Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I guess things could be worse. JR could've signed Joe Blanton for 2 at $15M guaranteed.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Lol. Okay, in honour of you all, I declined a 2nd dish of warmed nuts The second dish is always slo......nevermind.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 In all seriousness, can someone give me a reason why Bernier is even on the 40 man roster, much less the 25 man roster, and IN THE STARTING LINEUP? This team is supposed to be working toward 2014 and beyond, right? Hasn't Ryan specifically said that dreams of contention in 2013 were just that, dreams? What possible use to future Twins teams is Bernier? I can only come up with one reason. [/theleviathan]

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2013 Author Posted July 23, 2013 Bernier... Making a difference.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2013 Author Posted July 23, 2013 Sock puppet? He does kinda look like he was called up from Jeff Dunham's trunk.
GCTF Verified Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 A wise man (i forget which one) back in the byto days once proclaimed "you can not defeat the rally monkey, you can only hope it doesn't give you AIDS". And with that I bid you good night. See you when they play at a decent time.
big dog Verified Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Very nice play by Bernier. Here's the logic, as I see it. You need to sign some AAA filler every once in a while, and guys like that are handy. They will be more likely to sign if they can get a chance in the majors. The Twins need more middle infielders, and maybe it won't be Bernier, but it doesn't hurt to let him have a couple of weeks and see what they've got. If he doesn't work out, fine, they DFA him because they're going to need to clear a bunch of spots on the 40-man next year anyway. If he's better than expected, then they have a tough decision that is good news. What's the harm?

Winston Smith Verified Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Roy is gushing over how great all the twins are but I'm confused, why is the record so bad?
buckninetyone Provisional Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 i think every team in mlb is below .500
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I'd like Dick to talk about Mauer's batting average with two strikes.......it's worth mentioning .
buckninetyone Provisional Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 even the harlem yankeetrotters
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Dick acts like his viewers don't watch the Twins often (heck, even occasional)..we know about the two-strike Mauer thing, because you tell us about it every time Mauer has two-strikes. Jesus.
big dog Verified Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I'd like Dick to talk about Mauer's batting average with two strikes.......it's worth mentioning . Yeah, then maybe he'll mention it to Tom Kelly. ....look, we're playing the Indians again!
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 "Wheels" Mauer beats the throw to 2nd.
