up below-average offensive numbers for the first two seasons after the Twins parted ways with him. If he was dynamite set to go off, he had a long fuse.
big dog Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 If he was dynamite set to go off, he had a long fuse. I think he pretty capably demonstrated tonight that a long fuse is no longer an issue.

ashbury Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Carlos Gomez had a fun evening tonight, didn't he? Much kerfuffle over nothing, says I.

That's exactly why when I throw a beer at someone I do it before they ask me - and I have a retreat route mapped out so they don't know it's me.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 OK, let's see if this works: Hey, he's throwing a no-hitter! Kinda worked. Now we're only down 1-0.
