Actually, that isn't correct. Bad organizations hire people to tell the bosses what they want to hear. Good organizations hire people to tell them what they don't know. You're confusing being courteous with being subservient.

Falvey did do some good things, but a lot of them were low-hanging fruit, because the Terry Ryan era Twins were one of the most backwards teams in baseball, using strategies from the 1990s and no technology to compete with teams using strategies and technology from the 2010s.

You give your vision when you interview, they decide if that is the direction they want to go.  As I earlier stated they liked his background in analytics, so naturally he was going to be a top candidate.

Ah, the Twins strategy: it's your job until you get injured, instead of it's your job until someone else can do it better.

Buxton  effect,  sucks  but what ya gonna do

Yeah, right, Falvey's background in analytics was wayyy better than Bloom's.

Pohlads interviewed for personal fit.

Neither of us was in the room, so we don't know the particulars or what led to the decision to choose Falvey.

If being in the room and having first-hand knowledge is going to be the standard for commenting, then Twinsdaily.com should shut down.

You should also stop saying things like "they liked his background in analytics," because you weren't in the room. 100% of the candidates for GM in 2016 had a background in analytics.

Well the reporting at the time said that was one of the reasons he was chosen.

Lewis is wearing Mardi Gras beads around his neck? What a clown

You noticed.  Which is what he wanted. He's very conscious of his image.

I am guessing that it probably sucks to have the last name Siri……….

If we could *add a voice note here* I would say Hey Siri and trigger a couple hundred devices at once

That was PR and it was effective, because fans at the time were crying for the Twins to bring in someone with analytics experience and were worried that the Pohlads were going to promote from within, as has been their custom, and give the job to Rob Antony, the only candidate without analytics experience.

They also publicly stated that one important quality was that the candidate be lovable, like they thought Terry Ryan was. That was a unique - and weird - criteria for the general manager of a professional sports team, but it showed how much the Pohlads valued personal fit. They also requested continuity, something they have long valued, and Falvey gave it to them, not making many changes for at least a year, as if he had to spend a year training.

Well I am retired from owning a 135 year old family owned jewelry store. I notice neck wear. Especially cheap silly looking stuff….

I always thought G. Rodriguez was going to be a star, but he looks iffy this year. Maybe he's just shaking off injury and layoff rust and will be better next year.
